Social Sharing Buttons: SEO friendly ?
-
Any recommendations for an SEO friendly social sharing button company? Or ones that provide a good service and also actually helps your brand name in SEO?
I think it is important for others to be able to share my pages with colleagues and others.
Thank you,

I keep a little text file with the easiest generic code for buttons to social links, that I can paste quite reqularly.
Many of them are javascript and ugly, but I refuse to link to add this, etc..
-
I just took out the last line of code that that has the visible addthis link with that ugly box overlay.
It was easy, & now all I have left is the little squares that do not expand out into the addthis link.
As well as the idea that if ass this takes away one link by linking to their site, how many more links to they give a webpage owner by making sure that more people are adding an sharing thus linking to original content. It seems like a one step back gets you ten steps forward situation.
-
I use Addthis on my site:
It shows in their analytics as well as GA. The only problem I had with them was that it was slow at 1st. Then I added a script to my header, and my pages started load FAST FAST FAST. I didn't know that Addthis was making them slow in the beginning. I have ass this on almost every page including the blog and a couple ecommerce sites of mine.

AddThis does have the hidden links to their website in the toolbar which is a concern - http://phill.co/seo/dont-use-the-addthis-social-sharing-toolbar-its-bad-for-seo did a good write up on it, I mean if you want to give some one a free site wide link this is something worth looking into.
That been said their are plenty on the market Sharing is Sexy was a good on, I would research into the specific plug in before using it.

I have been doing research on this very same thing in the past few weeks.
I'm more then likely going to go with Add This.

That is good info...thanks....but I was talking about companies like www.addthis.com and www.sharethis.com
Where they supply additional SEO possibly and also have all the social linked buttons attached that can be put on our landing pages.

Hi utatiger,
Did you mean social friendly sites so that you can add buttons to your site?
Try Google +, FB, Twitter, LinkedIn, Stumpleupon, Reddit, Digg, Paper.li A video on the top 15 referral sites - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kN6-Opsqv8&list=UUvOLeOv_0_ijT8JlmxAFmGA&index=3&feature=plcp

B2B Social Media
Hi, Wondered if anyone has any useful articles or tips for social media for a B2B generalist ecommerce site. We have started thinking about LinkedIn, but I know we need a lot more work & potentially to look at other channels/building a brand/personality online. I've read a few articles, about finding the unboring angle of your business - I'm just wondering how we can achieve this if we have thousands of products & potential customers - it's hard to know where to start & to get the buy in 🙂 It's something I want to push, so any tips would be great 🙂

Concerned over a small video snippet autoplaying on my homepage (Negative page load speed = Negative SEO)
I'm looking at embedding a short 20 second autoplay video to show as the background in a Jumbotron (I'm using Bootstrap) right below my navbar. This looks great and works well for branding ect, however I'm concerned the loading speed will be hit after crossing over from a static image (perhaps 300kb) to a video (perhaps 2MB) which could detrimentally hit my SEO (I also can't help but notice not many SEO minded websites have these autoplaying videos - Perhaps for this reason!) Does anyone have any experience with a similar issue? Is there anything I can do to compress the video right now to a similar file size to an image? I've set it up using a media query to not show on mobile/tablets. Sam

B2B > Social Channels
Hi I work in ecommerce selling mainly B2B - I wanted to find out if anyone could recommend one social channel they've found worked well. We're a generalist, so sell a huge amount of different products, like office supplies, furniture etc to companies. We currently aren't really present on social and this is something I want to push - however with resource I think we'd only be able to focus on one at this point. I was looking at Facebook or Pinterest? Thank you

Is it OK to have two similar business sites share their Social Media (just one FB, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)?
These two businesses are owned by the same company (industry is event planning). The parent company has been in business 20+ years and caters to a corporate crowd and the more recent company started by the parent caters to consumers (weddings). Would this have any negative seo implications if they share social media accounts? or is this perhaps just more of a strategic issue i gather. And i would gather that its best for each to have their own blog. Would greatly appreciate some insight! Thanks, Christian

How to get Social Mention from an Expert in A field you know nothing about?
I have read many posts on this. However, the one thing I find challenging is getting an expert to give me a social mention. In many cases they have shared something similar in the past, and in many cases they are too busy. IMO building relationships via forums is the easiest way to find experts who will mention my site. I can engage them in a thread, and eventually take it to a Personal Messages. After building a relationship I can ask for a link or a social mention or to guest post or something. I have attempted contacting many experts via Blogs, E-mail, Facebook, Google + etc. for many different sites, IMExperince most “Experts” (people with large followings) will not give a noob (new site w/no rankings or new user w/no following) the time of day, nor a social mention. I have read many posts on engaging experts: tag them; send them flowers; like every post; make great comments. My result… bruised lips (from kissing behinds). I work with an SEO company, and every new site we work on seems to require a unique strategy for ranking. When we work on building relationships in fields we know nothing about, the outcome is weak. Unless we use forums. What are some strategies that work for you? what approach do you take when you have to build a relationship with someone you cant give value to?

Separate social media accounts for 1 biz w/ multiple locations?
I'm managing a hospital that is acquiring several locations. Are there advantages to having a Facebook and Twitter account for each location? Or is it SEO smart to use one account for discussing all properties? Thank you,

Benefit of Historical PDF Press Articles for SEO
Hello Is there SEO benefit to keep PDF news articles from 2/3 years ago live on our website? We have a page displaying positive press/pr articles to our visitors. Some of the articles are now from 2009 and I am unsure if these should remain for SEO benefit or should they be taken down or archived? Are they good content? Are they read by Search Engines? If they are old do the count against us with Search Engines? Look forward to some advice Gary McDonald

One big site or lots of little sites? Which is better for SEO and my business in general?
I realize there are some aspects of what I'm asking that only I can answer. With that said, I'm looking for some discussion about the pros / cons of each, and what are the most important factors that will push me one way or another. Let's say I have a company that has three products. One big brand, three little brands. Each of the little brands is focused on a particular sub-niche, all of which are in the general health & wellness niche. Either, I could create a large site for the big brand, with subsections for each product, and work hard on turning that domain into a goto site, with lots of articles, etc. The domain name for this one would be a made up word so I can fully control the search results. Or, another strategy would be to create smaller, "sniper" sites for each product, maybe even sites for each major search term that is interested in that product. These sites would have fewer articles. Descriptive, exact match domain names. Which is the best strategy? #1, #2, or a mixture of both? #1 seems legitimate, #2 seems a bit spammy. What are the pros and cons to each? Can anyone speak from experience about both these practices?
