Why SERP WHY??
-
This is probably the most basic of SEO questions which no SEO I've yet met can answer. Analyzing a keyword for a client with the Basic SERP report reveals a lot but at the same time not enough. The term Logo Design (yes bad I know) shows at least 50 companies spending hard on SEO but there is no too in MOZ that can actually tell you why someone with less PA, less links, less DA actually ranks higher than someone else.
Surely you guys out there face this quandary all the time. The why? When you've exhausted everything what do you tell a client? Your numbers and your authority is better than the competition but they still rank higher!

I hear your frustration...been there, done that, bought the t-shirt
It's important to come to terms with the idea that PA/DA isn't everything when it comes to ranking. I've worked on sites where the design and conversion strategy is terrible and people were not hanging on the site too long. These sites with higher bounce rates won't rank as well. Another factor I've seen is the continuous updating and adding content (such as in a blog) helps push rankings upward. One of my sites consistently ranks higher than our competitors with higher PA/DA and I'm certain it's these factors that's doing it.
There's probably a more techy nerdy answer out there, but this is just based on my experience. If sites aren't ranking well for me, I usually suggest a site redesign and redevelopment. Doing an overhaul and clean up can go a long way.
Good luck!

Does Moz have a way to export full SERPs yet?
I don't like being restricted to tracking only three competitors' rankings so I'm wondering if I could just export the full SERPs like I can on Ahrefs and SEMrush.

Understanding Keyword Explorer SERP Analysis
Hi Guys Based on the attached SERP analysis provided by Keyword Explorer, the term 'silver jewelry' appears to have a lot of potential; it has good search volume, high opportunity and potential scores; however when you look at the metrics associated with the top 3 competing sites, and the fact page 1 is dominated by major brands with equally good metrics, then a difficulty score of 26, meaning easy; seems a bit unrealistic. I would like to hear what others have to say, or am I missing something here. Regards Peter H96KVmH

Some changes to how we measure Tweet Verticals on SERPs
Hello all! One of the biggest challenges we face here at Moz is keeping up with Google's ever-changing SERP features whilst maintaining minimal impact on customer data. However sometimes this is inevitable for us to be able to stay relevant. We are deploying a change today that will have an effect on rankings for some campaigns. As of today, we will now track tweets as verticals instead of organic ranking positions. This will affect around 7% of SERPs. I have attached an image that shows how tweets look when integrated into the SERP. In this example, prior to today, we would have measured https://twitter.com/Moz as the second organic ranking position and https://www.facebook.com/moz/ as the third organic ranking position. After today, we will measure https://twitter.com/Moz as a Tweet SERP feature, and https://www.facebook.com/moz/ as the second organic ranking position. The Tweet SERP feature will appear in our tools soon. We expect this to have a pretty low impact on a campaign's Search Visibility score (~ 0.1% on average) but we wanted to call this out as it will manifest as a page 1 ranking change for those keywords. Any feedback or questions please reply below! Or contact the help team! Thanks, Jon twitter-serp.png

What does the green check mark mean in the KW Difficulty & SERP Analysis Report mean?
Hi, I just generated a Keyword Difficulty and SERP Analysis Report and I find that many of the metrics have a green checkmark besides them. What does that indicate? Similarly, there are many metrics which appear in green. However rest are in grey. Also help what does that indicate? Refer the attached link to the screenshot of the report. I tried looking at a couple of places for the answer but in vain.. Thanks.. DQSlssU

Bing data in the keyword difficulty and SERP analysis tool
Hi Guys, I'm wondering about the exact match bing data in the Moz KWD & SERP analysis tool. We're looking at the ranking difficulty for given terms in Google but getting exact match bing numbers. Is the tool estimating Google searches from the bing data (perhaps a simple formula assuming maybe 10% search totals for Bing, 60% for Google or whatever is closest these days) or is it just raw bing numbers that we then have to upsize in order to estimate search numbers in Google? Hope that makes some kind of sense! In other words - how are you guys using that Bing data when considering terms to target using this tool? Look forward to hearing your thoughts.
