What outreach tools do you use?
-
I was wondering what an SEO with years of experience used to perform outreach campaigns? What software (Buzzstream, Inkybee), what email service (MailChimp), what prospecting tools (Buzzsumo)? What's the ultimate pairing of software and tools for maximum results (with the best client-facing KPIs)?

These are my outreach tools, though some might not call them that name, but they keep my work in daily contact with thousands of people who are interested in my industry.
** A news page on my website where I post links to industry news stories on other websites and any new content that is posted on my own site. This page is visited by about a thousand people per day.
** An RSS feed of the links to news stories described above that goes out via Feedburner to a few thousand people.
** A Feedburner email list of several thousand subscribers who want to receive the list of story links described above.
I am not an outreach kind of person. I don't want to schmooze people. Instead I just do my best to post what people want, and allow them to opt in for a daily RSS, or email, or visit to my news page. You will not get this overnight. But if you are dedicated to featuring everyone in your industry who is doing something good, lots of people will want to hear this stuff. Then, when you publish something new.... BAM... it goes out to your whole tribe and they share it with other people for you.
Once people see you doing this, a few of them will send you great stuff to feature. That will make your job easier.
So, instead of schmoozing people and sending your stuff out to Mailchimp and all of these other services, build something good on your own site and let other people promote your stuff for you.

Hey!
First off, experts don't use the words like "link building, outreach programms, etc.
There had not been any thing called Link building or outreach programm even before Penguin update, it has always been Link earning, gaining, votes, etc. You should focus on gaining links by posting quality content, on blogs, social media, etc.
If your content will be worth sharing, you'll surely get referrals from other blogger and experts in the same field. so forget about link building or directory submission.
Try focusing on producing meaningful content with supportive facts and case studies
Hope this helps!

Experts don’t do outreach they do traditional PR and know the journalists and have the contacts that they have built up over the years – while most of us don’t have these direct relations we can rely upon to get links and mentions a great tool I use is Gorkana – a bit pricey but worth every bit of money.
Plus with Gorkana you can get PR requests from journos.
Simple trick search Twitter for hastags PRRequest and JournoRequest to try and get in contact with the PR guys when they need content (great free way of getting additional relevant exposure)
If your trying to outreach infographic and content try something like Buzzstream if you don’t know the journalists all ready.

Anyone seeing a big drop in links showing in Google webmaster tools?
Over the last week I have seen a big drop in links to us showing in Google Webmaster tools. The links are still there on sites that rank well including some from National newspapers. However the link count has dropped from over 4000 to less than 40 on approx 5-6 sites. Ranks etc are staying the same its just a bit of a strange thing as they still show in Majestic and Open site explorer.

How do you use a blog to help SEO.
Hi, So you launch a blog on your website, fill it with lots of great content and update weekly with more great content. From what I know your looking to gain 2 things! 1. Users linking back to your blog and 2. Sharing the content on social networks. Building up social lists on Twitter, Facebook, Google+ etc so when you do post something new you have a hub of users to help push your post by sharing it on social networks which should also help to generate more backlinks. Is this the main purpose of a blog for SEO? Would anything else apart from the above effect the SEO for the site? Maybe the freshness of content also has a positive impact! Also if your blog is picking up lots of links, for this example lets say 100 links a month and the rest of the site outside of the blog is picking up 10 a month will the blogs power of picking up links effect the rest of the sites rankings, would you need to anchor text link out of the posts in the blog to make the most out of it? Cheers

Ontolo vs Raven SEO Tools
Ontolo referred me to Raven in one of their videos and ended up losing by business as a link building partner. What are your experiences with these tools-either, one, both?

Is using a tool such as My Blog Guest worth it?
I saw the post http://www.seomoz.org/blog/4-valuable-link-building-services and saw that MyBlogGuest seems like a good link building service, so I signed up. It really is confusing though, it almost makes me think I have to install WP Blogs on my sites which primarily run in Joomla, so linking directly to the blog is not an option. Okay, fine, so I'll just skip the part about putting in offers on other people's posts. I really signed up for the link building part of it anyways. So, now, I just write content in the site-used article generator? Then, go in and offer it manually to people? Doesn't really strike me as some super powerful method of linkbuilding, but there's a good chance I'm missing something. If this is the case, I'd assume I'd have to write content that is relevant to the site that I am trying to build links for, and then place links back to that site, so basically I want my posts on competitors sites and that will help out with backlinks and authority? It's really confusing. I just want to have my content writer write good content and get links from it, and this method just confuses me. I'd appreciate any insight from anyone who has used that service or can recommend something easier or better.

I am looking for a tool that can go through my site (and others) and categorise the backlinks into categories... such as Directory, Blog Comment, Social, Forum etc? To help you understand the backlink mix? Is there this functionality out there?

How useful/ damaging is it to have links repeated on every page ?
Our site is dynamic in nature we have tens of thousands of indexed pages with numerous individual brands pages - all of the brand pages are equally important. We are trying to distribute link juice to those pages as much as possible - so my question is --- Is it smart and or useful or perhaps damaging or spammy to have a space on the bottom of each page throughout our site with links to each and every single brand page ? is this practice considered as duplicate content etc ?
