Alexa Site Audit
-
Hello All,
I run an Alexa Site Audit report for my client. Is it normal that my Alexa site audit report will be public i.e. S3 URL for downloading the PDF file was open to anyone knowing the URL. No re-direct to login etc was there? Yes the S3 URL is funny but Google bots have ways to find this funny URLs so is this normal? If you have tried Alexa can you repeat the problem i.e. typing your S3 report URL? can you get it to? or is it just me.
I have asked Alexa about it. I think there should be some security.
Thanks.

Thanks for posting the followup to this, it's very helpful to know both that the problem is solved and that Alex had a fast turnaround.

Guys from Alexa provided a full refund plus solve the issues about i.e. now no one can't access the PDF from S3 without authenticating/login to alexa.
They reacted very quickly on this and solve the issue. Good work Alexa!

My site got hacked and now i have 1000s of 404 pages and backlinks. Should i transfer my site to a new domain name and start again?
My site was hacked and I had 1000s of pages that should not exist created and has had 1000s of backlinks put in. Now i have the same pages and backlinks redirecting to 404 pages. Is this why my site crashed out of google and my SEO fixes since have made no progress to my problem?

What shall I call my site?
With all the google changes and social media focus on seo, I am in a bit of a dilemma and any opinions welcome. My husband has a very small horseback riding company based in a tiny mountain town of Costa Rica and I cannot decide whether to call it by the company name or by a more generic name that is likely to be picked up by the search engines ( I do believe the importance of domain name is less than it used to be in terms of search with all the new google changes). The two names are www.horsetrekmonteverde.com (bear in mind that his customers come from the States and horse trekking is not commonly used) and www.horseridingcostarica.com One mentions Costa Rica, the other not as you can see. Also not many people have beard about Monteverde. However I am trying to do some strong branding! What would you do?

Get Google To Crawl More Pages Faster on my Site
We opened our database of about 10 million businesses to be crawled by Google. Since Wednesday, Google has crawled and indexed about 2,000 pages. Google is crawling us at about 1,000 pages a day now. We need to substantially increase this amount. Is it possible to get Google to crawl our sites at a quicker rate?

Are Wordpress sites being dinged by Google? Read a few articles regarding.
I read a couple "SEO" related articles that sites built in Wordpress are going to be dinged by Google because Google sees Wordpress sites as simple to make and a higher potential to be "spammy". Is there any truth to this? Your thoughts? I do give "thumbs up" and "best answer" marks and appreciate receiving thumbs up myself... Thanks

Strange video site adding unwanted links.
Today I was checking our backlink profile and noticed a lot of strange back links coming from grosezinga.com apparently this site is some type of search engine for videos, and it somehow pulls videos from Youtube, and Daily Motion, and adds them to the grosezinga search engine. I have never placed a link on this site, I do not want a link there, and I never even knew it existed until today. We do have video tutorials on the web, and somehow this site has pulled them from our video page without our permission, and added them to this site. Anyone ever had this problem, should I ask for them to be removed? When I do a Google video search my url is showing up on about a hundred different videos that are not ours. I don't want to be accused of building unnatural links.

Sitelinks Disappeard For My Site
Hi Guys I noticed that all the sitelinks for my site has disappeared. Could it be because of recent changes that I made to the site or maybe because I submitted a new sitemap for my site? Should I ask the googlebot to fetch my site now again after I submitted my sitemap and also ask to re-index it? I also read somewhere else that Google could be re-indexing my site and thus still needs to determine what my sitelinks is going to be. If somebody could please give me some advice on this I would appreciate it. Thanks Dave

Google Will Penalize Sites Repeatedly Accused Of Copyright Infringement
Has someone filed a large number of DMCA “takedown” requests against your site? If so, look out. That’s the latest penalty that may cause you to rank lower in Google’s search results. It joins other penalties such as “Panda” and “Penguin.” We’re dubbing it the “Emanuel Update” in honor of Hollywood mogul Ari Emanuel, who helped prompt it.
