Losing the WWW?
-
My website is wildbirdfeeders.com however so far everywhere I link to it, I use www.wildbirdfeeders.com.
There is a 301 set up to always redirect you so you always land at wildbirdfeeders.com
Question. Is this okay to have this set up this way? Am I hurting myself?
Also should I do link building using the url wildbirdfeeders.com or www.wildbirdfeeders.com?
Thoughts?
Thanks!

Spoke with our web designer. Whoops, apparently it might have been a plugin that forced the site to lose the www.
We have gone back to the www. Thanks for your responses.

Hurting? NO!
Not Helping? This is not the case either.
Actually you are missing the opportunity to be smarter on links... If you are getting quality links with www then you should use the same URL as upon redirection (301) some of the link juice will be left.
As you said you made most of the links with-www then you should try redirecting all versions of URL to www-version so that you can earn the most out of it...

Impact on backlinking with https://www.domain or https://domain
Hi, this questions have bugging me for a long time now; we check our website how is indexed on Google and we see that we have most of the backlinks for URL https://www.speedhub.eu , but 15% are linked to https://speedhub.eu , in the past we had our website for http requests redirected via 301 htaccess to https://speedhub.eu without giving it importance, now we have it with www included. Bottom line questions: Is it important if your links are with www or without www, do you lose "link juice" by splitting your backlinks via links with www or without www ? Does Google make a difference for domain positioning via this criteria ? Best regards,

Www. compared to http://
Hey guys! I'm pretty new to the community, and I had a quick question regarding URLs for my website. What would be the difference between using "http://" and "http://www." in my URL. I have done a little searching, but so far I haven't got a definite answer. Any input would be amazing, thanks again.

Root domain registered in search engines, inbound links to www sub-domain. A problem?
I just discovered that our site is registered with the major search engines without the "www" sub domain. Both domains resolve directly to our site, which I need to get corrected. I had planned to have the root (honestabe.com) forwarded to the sub (www.honestabe.com). However, I then found that the sub-domain is not listed with the search engines. Of course, naturally almost all of our inbound links include www. Does Google differentiate between links with and without the sub-domain? In other words, if I forward the www address to the root, will I still get the SEO benefit of those inbound links using www? I'm trying to figure out how to approach this. I'm hoping someone is going to make me feel really stupid for asking this and say it's no big deal. However, I have a feeling this could be a mess.

What percentage of an old post can I change without lose rank?
A few months ago I updated some old posts of my site (Wordpress), to improve old content, with new pictures (better quality), better content, new info about product, and links to our review of this product (newer posts). Most part of the content is this old posts were new, so I "deleted" the old text but replaced the new one with another of better quality. I suppose it will help new post to improve rank, but I los thousands of daily visits, because old posts ranks worse since the change. What do you think? What happened here? Maybe I shouldn't update the whole text, only add a link to new content? Thank you!

Www.text-link-ads.com, worth the trouble?
Has anyone used http://www.text-link-ads.com for link building. It is a service I've been reading a fair deal about and I was hoping to hear everyone's opinion on it.
