Any issues with having a seperate shop section?
-
Ive had a bit of a dilemma whether to go for a full ecommerce site or having a seperate shop section. My main goal is to push our installation services so Ive decided to go with the latter option. The main categories will be focused solely on Installation services and then Ill have a seperate category which will take the customer to mydomain.com/shop where well have our products for them to buy and fit themselves. The only issue I see is that Im going to have two pages competing against each other. Theyll both have different content but one will be focusing on us installing a particular product and the other will focus on the customer buying it to fit themselves. Will it make things more difficult to rank or wont it make a difference?

It shouldn't make a difference. After all, you'll be optimising the Shop version for 'product name', and the main site version for 'installing product name', and the content will be different - so the two pages should really be complimenting (and linking to) each other for a mutual benefit.
Duplicate content doesn't stop your best page ranking by the way. It's better to think about it as a filter - if you had two identical pages, only one will ever be found, and the other might as well not exist...

Issues with Sitelinks
Hey Everyone, I found a couple threads where this was asked, but unfortunately I haven't seen any responses that explain it yet. My issue is with the sitelinks Google is choosing for a section of my website; they're using wrong/lowercase anchor text for a couple of the page titles that isn't anywhere on the page or in the backend that I can find (see screenshot). Any thoughts/reasons as to why they'd be using the lowercase text there? Thanks in advance! David 9r9Pz4w

Duplicate/ <title>element too long issues</title>
I have a "duplicate <title>"/"<title> element too long" issue with thousands of pages. In the future I would like to automate these in a way that keeps them from being duplicated AND too long. The solution I came up with was to standardize these monthly posts with a similar, shorter, <title>, but then differentiate by adding the month and the year of the post at the end of each <title>. Hundreds of these come out every week, so it is hard to sit there and come up with a unique <title> every time. With this solution the <title> tags would undoubtedly be short enough, however my primary concern is, would simply adding the month and year at the end of each <title> be enough for Google/Moz to decide it is not a duplicate? How much variation is enough for it not to be deemed a duplicate <title>? </p></title>

Indexing issue or just time?
Hey guys, When I publish a post on our blog, I notice that it barely shows up in SERPs even if I copy and paste the title verbatim into Google. All my settings in Yoast are correct from what I've seen. Is this just Google slowly getting around to crawling our site? Or is something else wrong here? We recently shut down and relaunched our site about 3 weeks ago. Here is the site URL: The Tech Block

Canonicalization issue? - URLs with and without trailing slashes showing up as unique
For some reason, our urls are set to change from “www.apprenda.com/ANYTHING" to “apprenda.com/ANYTHING” These register as different pages though? We have rankings in SEOMoz Pro for terms where our homepage shows up 6th on google, but SEOMoz says it's not on the first page because it's checking against apprenda.com and not www.apprenda.com Also, it seems like for some reason pages with trailing slashes also register differently than those without. Should we be doing something for that? Something to make sure all pages get rewritten to having the trailing slash or not? For instance, this url: http://apprenda.com/saasgrid/features/multi-tenancy/ and this url” http://apprenda.com/saasgrid/features/multi-tenancy are really the same page. Yet in our analytics, they register as different pages with their own stats, etc. What should we do in our particular case, and how can we get this fixed? I really appreciate the help, and thanks in advance! Jesse
