What is eadgear.com?
-
I noticed that one of my sites has a significant amount of traffic being referred by eadgear.com. I have no idea what this site is and it seems a little fishy. Does anyone else have the same problem or know exactly what eadgear.com is? Thanks in advance!
-
Likely cause of large traffic coming through eadgear.com is that you might have signed up with a seo company who generates or boosts your visitor rate and they use servers to push URLs to IP addresses that are vulnerable to pop-ups and by chance if the page is appealing to the end user he/she will click through. hence why there are high bounce rates from this URL/SERVER.

I just checked and saw that our referrals dropped off on the 6th as well. Looks like we can file this one next to Amelia Earhart and the Nazca Line...
Thanks for the info!

Hi Everyone,
I did some research on eadgear and was able to find a referral ID which I could use to create an account on their site. They are ad revenue site which allows users to view and rate websites and somehow get paid for it. Looks a little shady.
However, I still don't know understand how the top referral page /members/surfbar.php points to my site at www.L-com.com. I tried to replicate what they did, but could not.
UPDATE: my analytics show that I stopped getting referrals from eadgear.com on October 6, 2011.
Happen to anyone else?

Our site is also getting a large amount of traffic from eadgear, starting on 7/29, with 99% coming from http://www.eadgear.com/members/surfbar.php. Is it worth pursuing methods to block referrals from this site?
-
Hi everyone,
eadgear.com started showing up in our analytics on 7/29/11 and we definitely see the spike in referrals. I don't know if this will be a negative to our site or not in the future. We aren't making any revenue from them.
-
How did you block them?
From what I have found by looking around it seems that they are just a referrer spammer.
-
Ditto on my site: We've seen more than 25K referrals from various eadgear.com urls since late July, the vast majority from http://www.eadgear.com/members/surfbar.php.
I'm blocking them now but first hit was 7/29/2011. Does anyone know who they are or what they do?
Thanks much
-
Probably not much help here, but I've run into the same issue today. We've seen more than 25K referrals from various eadgear.com urls since late July, the vast majority from http://www.eadgear.com/members/surfbar.php. It appears I need to be a member to dig deeper...have not done that at this point. I'm guessing some kind of ad network or overseas shopping portal? The traffic has produced zero business, thus my concern is how this activity may be contributing to an increased bounce rate and might potentially influence our authority scores.
This is enough traffic to register a trend move in our affiliate program and/or our remarketing program. I've seen neither that I can attribute to this referrer.

Thanks for the response, this is absolutely not an ad.
I can't find any actual link on any of the pages on the site and I didn't understand what the site actually does. It does not seem the least bit relevant to my site. I am just trying to figure out if anyone else has had a similar problem and what eadgear.com is.
-
Hi, is this an ad?
http://www.google.com/search?q=eadgear.com
Which page is the link coming from? Is it a real link that looks natural, or are you on some kind of spam/auto-gen'd page?

Best practices to track blog.mydomain.com in Google Analytics?
What is the best practice in Google Analytics? Tracking blog.mydomain.com + mydomain.com under the same profile? Or creating separate profiles for each blog.mydomain.com and mydomain.com? Thanks!

Not ranking in Google.com
I put up my last site on the web since a month. So far I have been optimizing mainly to Hungary and I got used to that my content was indexed in a day and if content was good it sometimes appeared in the first two pages in a couple of days. Now with my new site I am targeting google.com. I put it up since a week, sent the sitemap to google, it was intresting for mee te see that even the pages to get into the web index needed two days. Seomoz says my site is all right besides some duplicate content issue i will solve soon. So it is past a week and even if I copy a complete sentence from the beginning of my home page and paste it into google my site does not appear. I also purchased couple of backlins but they have not appeared so far as well. Is that really this slow? Am I to impatient? Or should there be something else problem I should be looking for? Thanks for any feedback

.com version and .org version of site
So i just discovered that a site I now managae has a .com version - as well as the .org version that is the one everyone knows about! I'm guessing this is not a good thing... So the whole site eg www.abc.org/example has a mirror page www.abc.com/example.... What should I do about this? Is it really bad to have 2 versions out there? Thanks!

222.mydomain.com... I'm stumped....
Hi, I'm stumped by this one and am hoping I can get some advice/guidance. I've seen this pop up in my stats where the www.mydomain.com/page is appearing as 222.mydomain.com/page. I have no clue what's going on... This google return displays the same page 2 ways (see first image). And when I click on the 222. link I get a prompt (see 2nd image). Any idea what's going on? Thanks! Peter ipHKt.png o0ZeB.png

Problem when searching for "link:www.mysite.com" vs "link: www.mysite.com"
Why does a search for "link:www.mysite.com" show no results, but when there is a space before www.mysite.com it shows results? The same happens for "link:www.mysite.com" (nothing shows up), but when I search for "link:www.mysite.com/index.php" it returns results. Is there a problem I am missing? Thanks so much!
