Mobile and hidden content - Any issue for SEO?
-
In reference to mobile - am I walking a fine SEO line when it comes to hidden content on mobile?
On the responsive variations of sites we are working on some content is hidden (that displays on the desktop version of the site) so that pages on mobile can display correctly.
Is this negative for SEO?
Appreciate any feedback
Cheers.

I don't know of any instances of elements hidden on mobile causing a penalty or similar issue. So I can't give you criteria/examples.
With a truly responsive design, Googlebot and Googlebot Mobile are going to see the same source code. There should be no difference, just a difference in display settings based on viewport size.
Google publicly supports serving up entirely different source code for mobile users on the same URL - so hiding a few things with JavaScript/CSS based on viewport is relatively tame and has become a standard for delivering a fast-loading and usable mobile experience.

Thanks Mike.
Is there any instance where hidden content on mobile may become an issue - just after specific criteria/examples of when this can cause an issue. Or is it simply fine to hide on mobile versions for responsive design.
-
This is not cause for worry. As Stefan noted, this is common with responsive design today. Google does not want to start penalizing sites that roll out responsive designs.

This is not an issue, it is quite common today with responsive designs. If hiding elements is not for tricking the crawlers then you should be safe.

Plugins and SEO
I'd like some expert guidance. I've searched for a theme that does what I want and finally found something I like, but I'm wondering what you all think I should do to increase it's searchability. The plugin has all the listings and styling. All I need to do is past the code into the wordpress site ad voila! I have a page. Using the widget lets me allow upvotes and provide map etc. But it means the content is inside the widget instead of on the page. What would you modify if you wanted to keep the theme & widget to get the best results. http://best-of-sacramento.com/dentists This is my staging site.

Mobile Usability update mobile and desktop versions
Hello, A number of our clients have both m.website.com and website.com versions of their site. Per the latest update coming in April from Google, do I need to make sure all clients with just a desktop version are mobile-friendly (according to WT). Also, do I need to make both versions for those clients that have both m.website.com and website.com mobile-friendly or just the m.website.com? Thank you!!!!

Duplicate content
I'm getting an error showing that two separate pages have duplicate content. The pages are: | Help System: Domain Registration Agreement - Registrar Register4Less, Inc. http://register4less.com/faq/cache/11.html 1 27 1 Help System: Domain Registration Agreement - Register4Less Reseller (Tucows) http://register4less.com/faq/cache/7.html | These are both registration agreements, one for us (Register4Less, Inc.) as the registrar, and one for Tucows as the registrar. The pages are largely the same, but are in fact different. Is there a way to flag these pages as not being duplicate content? Thanks, Doug.

Similar Content vs Duplicate Content
We have articles written for how to setup pop3 and imap. The topics are technically different but the settings within those are very similar and thus the inital content was similar. SEOMoz reports these pages as duplicate content. It's not optimal for our users to have them merged into one page. What is the best way to handle similar content, while not getting tagged for duplicate content?

Duplicate Content issue
I have been asked to review an old website to an identify opportunities for increasing search engine traffic. Whilst reviewing the site I came across a strange loop. On each page there is a link to printer friendly version: http://www.websitename.co.uk/index.php?pageid=7&printfriendly=yes That page also has a link to a printer friendly version http://www.websitename.co.uk/index.php?pageid=7&printfriendly=yes&printfriendly=yes and so on and so on....... Some of these pages are being included in Google's index. I appreciate that this can't be a good thing, however, I am not 100% sure as to the extent to which it is a bad thing and the priority that should be given to getting it sorted. Just wandering what views people have on the issues this may cause?
