Mozscape Index
-
Hello:
There was a Mozscape Index scheduled 9/8/2015 and now it go pushed back October 8,2015.
There seems to be a lot of delays with the Mozscape Index. Is this something we should expect? Updates every 2 months instead of every month?
Thanks!

Thank you for your question and concerns. Moz is committed to providing high quality metrics. I wrote a piece about it prior to my joining Moz a month or two ago comparing the proportional representativeness of Moz's index to Google vs. the other major providers, which showed that Moz's crawl was more representative of Google than any other. An unfortunate side effect of monitoring index and metric quality is actually doing something about it when things don't look quite right. We would rather know we delayed an unsatisfactory release than not know if we delivered a satisfactory one.
That being said, I think you will be pleasantly surprised over the next year or so with the improvements you see coming out of the Big Data team in everything from quality to quantity and stability. They are doing some truly amazing things.

Yeah, you guys have pretty much nailed it. So sorry, again, for the delay!

Moz finally added an update on the Mozscape API Updates page:
https://mza.seotoolninja.com/products/api/updates
TL:DR; This month's update has been cancelled.

Just adding to what Dmitrii said...
Rand offered an explanation in August on this Q&A - https://mza.seotoolninja.com/community/q/august-3rd-mozscape-index-update-our-largest-index-but-nearly-a-monthly-late.
Like Dmitrii, while I can understand why the delays are happening, I hate learning after the fact that the update is delayed. I've concluded that every two months is the new normal, at least for now, and am setting my own and client expectations accordingly.

Hello there.
If you go here - https://mza.seotoolninja.com/products/api/updates You can see that it's far the first delay and that it's somewhat "normal". So, I'm kind of used to it. Now, also if you go here - https://mza.seotoolninja.com/about/jobs#listings
You can see that there are lots of open positions for engineering staff. So, if you are willing to help MOZ improve - there is a good chance They are growing and their amount of clientele is growing even faster. I'm not trying to justify the delay, but at the same time i do understand why it's happening.

Sitemaps and Indexed Pages
Hi guys, I created an XML sitemap and submitted it for my client last month. Now the developer of the site has also been messing around with a few things. I've noticed on my Moz site crawl that indexed pages have dropped significantly. Before I put my foot in it, I need to figure out if submitting the sitemap has caused this.. can a sitemap reduce the pages indexed? Thanks David.

Mozscape API Updates (Non-updates!) - becoming a joke!
This is the 3rd month in succession where the Mozscape index has been delayed. Myself and clients are losing patience with this, as I am sure many others must be. Just what do you suppose we tell clients waiting for that data? We have incomplete and sometimes skewed metrics to report on, delays which then get delayed further, with nothing but the usual 'we are working on it' and 'bear with us'. It's becoming obvious you fudged the index update back in January (see discussion here with some kind of explanation finally from Rand: https://mza.seotoolninja.com/community/q/is-everybody-seeing-da-pa-drops-after-last-moz-api-update), and seems you have been fumbling around ever since trying to fix it, with data all over the place, shifting DA scores and missing links from campaign data. Your developers should be working around the clock to fix this, because this is a big part of what you're selling in your service, and as SEO's and marketers we are relying on that data for client retention and satisfaction. Will you refund us all if we should lose clients over this?! .. I don't think so! With reports already sent out the beginning of the month with incomplete data, I told clients the index would refresh April 10th as informed from the API updates page, only to see it fudged again on day of release with the index being rolled back to previous. So again, I have to tell clients there will be more delays, ...with the uncertainty of IF it WILL EVEN get refreshed when you say it will. It's becoming a joke.. really!

First Mozscape index of the year is live
I'm happy to announce, the first index of the year is out. We did have a smaller count of subdomains, but correlations are generally up and coverage of what's in Google looks better, too. We're giving that one a high five! We've (hopefully) removed a lot of foreign and spam subdomains, which you might see reflected in your spam links section. (another woot!) Here are some details about this index release: 145,549,223,632 (145 billion) URLs 1,356,731,650 (1 billion) subdomains 200,255,095 (200 million) root domains 1,165,625,349,576 (1.1 Trillion) links Followed vs nofollowed links 3.17% of all links found were nofollowed 63.49% of nofollowed links are internal 36.51% are external Rel canonical: 26.50% of all pages employ the rel=canonical tag The average page has 89 links on it 72 internal links on average 17 external links on average Thanks! In lue of the canceled Moz Index update
Hey Moz, Overall we love your product and are using it daily to help us grow, part of that has been to rely on the Moz Index for DA and PA as well as places where we are doing positive linking through genuine partnerships and reviews of clients. We were really excited to see any the results for this month as we have been partner linked from lots of high reputation sites and google seems to agree as our rankings are moving up weekly. The question from our marketing team is, since a significant part of Moz will not be available to us this month, will there be any compensation handed out to the paying community. PS: I am an engineer and I know how you have probably lost a very large set of data which cant simply be re-crawled over night but Moz Pro is not a cheap product and we do expect it to work. Source: https://mza.seotoolninja.com/products/api/updates Kind Regards.
