Impact of 301-redirected domains on OSE Metrics
-
When looking at the OSE metrics (DA, PA, Number Linking RDs etc.) is it purely based on OSEs evaluation of the specific domain or will it take into account links that have been 301-redirected to the domain?

Thanks for your reply.

OSE will count the the domain that is redirected to you as a link. I don't think OSE counts links pointing to the 301 domain ( everyone correct me if I'm wrong)
Although Google will pass between 90-99% of the link juice to the site that is receiving a 301 redirect.

I have 2 linking root domains on my URL. But I don't get the whole Root domain thing. So I don't understand how I can improve it?
I have 2 linking root domains on my URL. But I don't get the whole Root domain thing. So I don't understand how I can improve it? I copy and pasted this, from my Links page in my campaign because I can't seem to grasp what a root domain is: 'A higher number of good quality linking root domains improves a page's ranking potential'. Can some one explain to me what this is. As simply as possible. Here's my site www.Thumannagency.com Thanks in advance:)

Looking For URL Anchor Text Metrics Definitions
Running some keyword difficulty reports that are showing some interesting data around URL Anchor Text Metrics. But ti fully understand them, I need some definitions, which I cannot find anyone. So can someone point me to definitions of these terms: Exact Anchor Text Links % Links w/ Exact Anchor Text Linking Root Domains w/ Exact Anchor Text % Linking Root Domains w/ Exact Anchor Text Partial Anchor Text Links % Links w/ Partial Anchor Text Partial Anchor Text Root Doms. % Linking Root Domains w/ Partial Anchor Text Also, if say Exact Anchor Text Links is bolded purple, that means that URL has more Exact Anchor Text Links than any other URL in the report. Is that correct? Thanx David

Domain Authority
Has anyone ever experienced a domain authority of 1, 0 links for web 2.0 websites like tumblr, wordpress, weebly, etc? I know it's normal to see a page authority of 1 if there are no links to a url or if opensite explorer hasn't been updated. Is this some kind of bug with opensite explorer?

Why did Domain Authority go up so much? Did you change your measurement?
Our Domain Authority has been at 42 or 43 for a couple months and it just increased to 54. Why did this happen? I would like to think that it is because of out SEO and linkbuilding work. However, I suspect something else may be involved because the 3 competitors we track also all increased between 10 to 25 points at the same time. What happened? Did you make changes in the way you score DA or is this the result of changes in what pages you crawl? Or what?

What is the quickest way to get OSE data for many URLs all at once?
I have over 400 URLs in a spreadsheet and I would like to get Open Site Explorer data (domain/page authority/trust etc) for each URL. Would I use the Linkscape API to do this quickly (ie not manually entering every single site into OSE)? Or is there something in OSE or a tool I am overlooking? And whatever the best process is, can you give a brief overview? Thanks!! -Dan

Historical Linkscape/OSE data available?
Hey Mozzerati, I'm curious if there's a way to expose and analyze historical data from each previous Linkscape/OpenSiteExplorer (OSE) update. Essentially, I'm looking for something similar to MajesticSEO's Backlink History tool that can show you both daily links over a short time as well as cumulative links over a long period. I think the utility of such a tool is to see which competitors have gained many links over a short period, signalling that they're engaging in some form of link-building/-buying/-baiting activity. Is there any way to yield this data (other than to record it manually after each Linkscape/OSE update) from SEOmoz PRO tools?
