Effect of Publishing Blog Posts Resembling Classified Advertisements

Our site (www.nyc-officespace-leader.com) markets commercial real estate for lease in New York City.
Any potential negative impact in terms of ranking and traffic by using our blog post in an unconventional manner? I am considering publishing a weekly post describing the latest commercial listings for lease. The post would be formatted and resemble classified advertising appearing in such newspapers as The New York Times. The ads are concise and appealing.
Property listings drive a high click thru rate, so I believe blogs posts based on property listings and formatted like old newspaper ads might really improve visitor engagement. Each add could have a link to a corresponding listing page.
Would using the blog in this manner every week have a detrimental effect or could prove beneficial?

I'm not personally aware of anything that would make it inherently bad, but I do think you should take some time to consider why people visit your blog, and who you'd like the audience for your blog to be. If your blog is mainly for content that's reasonably "evergreen" and that will draw repeat visitors, then using it for this sort of promotional material might not be the best idea. If you're just looking to draw one-off visitors or fill your funnel, it might be fine.
For example, take the Moz blog—the vast majority of our posts aren't about Moz products at all, and when we do post about our own products and events, the posts are in addition to our regularly-scheduled, educational posts. Our blog has a large readership who are generally looking for information they can apply to their own marketing. If they saw posts that serve as little more than advertisements for our products, they'd have no reason to come back. Running the sort of content we run helps us keep our position as an industry thought leader, and keeps us front-of-mind when members of our community are in the market for tools like ours.
You note that property listings tend to draw a lot of clicks, but those clicks are coming from folks who are actively looking for property listings. Those types of visitors strike me as pretty likely to see the listing on your blog, consider whether they're interested, and then bounce along to the next search result. I don't see them sticking around to read and engage with your blog. If you're fine with that, go ahead. If you'd like your blog to be a knowledge source for your visitors, though, maybe leave the listings to the listings.

Re-direct Irrelevant (high ranking) blog articles?
One of our sites has some old & completely irrelvant blog articles that are high ranking & receive the top two visited pages for the entire site (more page views than the homepage even). Our marketing managers are wanting to take down the blog posts since they are falsely inflating their traffic numbers with irrelevant visitors. I'm concerned by taking them down and re-directing to another site it will affect our overall domain authority and rankings for relevant keywords. Thoughts and/or resources on taking down vs. keeping up?

Keyword location in Permalink structure for custom post types
I am in the process of a large rebuild and redesign of my real estate website. It is Wordpress based with custom post types organized by category archives for neighborhood pages. Through this process, I am expanding my content and number of internal pages by a large amount. I am at a decision point with permalink structure for my site and can choose two different directions to go, not sure which is best or if there is any impact on SEO for the two options. Most of it comes down to location of keyword search terms being placed in my permalink structures. When I first built my site, exact domain match was still a thing for SEO power, and now days I hear it doesn’t hold much weight… so my domain name of http://dwellarizona.com still remains the same either way which does contain an important keyword, but might be redundant if using the keyword “Arizona” elsewhere in a permalink. Is there any difference in SEO power for the following keywords whether they are placed all at the end of the permalink, versus being distributed more throughout the entire link address when there is a hierarchy to the address and some in the domain name, partly in a parent page address, and partly in the child page link address? Target keywords: grayhawk, scottsdale, arizona

Lazy Loading of Blog Posts and Crawl Depths
Hi Moz Fans, We are looking at our blog and improving the content as much as we can for SEO purposes, but we have hit a bit of a blank in terms of lazy loading implications and issues with crawl depths. We introduced lazy loading onto the blog home page to increase site speed initially and it works well with infinite scroll, but we were wondering whether this would cause any issues regarding SEO. A lot of the resources online seem to be conflicting and some are very outdated, so some clarification on what is best in terms of lazy loading and crawl depths for blogs, would be fantastic! Adding Video-Effective Means of Generating Quality Links?
Is adding video to URLs create a higher quantity/quality of incoming links than adding new text? Our firm operates a commercial real estate web site (www.metro-manhattan.com) in New York City. This niche is highly competitive. Our link profile is pretty weak. We have about 30-40 neighborhood pages among many others. These neighborhood based pages are text based. Would adding a video clip with pertinent information about these neighborhoods attract links? Basically the question is if video is effective link bait. Thanks, Alan

Just found a wordpress blog duplicating main website blog - what to do?
Hello Mozzers, I am working on a website and found the social media agency, employed by the website owner, was running a parallel wordpress blog which duplicates the content on the main website's blog (200 odd pages of this duplicating wordpress blog are indexed - the duplication is exact other than for non-blog content pages - around 60 category, date pages, homepage, etc. I am planning to 301 redirect the wordpress blog pages to equivalent pages on website blog, and then 301 redirect the homepage, category and date pages, etc. to the website blog homepage, so all the blog pages redirect to somewhere on main website. _Does this make sense, or should I only worry about redirecting the blog content pages? _ Also, the main website is new and there are redirects coming in to pages from old website already. _Is there anything to be cautious about when redirecting to a main website from multiple old websites? _ Thanks in advance, Luke

Releasing Multiple Language Blog Articles ?
I was hoping anyone could give me some advice on my situation Our blog is a huge traffic source for us, we frequently release fresh blog articles on our English language website bringing lots of relevant traffic for a variety of different relevant topics Some of these articles would be very useful and relevant for visitors to our German website so i would like to get them translated and posted on our separate German language blog on our separate German website. The article text will not change much as the information is the same for Germany also How should i go about this without running into duplicate content issues with Google I looked into rel=alternate and realized that i cannot use this over two separate websites, i also thought about rel=canonical but it doesn't look like this would be suitable either Can anybody please give me any advice or thoughts on this ?

Is my Company Blog Causing issues?
We have a company blog. IE companydomain.com/blog/. Much of the content is unrelated to what we do. So why do we do it? Cover local topics that our customers may be interested in and searching for. Get them in the back door so to speak. Link bait, social sharing etc Develop a marketing culture that's engaged always learning. Customers get to know the people behind the company. Here's my Pickle If i sub domain or separate the site entirely, i won't benefit from all the juice we're generating. If i keep the status quo, since much of the content isn't directly related to my "category", logic tells me that i could be diluting my website in Googles prying eyes. Feedback PLEASE.

Can Dramatically Increasing Site Size Have Negative Effects?
I have a site with about 1000 pages. I'm planning to add about 30,000 pages to it. Can increasing the footprint by such an amount all of a sudden have any negative consequences for existing organic or hoped-for benefits from new pages? Would the site draw any increased scrutiny from Google for doing this? Any other considerations? Thanks... Darcy
