Video SEO: Videos in Multiple Sources
-
Frist time question, so excited!
We are hosting videos on Wistia for a new series we're calling Tatango University - Very similar to Whiteboard Fridays as you can tell - thanks Rand for the idea.
My question, should we also be uploading the videos to YouTube or will this somehow we looked at as duplicate content or video spamming? Also, if we host them on YouTube will they always come up before our videos on our own site, therefore driving all the traffic to YouTube?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
-
Because their videos are very popular and they want to generate link juice for the SEOMoz pages, not YouTube.
-
Thanks Gyorgy for the insight. I guess it then comes down to how valuable it is to have someone watch one of the videos on your site, compared to YouTube, especially if YouTube videos will rank higher.
Why does SEOMOZ not have a YouTube channel for their Whiteboard Friday videos do you think?
-
Distributing your videos through many channels isn't a duplicate issue. My videos were firstly hosted on Vimeo and my website's video sitemap listed those pages. Later I created a YouTube channel and uploaded the same videos. A few weeks later the YouTube pages started taking over the SERP and currently all of my videos appear on YouTube first, then on Vimeo. The higher number of YouTube video views and comments indicate to the search engine that those pages seem to be more popular; therefore, deserve better rankings.

Video Syndication in 2016
This doesn't seem to have been discussed here for a number of years, so I'm wondering what people think of video syndication in 2016? Is it a good idea for website SEO (backlinks in accompanying text)? Or for raising general web presence? Or generally pushing the video itself up the SERPS? Or is it better to concentrate everything on Youtube? I'm looking to raise a website profile that produces 4-5 videos a week presently but is only getting an average of 500-1000 views in each video.

What's better for SEO an Optimized Image URL vs Optimized Image File Name?
I would like to know what is best practice for optimizing images for our website. Is it better to give an Image an optimized filename Or an optimized URL for SEO? Or is it better to do both? Would there be any harm in doing both if they are identical in their format? Any help would be greatly appreciated. With thanks, Kate

Local Seo for Two Offices?
What is the best way to go about doing local seo for two offices? Everything I can research on local seo provides awesome information...if you have one office, but we have two: one is in downtown Tampa and the other in a northern suburb. Anyone have experience with this that they'd like to share? I'd appreciate it. Happy Friday! Ruben

Does it affect SEO if my "Menu Label" is a shortened form of my "Page Title"?
This might be a very simple question, but I'm just trying to make sure I don't make Google think I'm trying to pull a fast one. For example, my page title would be "Bridal Fashions", but the menu label would be "fashions" to keep the navigation panel simple and streamlined.

Videos not displaying within YouTube search results (query starting with '@' symbol)
We recently uploaded a video to YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ah0CgZ22NNU) only to realize that it wasn't being displayed within YouTube's internal search results when searched for by the brand name. Our partner's brand name is @WashULaw. If you were to search for @WashULaw on YouTube, you'll notice it returns a 'No Search Results' page (http://screencast.com/t/ZP3SGM5sr). However, when you search for keywords without the @ symbol (i.e. washulaw, wash u law, etc) within YouTube, our video is discovered. However, if you enter the @ symbol within their search bar and choose one of the auto-suggest keywords, you'll notice the query returns video matches (http://screencast.com/t/wkghMhRY). Looking at the view counts of these videos, they appear to be over 100K each. Our video has been indexed by YouTube (http://screencast.com/t/6xV3kW2DHQ6R) and Google (http://screencast.com/t/r4jloA0BpPf). We've even added @WashuLaw as a tag. My question, does anyone have an idea as to why our video isn't displaying when someone searches for our brand @WashULaw with the @ symbol within YouTube's search? ZP3SGM5sr

CTR of Video Rich Snippet vs. Normal SERP
Hi there, We were ranking no. 1 for one of our key terms for a long time, however a competitor of ours by the looks of it purchased a load of private blog network links and managed to shift above us. The page we rank for on that term has a video with the markup to trigger a video box rich snippet (which i've noticed never seems to be given on position 1 but can be for 2 and below) - so that is now what our entry in the SERPs is. Since then we have actually dropped down to 3rd, with the web page now being in 2nd not having any new links / content in a very long time. Therefore I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about whether the video box could actually reduce CTR which could have resulted in us dropping down to 3rd ? The meta description text seems to be reduced to 100 characters with the vid box, so we're not getting our full message across where the others in the results are. My natural assumption would be that the video box would gain a higher CTR, but i'm thinking this may not be the case for us. Does anyone know of any data relating to the video box in the SERPS ? Many thanks, Stuart MtsbA.jpg
