Http:// vs http://www.
-
Why is it that when I run an "On Page Optimization Keyword Report" for my website I get a different score when using http://www.tandmkitchens.com vs http://tandmkitchens.com.
My keyword is "Kitchen Remodeling"
http://www.tandmkitchens.com scores an A
http://tandmkitchens.com scores a B
It's the same page yet one url scores higher than the other.
Any help!
Thanks

Alan, I was only talking about the on page report. Good oversight on your part.
Thanks again
-
Alan great indepth feedback on assigned value.

I think gary was talking about the on page report, that only looks at on page factors not links

Great Stuff Alan. Thank you so much for the input. I owe you a pint!

Generally speaking, every internal link, and every external link pointing into your site, every social or web mention of one or the other, will have an impact. So if, for example, there are 10 links pointing to www.tandemkitchens.com and 8 pointing to tandemkitchens.com, the www version will be given more weight.
Where it gets more complex is how well search engines and evaluation tools do at compensating for ranking signals when both www and non www are indexed or capable of being indexed. Allowing both to be will inevitably lead to imperfect algorithmic evaluations - there's no perfect system that can properly discern that both versions are not meant to be unique (thus causing algorithmically perceived duplicate content conflicts). And ultimately, that leads to an inaccurate distribution of assigned value.
It's for these reasons that one should be chosen as the standard, 301 redirects created, and every attempt possible then made to have links standardized (the least controllable factor being how others choose to link to you. Yet with 301 redirects, you at least ensure the most ranking value possible be passed from the non-indexed version even if links point to it.

My thoughts exactly Alan "Weird"
I'll try the 301 redirect to www.
Thanks for the help!
-
that is wierd, what about your indervidual scores, all your ticks are they all the same?
You know you should have a 301 to www or non www,

Website URL, Robots.txt and Google Search Console (www. vs non www.)
Hi MOZ Community,
Technical SEO | | Badiuzz
I would like to request your kind assistance on domain URLs - www. VS non www. Recently, my team have moved to a new website where a 301 Redirection has been done. Original URL : https://www.example.com.my/ (with www.) New URL : https://example.com.my/ (without www.) Our current robots.txt sitemap : https://www.example.com.my/sitemap.xml (with www.)
Our Google Search Console property : https://www.example.com.my/ (with www.) Question:
1. How/Should I standardize these so that Google crawler can effectively crawl my website?
2. Do I have to change back my website URLs to (with www.) or I just need to update my robots.txt?
3. How can I update my Google Search Console property to reflect accordingly (without www.), because I cannot see the options in the dashboard.
4. Is there any to dos such as Canonicalization needed, or should I wait for Google to automatically detect and change it, especially in GSC property? Really appreciate your kind assistance. Thank you,

#1 rankings on both HTTP and HTTPS vs duplicate content
We're planning a full migrate to HTTPS for our website which is accessible today by both **www.**website.com, **http://**www.website.com as well as **https://**www.website.com. After the migrate the website will only be accessible by https requests and every other request (Ex. www or http) will be redirected to the same page but in HTTPS by 301 redirects. We've taken a lot of precautions like fixing all the internal links to HTTPS instead of HTTP etc. My questions is: What happened to your rankings for HTTP after making a full migrate to HTTPS?

Secure HTTP Change - No Links in WMT
Website was changed over to secure HTTP about twp months ago. Just looked in Google Webmaster Tools and it only shows about 8 inbound links. We did a permanent 301 redirect for all URLs. There are over 800 links according to Open Site Explorer. Is it just that they are showing only the HTTPS inbound links? Should I add the HTTPS version in WMT? Thanks for any assistance

Hi, what shall i do with the old / passed productpages? The situation right now is, that all product url's are being saved wich cost me a lot of duplicate content and lot's of url's being indexed and crawled and no use to the website at all. As there are affiliate links to those passed url's i want to give them a 301 to the category page wicht fitst best for a time of period? Do you think that's the best solution? And what time of period shall ik give those 301 redirects? Thnx and grtz, Leonie

Setting title tag with javascript/jquery
Hi there, I'm looking for some advice. I've recently implemented a few jQuery functions which gets specific content from the page and then sets the title and description. See working example here. It seems to work fine but my question I have is whether Google bots can read it and whether it might actually hinder my SEO efforts? Any advice would be really appreciated! Peter

New website branding, differences between http://www and http://
Hey Mozers! We will be creating another brand pretty soon with some pretty cool interactive features and before we start development of the site I was wondering if there are any pros/cons to branding the site sans the www. For example http://example123.com and http://www.example123.com. I would much prefer to brand it has http://example123.com but I just wanted to check first to see if that would have any negative SEO ramifications. It seems that it might just be a preference as I looked at Facebook and Twitter and they both do it differently, same with Groupon and LivingSocial. Looking forward to hearing from you guys!
