What Metadata should one use multi country directory
-
Currently this is what applies throughout the site. property="og:locale" content="en_GB" /> How would one set this for properties in Italy or Spain for example? (The language is all in English) Regards Tai
-
I'm assuming you include these tags for Facebook's benefit, because if you want to send localization signals to Google, it's better to use hreflang.
Hreflang allows a comprehensive range of countries and languages: you can combine any two values from the ISO-639-1 list of language codes and the ISO-3166-1 Alpha 2 list of countries.
The locales supported by Facebook are a lot more limited. You can't have en-IT for English speakers in Italy, for example, because Facebook doesn't support that value. Facebook only allows the following English-language locales:
- UK English: en-GB
- US English: en-US
- English (India): en-IN
- English (Pirate): en-PI
- English (Upside Down): en_UD
You can see Facebook's full list of supported locales on this page.
So the answer is that it won't matter where your users are. What will matter to Facebook is the style of English you use. If you write in British English, you should use en-GB, and if you use US spellings then use en-US.

Using one domain for email and another domain for your website, but redirects...
Hello - We are rebranding and our new name is fairly lengthy. We own all main domain versions of our brand name - .com, .new and .org - There is a very high search volume for the new brand name as it is a merger of 2 popular existing brands so want to take advantage of that and use our full name within our website domain name. However, since the name is a little long as mentioned - 25 characters - we also own the 3 character acronym of the new brand so we are debating on using the acronym for our new email addresses. ie [email protected] so it is user friendly. We would obviously redirect the acronym email domain to point to the longer website domain. Are there any negative SEO effects if we do that? Use the longer domain for the website and shorter acronym for our email? Thank you

Robots.txt | any SEO advantage to having one vs not having one?
Neither of my sites has a robots.txt file. I guess I have never been bothered by any particular bot enough to exclude it. Is there any SEO advantage to having one anyways?

XCart Directory 301s Not Working
I'm working with someone to make fixes to an xcart site but I'm at a loss for some fixes. Some directory URLs had been changed around on their ecommerce site to make them more descriptive & more human friendly. The problem is that according to the team's coder, simple redirects won't work for the directories and mod rewrite and redirectmatch didn't work for some unknown reason. I don't really know anything about xcart. I've made some basic changes and redirects before though their admin panel but I don't have any clue as to how to make directories 301 properly. Any insights? Thanks!

Domain Authority and Page Rank concerns when using CNAME
In the event that a person uses a service like Blogger or a photo service like Photo Shelter, but use a CNAME to resolve example.blogspot.com or example.photoshelter.com to example.com, how does that affect Domain Authority and Page Rank in real world results, and how does it affect the user when/if they leave the service and establish their own site? For example: A client has a blog on Blogger called johndoephotography.blogspot.com but uses CNAME so what is shown is johndoephotography.com. The Domain Authority is quite high since he is really on Yahoo's domain. How does that affect SERP rankings? Is it ignored, since it is merely a sub-domain, or does the parent domain actually give a benefit? The second part: If John Doe decides to host his own WordPress blog, what happens to that domain authority? Has he lost it all?
