Geo / Location-Based Local or City Level Rank Tracking in SEOmoz
-
Is location-based rank tracking going to be a feature in SEOmoz any time soon? I've seen in a few other company's tools that I can select a city in which to center the search around, for example... if I track the keyword "pizza" and set it to check rankings for "Seattle", it would give me different results than I've I selected "Milwaukee".
The reason for the variation in results is due to maps listings in the results sometimes.
So, my question is, will location-based rank tracking be coming to SEOmoz soon?

Hi Scott,
I wanted to let you and the rest of the people on this thread know that we now can track local rankings! Check out our post at http://moz.com/blog/local-rankings-in-moz-analytics.

Scott,
Thanks for writing in! With the acquisition of getlisted.org we are looking to provide a more robust and seamless experience for our local search SEOs, however we have features in the rankings tool in your campaign that you can utilize now for your reporting needs.
Let's take your pizza shop example. If you wanted to search for how you rank in Seattle for pizza, you would simply have to tailor your keyword as this format: KW + Geotag. In your pizza example it would just be "Pizza Seattle" or "Seattle Pizza shop", our tool will record your results and show Universal placements. You can find more information regarding this topic here: http://www.seomoz.org/help/rankings. One thing to note is if your SERP comes up as a local enhanced result (i.e. Google local), it won't be counted as a numeric result but rather a Universal placement tag on your historical information. Since our tool don't consider these results to be a traditional SERP, thus we don't display it as a numeric SERP on your report.
Hope that helps, let me know if you have any questions regarding Universal placements by replying this thread or by emailing [email protected]!
Best,
Peter

I'm not a part of the SEOmoz staff or Dev team (I play one on tv though) but from the acquisition of GetListed.org and David Mihm saying over and over that the Web App is going to have some dramatic changes in the coming months I would say yes. Check out the first paragraph in one of David's most recent blog posts. I'm really looking forward to the full integration of GetListed.org data and tools.

How to track ranking in local area?
When I track a keyword ranking with the Ranking Tool, are the results for my geographic area? So, how would I track a keyword in another location? As in, another state? Thanks,

Ranking report not accurate
I've justed signed up for SEOMOZ and testing out the ranking report software. For a client that I'm doing an audit for I've ran a ranking report against the keywords. Using Chrome Incognito I've checked the ranking and they are on the 1st page but the ranking report is showing they aren't in the top 43, any ideas why this might be? I've checked my setting and set up and that's all fine.

What is the easiest way to track historical ranking across keywords?
I could not find a way to look at past data dynamically via the SEOmoz interface which would be an amazing feature. For example, people able to change the time period like in Google Analytics to see past results. Has someone developed an excel template to keep track of this data historically if this cannot be done within SEOmoz itself?

Keyword Difficulty Tool Ranking
I'm using the keyword difficultly tool to help me create a a list of 5 keywords (out of approx 50-60) to optimise pages for on a site. However I don't want to just choose the top 5 if 3 of them are too competitive and not worth targeting. From anyone's experience, for a small, new web company who has no pages optimised at this point, do you think there is a keyword difficulty score that I should create a hard limit on? So for instance, with a group of keywords, to only target keywords that have a difficulty score of 60 or below because anything higher would be too difficult to optimise the pages for in this stage of the sites development. Thanks in advance for your help Michelle 🙂

SEOmoz campaign - keyword rankings...
Hi there, I have a quick question: Does it make a difference if I add keywords to a campaign with the '[' and ']' brackets included? I just realized that I had copy/pasted many of my keywords from the exported CSV from the Google AdWords Keyword Tool and I fear that the keyword rankings on SEOmoz might factor the brackets as part of the keywords themselves. Thanks in advance! Ben

Tracking Local Keywords in Campaigns.
When selecting keywords to track in campaign mode, how should I enter the keywords for a company located in a city that shares the same name as another city in a different state? My assumption is that if you're searching for "Garden City Plumber" within Garden City Michigan that Google will know your IP and show local results (as opposed to results from Garden City California). If I want to track the key phrase "Garden City Plumber" in campaign mode how will SEOMoz know which city to deliver results for? Thanks in advance.
