What can Google tell from a video?
-
I notice that Youtube apparently does kind of an automatic transcription.
What can Google tell about a video? Is it comparing text from a voice recognition transcript? Can it take compare the waveform of a video signal and see how different a video is from another video?
I'm putting together a variety of videos that are similar for different pages and wondering how much do I have to change for each video.
I remember one time I attempted to launch a video that was an exact copy but with a different file name, title and tags and Youtube said, "hey, that's the same video!"
Thanks!

Oh, nothing definitive. Just makes sense to me that a duplicate video track footprint would be seen as a duplicate video. Have not tested this myself though.

Hi Brian,
Thanks for the message and weighing in.With voice recognition and the link you mentioned, I can totally believe they look at audio.
You are probably right, but what makes you think they look at video as well?
Thanks...

YouTube is doing some form of foot printing on files looking for duplicate content (video/audio).
If you need to reuse a video, you will need do something to each copy of the video to make it unique. Is there a specific percent difference that they are looking for to have changed?, yes probably, but I wouldn't suggest focus on that. Instead, change something on each video that will both modify the video, and help better inform users. For example, modifying the opening and closing titles of the video to better match the specific circumstance under which you are reusing that video. On a side note, there is good info on adding captions and subtitles here: http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?answer=100077

Google+ Doesn't Show my Post Title
When I create a new blog post and link to it on Google+, the thumbnail & description are correct, but the HTML title it pulls in is just the company name. I have the proper HTML title tag and OpenGraph tagging on the page too, but lately (last 3 posts) it just shows company name: Here's an example. It used to work on the first handful of posts, but the last 3 or 4, it just show the "Company Name" next to the thumbnail image & above the description. <title>Some blog post title - Company Name</name></p> <p>...</p> <p>...</p> <p><span><meta </span><span class="webkit-html-attribute-name">property</span><span>='</span><span class="webkit-html-attribute-value">og:title</span><span>' </span><span class="webkit-html-attribute-name">content</span><span>='</span><span class="webkit-html-attribute-value">Some blog post title - Company Name</span><span>'/></span></p> <p> </p> <p> </p></title>

Google Places - Local Biz Listing
I have an online only website (no brick and mortar storefront). I heard somewhere that if I create a Google Local Places account, this is not good for online shops. Something to do with it taking the place of my website's SERP ranking. Is this true? Are there any downsides to it? I know I would need to hide the location so people don't come to my house.

Can you have FB Comments post to a business page?
I am looking into incorporating Facebook Comments into my site. When commenting it gives the option to the commentor to post it on their FB wall. Can it be setup to post everyone's comments on my site on our FB business page? I tried to use the commenting tools while logged in as a page, but it said I had to be logged in as a person. If not, how do I get notified someone has commented on my website through FB Comments so I can reply?
