Many links from one source
-
Have recently noticed a big drop in rankings. up to 50% for some key pages.
Trying to find out why. in webmastertools I have a total of 13000 links. I have noticed that 4000 come from one site to my home page. Keyword is not related and I have never heard of the site.
Not sure if I should just ignore these links or use disallow. If I disallow won't a sudden reduction in my links look strange to google?
I have read in this forum that negative SEO is very rare but I have no idea where these links have come from or what they are for.

Hi Tim,
Since Disavow Link Tool is Google's Tool, it wouldn't look strange to them if you used it. However, are you sure those links casued your ranking to drop or there are other reasons. Many people always think that their ranks dropped is because of some bad links. Sometimes there may be other reasons such as competitors doing better SEO, getting more quality backlinks, Google didn't find your contents helpful to search, you don't update frequently and etc. Those are only examples.
Before using the Disavow Link Tool, you should make sure the links are the cause. Furthermore, did you or the webmaster receive an unnatural link email from Google? Did you get any notification from Webmasters Tool? Note that if you removed the wrong links, it might further affect your ranking. Disavow tool shouldn't be used lightly.
Hope this give you an idea whether you should use the disavow tool. Maybe publish more useful contents targeting keywords or update more frequently? Build more quality links? These should get you back on the SERP.
Hope this helps.

Spammy links
Hi I was reviewing a clients link profile and found a lot of the links they have pointed at their domain have the anchor text "Buy Viagra" or "buy viagra online" and similar. Now the website has absolutely nothing to do with this kind of business so no doubt these links are spammy. To my knowledge the website has not been penalised by Google so far. Is it best to disavow or just leave alone? Kind Regards

Guest Blogging Question? How many links in an article?
I am being offered by a blog to have more than 5 links in an article that points directly to our money sites. The blog is in the same niche. This is the first time i am being offered more than 2-3 links in an article. Should i do it? How many links should be in an article so not to be penalized by Google? Does it look unnatural to have more links in an article that points to the same site but different pages? Thanks

Reciprocal links
Are they worth anything, if they are from relevant sites? I'm I better off avoiding linking back wherever possible?

Outbound links
We are working with a large, global customer that has asked us to link to their website from about 5,000 pages of our website. The links would either point to one page on their website, or they would point to specific pages throughout their website. Is this a bad thing from an SEO perspective, as in - would either of us be penalized from search engines for doing this?

Link Detox and Link Removal
I have a question about which links to remove after running a link detox from Link Research Tools. First a little back story. I had had an SEO company link building for one of the websites I own. But I have recently stopped working with them. In the last month my rankings have near dropped off the charts. I have just recently gotten access to Google webmaster tools and noticed an unnatural link warning from back in March. So yesterday I ran link detox and it reported 19 toxic links, 120 suspicious links, and 24 healthy links. It's rather obvious that I should remove all of the toxic links. They all from sites that have been deindexed by google. But my question is a about the suspicious links. What should my criteria be for removing them? Am I better off removing them all and leaving my site with only 24 healthy links or should I personally comb through them and remove only the worst of the worst so that I leave my site with a few more links? I'd really like to get the site ready to resubmit to google as soon as I can. Thoughts? yyCOf.png

Can you have too many badge links?
If you badge program becomes really successful, can too many badge links hurt your rankings? Since they are image links that are often placed in the sidebar of blogs, could Google mistake badges as do-follow ads and apply a penalty?
