Title tag punctuation question?
-
I know that exact matches in the title tag are more powerful but how much will using an ellipse the title affect my results? For example I would like to use "What is… Actinide?" instead of "What is Actinide?"
-
Thank you for the response Mike but I'm not asking an editorial question. "What is...Actinide?" is just an example. I'm curious to know if the ellipse or other punctuation effects the weighting of my title or if Google basically ignores it. When I search similar patterns with and without the ellipse I get the exact same search results.

I would leave out the punctuation to be honest. Not just in favor of the keyword match, but also for the users. I, personally, would be much more inclined to click on a website with the title "What is Actinide?" than "What is...Actinide?". Better in both ways.

How should I rename my product titles
On my furniture e-commerce website, most of my product pages have a name of a colour that no user would naturally search for, such as: Duck Egg Chesterfield Sofa Kingfisher Velvet Queen Anne Armchair If I switched all the product names to simplified names such as Blue Linen Chesterfield Sofa there would be a lot of duplicate page titles, as there are many different shades of Blue linen chesterfield sofa's on my website. I am therefore thinking that I should change the name of each of my products to something like: Duck Egg Blue Linen Chesterfield Sofa Kingfisher Blue Velvet Queen Anne Armchair I would then be able to rank for terms such as "Blue Chesterfield Sofa" and "Blue Velvet Queen Anne Armchair". My question is, will I have a better chance of ranking if the keyword I'm targeting comes at the start of the page title? for example Blue Linen Chesterfield Sofa, Duck Egg Blue Velvet Queen Anne Armchair, Kingfisher

'key word' SEO question
Does having ' ' around your keyword/phrase within the content on your website have an effect on SEO for that keyword?

For example, in the copy of my site, we reference 'buy local' instead of buy local. I am trying to optimize for buy local and I am wondering if the apostrophes are getting in the way? Thank you so much! -Sam0 -
Amazon Item Title VS Item keywords
I am a new seller on amazon. People told me that i shouldn't put the same anchor texts on the item title and the item keywords. I am trying to sell an very competitive item: HDMI cable, which it doesn't have much different than what everyone is selling. Any suggestions of what i should put?

Ranking for more keywords - Noob question
Hi, I've noticed recently that our site is ranking for a fraction of the keywords that our competitors are ranking for. In terms of increasing the number of keyword rankings per page would it simply be a case of adding optimised copy to each page? Thanks, Dan

Duplicate Page Title Recommendation (For pretty much identical products)
Hi, I'm currently writing the meta data for the launch of a new ecommerce site for our company & the way the site is set out means that each product has it's own landing page. The issue with this is that we have a lot of products that either do the same thing or are only a very slight variation of another product. This is causing a bit of a problem writing the page titles because as you can imagine in order to keep it relevant I'm having to pretty much copy other page titles. For example Product A 3/4 Length | Keywords | Company Product A Full Length | Keywords | Company Also as you can imagine it's a bit of an issue for the on-page text due to the only variation being the length (in this example) with only a slight bit of changed content to accomodate. I was wondering if anyone had come across similar problems to this and if so how did they resolve the issue? I don't really want to be penalised by Google for multiple duplicate content/metadata across the site. Should I just target the keyword for one of these products and then target a still relevant keyword, but one that has next to no searches for the other, similar product do you reckon? Cheers

Press Release Title Optimization
I'm getting ready to distribute a press release on PRWeb and had a question regarding the proper way to optimize the headline. Should I use our targeted keywords or our brand in the headline? We don't have a really strong brand, we are not a very well know company throughout the business world. The choices would read like this: "Maker of Blue Widgets Receives Pretigous [big company name] Award" or "[Brand Name] Receives Prestigious [big company name] Award" Any thoughts? Thanks -Brandon

Is the all in title technique helpful?
I watched a tutorial on lynda.com about keyword research. And they said to use the All In Tittle trick to see how many pages on google are optimized for that keyword - do you reccommend using that method as well? In google, you type allintitle:"key word phrase" and the results show how many page titles are optimized for that phrase. Should I use this technique as well when choosing keywords?

Page Title Optimisation
We have a fairly large client for which I look after the analytics, and just recently the SEO also. This celebrity client already recieves near a million visitors per month, 96% of the time for her name. I'm using Googles keyword tool and search trends for insights as to what people are searching for As I get further and further into optimising different pages, I'm running out of ideas for Unique page titles to drive additinal traffic as they have all been covered. {high volume exact searches that is} I'm not sure if I'm over using her name also: for example most of the clients pages start with: "First name last name Keyphrase" should I be using her first name last name on every title? Thanks in advance for what seems like a simple task, however when your up against it for the first time, it's a "Do I Don't I situation!" Kind Regards Sean
