Content Marketing

Content forms the foundation of SEO. If you want to rank, you first need content. If you want to rank well in a competitive environment, you likely need an exceptional content strategy. Content can take many forms: blog posts, product pages, pdfs, videos, forums, and more. Almost anything you put on your website for your audience counts as "content."

Content Marketing is the practice of creating and marketing content for the purpose of driving traffic, increasing awareness, and/or supporting a brand.

In SEO, good content can also drive links to your website, which in turn helps to increase your search traffic from Google.

Long Tail is the Fun Tail

The longtail of search engine rankings is ranking for terms which usually have a few words in them, have little traffic for them but are easy to rank for. SEO For Journalists: Landing Pages (Part 5 of 5)

Due to the nature of search engines, and the weight that they put on the authority of a site or page, a simple news article, with few if any links pointing at it, will often struggle to rank against some of the high traffic phrases which RBI are aiming to take ownership of. A landing page (which is in many ways the online equivalent of a print feature) allows you to aggregate ...

Copy - Why do so many neglect you?

Sometimes when I start my online experience with a website, I ponder and think to myself about how much business the owners must be losing, for one reason only – the copy, or “general text” on the site is …. well, crap. Yes it may be a great design, but that’s not going to entice me into working with this company, I want to know what the site is about and what...

Kathy Sierra's Unfortunate Situation

A few months back I wrote a post about female bloggers, and how I don't get shaken up or outraged about the imbalance between female bloggers and male bloggers in the tech/SEO sphere. For the most part, I still stand by what I wrote, but today I'm going to (sort of) eat my words and talk about Kathy Sierra's unfortun...
