What is the best semi-professional camcorder? Trying to shoot our own Whiteboard Friday!
-
I am trying to recreate Moz's Whiteboard Friday but their article on how to do it is from 2012 so the camera they used at the time of the article is no longer sold.
Here is the link to the article I am referencing: https://mza.seotoolninja.com/blog/tips-for-filming-whiteboard-presentations
Any other tips on the best lighting equipment, microphones, etc. for shooting videos is also appreciated!

Hey Flyyazp! I'm Michael, the video guy here at Moz and I'm happy to chime in and offer some assistance.
The camera we use is a Canon 5D Mark III with a 24-105mm lens. Igor is right, camera technology has jumped forward quite a bit since 2012, so you can pass on looking for a camcorder and go straight for a nice DSLR, even a used one if it's right for the budget. If you're just shooting a person standing in front of a whiteboard you don't need to spend the extra cash on a brand new camera with 4K technology, unless you need that feature for other videos you plan to make. An important feature you're going to want on any camera you buy will be a headphone jack which will allow you to monitor the sound input to the camera.
Here is a video of me talking about how I light Whiteboard Friday and lighting features I recommend regardless of the brand you buy. In addition, our friends at Wistia made a nice little video here that will walk you through some tips for shooting video with a DSLR camera. Our mic is a Sennheiser lavalier our presenter is a Rand Fishkin (super rare).
I hope this helps!

Tech improved a bit since 2012, so I wouldn't use that article as a guide on what to buy.
Just grab a camera that records in 4k and has a good lens.Sony makes great 4k cameras two options I'd recommend are Sony Alpha a7R II (expensive) and Sony Alpha a6300 (not expensive) both record in 4k with great quality.
Same advice for microphones, I'm 100% sure there's new stuff out there which costs less and provides the same quality if sound. For one there are now bluetooth microphones: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1029165-REG/sony_ecmaw4_wireless_micro_for_mic.html/ and the radio ones have probably improved a lot in 5 years.

Best blog practices for website
For my Insurance website blog, I use MOZ to help me find high DA authoritative sites, then either generate ideas from them, or rewrite the copy. If I rewrite the copy, I tend to pull from 2 - 3 top authoritative sites. Just so I don't get in trouble, but still offer the most concision information. _My question is, Is this ok to do? _ Secondly, I just read that on some .Gov sites the information is public, and that you can use it as long as you give credit. _My questions is, how do I tell which information is public? _ Thank you in advance 🙂

What's the best way to eliminate "429 : Received HTTP status 429" errors?
My company website is built on WordPress. It receives very few crawl errors, but it do regularly receive a few (typically 1-2 per crawl) "429 : Received HTTP status 429" errors through Moz. Based on my research, my understand is that my server is essentially telling Moz to cool it with the requests. That means it could be doing the same for search engines' bots and even visitors, right? This creates two questions for me, which I would greatly appreciate your help with: Are "429 : Received HTTP status 429" errors harmful for my SEO? I imagine the answer is "yes" because Moz flags them as high priority issues in my crawl report. What can I do to eliminate "429 : Received HTTP status 429" errors? Any insight you can offer is greatly appreciated! Thanks,

What is the best ranking checker solution for 100's of sites
Hello, We used IBP for over 2 years and it worked great. We were able to schedule every clients site to auto run and email our clients. Now IBP is terrible due to Google's new updates. We are looking for something cost effective since we have 100's of websites we check on a weekly basis. We are either looking for a great software that uses proxies to check, or a service that offers unlimited sites and is cheap per month. We have searched for many, however there are so many that we aren't sure what is good and what isn't. We tried Jonathan Ledgers new one and it's not good, we looked into Web CEO and it's per amount of websites which is expensive. We tried cute rank tracker which is free and added proxies and it doesn't work, it lags out and doesn't even track ranks properly. It wouldn't hurt if it had a built in report analysis of the website as well. So whats a good one?

Error on SEOMoz When Trying to Track Website. Please Advise
Hi, I'm trying to start a new campaign for a root domain, but I'm getting the "Roger found an error" and am not sure what to make of it. Error #1: "You've decided to set up a root domain campaign, but entered the subdomain path: www.siteurl.com. Don't worry, we'll switch that for you and crawl everything on the subdomain: www.siteurl.com. If you meant to set this up to only crawl pages in the root domain, click 'Go back and Change" and enter a root domain URL in step 1." Error #2: "Oops! The root domain siteurl.com redirects to a domain that is not within the specified root domain (www.siteurl.com). This will cause us to stop crawling as the first discovered page falls outside of the root domain you've defined. Please make sure you enter a root domain that resolves to a page that is under the root domain." What does this mean? Is there something I am doing wrong? The first error is what returned when I input www.siteurl.com. The second was returned when I put just siteurl.com. I didn't put up the exact URL for privacy reasons, but if you really do want to help me out, PM me and I can give you the real URL. Thanks in advance!

Whats the best way to research website relevant keywords
I wanted to know the general practices SEO marketers use when initially researching and revisiting relevant keywords for a website. I use this process Brain storm a list of keywords, between me and the client Check out competitors websites & SERP's look at Google adwords traffic analyser ( mostly as a point of reference and for increased ideas) How do others do it? what process do you find works - i'm based in the Uk would be great to get a UK perspective. Obviously you can't optimise for all keywords in your list how best is it to decide on the best value or less competitive keywords? I struggle to get stats for local keywords( not enough search data) - most my clients are local businesses and have limited surrounding service areas. thanks

Best Tool to Build List of Competitor's Top Keywords?
What is the best (hopefully seomoz) tool to create a list of the keywords bringing the most traffic into a competitor's website? Goal is to build a list of keywords that bring the competitor the most traffic, stack ranked by volume of traffic coming into the competitor.
