Data for Articles and Infographics
-
I have several ideas for articles and infographics, but I am having a hard time finding reliable statistics to include. What resources do you use for this? Do you have a company you recommend for hiring to help develop this data? I appreciate any help. Thanks!

1 At the top end you have research guys like Forrester research, Boston consulting group or even Econsultancy's paid reports.
2 Banks like Merrill Lynch & Capgemini publish the yearly World's Wealth Report and in general banks have a high output of financial and commercial papers.
3 Doing Google searches like japan report inurl:.pdf can provide a lot of papers on a topic.
4 Mendeley.com is a good place for finding scientific papers and connecting directly with scientists if you want a quote or specialist research done
5 Roll your own report with a surveymonkey survey
I could go on all day talking about data sources, but without knowing what you need its not much use - the data source is dependent on the project, there is no one place to go

Only believe data you've collected yourself
That said there are a lot of things that are reasonably quantifiable. If you were to get stats on various world records I'd be happy that those listed in the Guiness Book of World Records were accurate and the same can be said for most things taken 'from the horses mouth'.

Thanks for the quick response, Stephen. I guess I am interested in both. I can probably get some approved for purchase, but for sure not all.

Well depends on the data you need and how big your budget is. I can give a number of examples, but there's no point unless we know more
Do you mean "how do I find this in Google" or do you mean "were do you buy a $5000 research paper from"?

I have managed to land a few expert pieces on external sites for my company and would like to document that on our blog in the form of mini-blurbs which lead through to the article... but if I link back to it, is that bad practice?
Of course link sharing can be punishable if it is done to share juice, and I understand that on the surface it could look like link sharing, but in reality it would just be nice to document the different successes we've had. Thoughts?

Disavow data for non-manual penalty
I'm working on cleaning link profile for a client. He has lots of crappy links pointing to his site. I tried to contact site owners so that they remove those links. No go for the most part. Since it's not a manual penalty, there's no need to specify when exactly I tried to contact those site owners, add emails to my disavow file, etc. It's my understanding that it's OK to just add domains to Google's disavow tool to submit because there was no manual action and it won't be checked by a human being. Would that be the right way to go?

Ecommerce - Discussion of Article Topics
Hello, My client is in a boring niche, not a lot of people linking anywhere. He needs good traffic within 3 and a half months. After listening to people here at seomoz, we're making five 5000-10000 word articles on topics that are useful to the customer we can promote The client is writing the information out himself and then a professional writer is going to put the final article together. We'll keep working it until it's a best-of-the-web The most useful article we have come up with is all the details about "How to select a product" There's definitely enough information for an article there. But we need to be able to promote one of the articles, and the thing that is most linked to that I've found are articles about the problems that the products solve. An article on that wouldn't be as useful to our customers. Your thoughts?

What white hat article marketing tactics do you use?
It seems there's a lot of negative connotations with the phrase "Article Marketing" as it's associated with spam, spinning, etc. I couldn't find anything other than that, which begs to ask, what are the white hat tactics that you use after you publish your article? What tools do you use to streamline the process? Social Bookmarking? RSS? Any methods you use to score quick backlinks? How do you get your content in front of bloggers?

I have a really good article, now what?
Hi guys, New guy to SEO and new site, need some help. I've got a really good article (Deal Guide: How to Pay $50/mo (or nothing) for Unlimited Everything on AT&T), a few days old and it's already going viral on StumbleUpon and is getting shared on Facebook and Tweeted. My question is, now what? What can I do to boost it's value? I feel like I should be doing something to further push my article and build recognition for my new website. Should I run a Facebook sponsored story and further increase "likes" and shares? Blog/Forum commenting? I've done a little bit of this but there's so many iPhone 4s articles out there, that I don't know where to start. Should I be hitting the high PR pages? How can I find out if comments are follow/no-follow? Any other ideas?

Is article spinning necessary?
Say I create my own original content for my website. If I want to build backlinks and promote to web 2.0 websites, do I need to spin my articles to submit to them or can I just send them a direct copy?

I don't know if i should post my articles to other forums or sharing sites to create back links?
All the articles on my blog are written on my own. I write about 5 ones per month. I don't know if i should post my articles to other forums or sharing sites to create back links? I have heard that it may cause adverse effect because my blog will be crawled more slowly than those forums, so Google will consider the articles on my blog (as) copies. Is that right?
