Alexa Ranking Sites
-
I found these two sites giving my competitor link juice:
http://www.webnamelist.com/alexa/Alexa_186.html
http://www.list-of-domains.org/alexa/Alexa_185.html
I have seen these sites before and I just dont get why they are authoritative.
The funny thing is I did a search for my competitors link on the page and its not showing up, is this a problem in site explorer? Why is site explorer mentioning these sites as my competitions best links when these links do not exist on their site?

It looks like those sites update the alexa rankings of the sites they list daily. This means that where a site shows up on those lists will change based on when the site did their scrape, and when alexa updated their information.
The information you see in open site explorer is then based on when OSE did their last crawl of the list sites.
I think open site explorer releases a new index monthly (I could be wrong on that) so it would make sense that it doesn't keep up with a site changing its page content daily.
As for link juice, I wouldn't give those sites much weight in terms of prioritizing link targets for your site.
They seem to exist mostly to serve ads which pretty much flies in the face of what google's leaked document about rating guidelines notes:

SEO and page redirects from a high ranking site quandary
We are launching a site on a new domain that is taking the place of a group (subset) of pages in an existing domain. BUT The pages on the existing domain have really good SEO rankings in a very competitive category and we want to leverage the traffic it gets today in the best way, so.... Which of the following would be the best practice in this case (in regards to SEO)? Modify the existing pages' content so that there are prominent calls to action that lead the users to the new domain. Create permanent redirects for the existing pages for their counterparts on the new domain. This is more direct for the user but we don't know how it will affect the current ranking. Something other than the above. Many thanks for you help Gary

Domain Authority: Sites with lower numbers get higher ranking.
We had a question about your online tools for http://pro.seomoz.org/campaigns/30642 The Domain Authority for http://pucherinsurance.com/ is 67: Higher than most of our competitors such as <cite><cite>bluecross.ca which has a rank of 54. </cite> </cite> We show up lower in the actual search results. An example phrase would be Visitors to Canada health Insurance. We get an A grade for onsite reports and we are working on the duplicate content and titles. We appear to be doing everything right but still rank lower than expected. Any thoughts?
