Seo-friendly way to post blog content to homepage?
-
We have an e-commerce website.
We would like to feature content from our blog on the site's homepage (both on same domain).
The content we want to feature is latest posts titles (say 5) plus the few first lines from each post.
We want search engines to be able to read this content.
Is there a SEO friendly way to achieve this?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, we're using WordPress, but the e-commerce site runs on Netsuite so we can't use php on the homepage.

Thank you very much for your detailed reply, but we don't have access to the server, it's a Netsuite e-commerce site.

If you have a static html site you can write a Perl program to read your blog feed and rewrite it into a server-side include file. Then you can add that include to your homepage - or any other page on your site.
If you trigger that Perl program with a cron job on your server you can have your server-side include updated daily, monthly or hourly.
You can also have the Perl program make server-side includes by category and these can be added across your site on relevant pages.
One advantage of this is that when you publish a new blog post you can BAM... get hundreds of links into it within an hour of publication - or you can trigger the Perl program manually.

Assuming your using WordPress for your blog, you can get the latest posts with get_posts http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/get_posts
Either just displaying the_title or the_excerpt will be just fine for SEO

I have a huge blog which is connected to a company website. This blog is full with dead links and spam comments. Is it worth to clean up? The website itself ranks very well in search engines. I'm amazed with all de spam that it still ranks. Do you think by removing all de dead links and spam the site will improve ranking in search results?

WordPress - duplicate content
I'm using WordPress for my website. However, whenever I use the post section for news, I get a report back from SEOmoz saying that there's duplicate content. What it does is it posts them in the Category and Archive section. Does anyone know if Google sees this as duplicate content and if so how to stop it? Thanks

Product links on homepage
Hi, I;m wondering if it really does aid SEO or even hinder it now to have lists of top selling products as links on the base of each page. This was recommended to us sometime ago by a consultant so we did it but is it outdated? I'm concerned it may penalise our pages now by creating too many links? opinions appreciated. wwww.gourmetdirect.com and scroll down to see what I mean

Checking for content duplication against content on your own site.
We are currently trying to rewrite our product descriptions and I'm afraid some of the salespeople that are writing the descriptions are plagiarizing one-another's writing. Is there a content duplication checker that will allow you to check a piece of writing against a specific site rather than all of the web?

Hotspot area for SEO
Hi, we have an online store: http://www.redwrappings.com.au/ There's been a debate regarding which area is recognised to be the most important place/hotspot for SEO: Free delivery van area (top left panel) OR Top menu navigation Given that if you look at the page html source code, the top navigation loads last and the free delivery fan area is the first one to be read in the html source code. We did this because we want the body page content (h1 & text content) to be read first by search engine robot & also the body can load faster for the user. Is this the right thing to do or we better off load the top navigation first? Thanks
