Can Adwords Increase Organic Traffic?
-
Hello,
A friend of mine has noticed an increase in organic traffic since they started using AdWords. Has anyone had similar results or could this be coincidence?
Thanks in advance!

What about the CTR of your website? Google says "increased CTR as well as more traffic makes your website increase in authority" - therefore increasing organic ranking of all or most keywords - (Google didn't say that part but it makes sense).
If AdWords provides both of these things to your website wouldn't your organic rankings increase / increase over time?

Great answer Patrick you didn't miss a single point.

Hi there
I feel it's pretty indirect but there can be benefits. I use paid as it pertains to organic traffic in the following ways:
Brand awareness - If you are looking to capture a particular niche or industry and don't have a well established name or brand, start looking into keywords to bid on that can garner a bit more attention for your brand. This will help users not only see your brand and name, but it will help build the association between you brand and an industry. It's also a great way to introduce your products, the benefits of that product, and why you should not be the best choice, but the only choice in the industry.
Keyword / query testing - If you have a list of keywords/queries that you are looking to target, paid is a great way to test your hunches and see how users engage with your content. Are you answering their question? Are you selling yourself well enough for conversions for particular keywords/queries? What is your Quality Score for keywords/queries your testing? Do you need to improve your content? These questions can help you moving forward with your content creation that helps SEO.
Content distribution - I love using paid search for quick content distribution, especially if it's timely and relevant. It helps get eyes on it quicker and can also help speed up the sharing process, which Google is thought to look into a bit to help gauge what's popular on the web. Again, this is just speculation, but it's been talked about in a few studies.
These are the ways that I see paid indirectly helping with your organic traffic and visibility. It helps build your brand, helps you better gauge your keywords and how your content is converting certain keywords, as well as helps get your content out quicker and efficiently through targeting. While not direct, there are benefits from a paid search standpoint that can help indirectly with organic search.
Let me know if this helps - good luck!

In theory, they should have no impact. However, I do think that seeing the ad and then seeing the link in the organic results as well makes a searcher feel more compelled to click. My traffic increase coincided with Adwords budget increase too. I'd been doing some SEO work before though and I'd like to think it was more that. Will be interesting to see how others have got on.

Adwords Conversions - Trying to track button clicks that fire when Bootstrap modal contact form clicked/opened
Hi there, I'm trying to implement google adwords conversions on a particular client's website. They have used bootstrap as the framework for their site and mainly open up contact forms within a bootstrap modal, after a button is clicked. See here: http://www.gtwstorage.co.uk/ I thought I had successfully implemented the adwords conversion tracking however it has been a week now, and my conversions still say they are "unverified". I wonder if anyone else has encountered this before and knows what I might be doing wrong. Thank you in advance, Darren

Is there any reason to add the word "buy" to our Adwords keywords?
Was having a discussion with someone so I am going to write this up as neutral as possible and let you guys decide. We have a large keyword list and they are all setup as phrase. Should we go back and add the word buy in front of all those keywords? Even though they are setup as phrase already. Example: "Widget" (as a phrase) Should we go back and add "Buy Widget" as a keyword?

Google Adwords Conversion Tracking - Recording Wrong Page
Hi Guys I have a problem with my Google Adwords conversion tracking. Basically whenever I check to see which page it is recording, it shows me the incorrect one. Now I probably checked a thousand time now and the conversion tracking code is not on this specific page, but is on the one that I really want to track. I have also checked that the code is correct and that there is nothing missing. But strangely enough when I look at historical data, it does show that is was tracking conversions on the correct page, but for some reason the past couple of weeks it's reporting conversions from another page, which is the incorrect one. If somebody could please give me some insight as to what could maybe be the cause of this, I would appreciate it. Thank You Dave

Competitors using bots for AdWords ?
I was having a discussion with a SEO manager on a LinkedIn group about page speed (she pretends that page speed is not taken into account by Google for SERPs at all and claims that all of what Matt Cutts says is BS) ; and she explained that she is using bots to click on her client's competitors AdWords and "kill their daily budget" So my question is, if you run/manage AdWords campaigns, have you ever met noticed such a behaviour, past the few usual click fraud rate ? What is your average fraud rate ?

AdWords question on text ads
Hey all, I have a certain format I want to follow on my text ads across several ad groups. I deleted all the past ads and only three ad groups remain with ads that follow this format. When I hit add new ad group, the ad come pre-populated with the text of a now deleted ad and I cannot for the life of me change it. I would love for one of my active ads to come up as I only have to change one name and one number in each ad. How do I control what that default ad is? How can I make it stop being an ad I have deleted. Please help!

In Google Adwords, can I create negative dollar-amount keywords?
example of negative keywords: -$40 driving lessons -35 dollar driving lessons The driving lessons I'm selling are $55 an hour, so I obviously don't want unqualified leads chewing through my budget when they clearly don't want to spend $55 on a lesson. I already have the price mentioned in my ads, but I want to negative out the dollar amounts because people are still stupid enough to click without reading the ad. Any help will be appreciated! Matt
