What is better for SEO - local video file or youtube video?
-
Should I use a video player and upload the videos for my website or should I put my videos at youtube and use youtube player?
-
Hey Naghirniac, I want to mentioned you that If you had submitted the video to you tube then it will plays a crucial role in ranking & overall the visibility of your website will increased because you tube is the largest search engine after Google.
If you are not getting then please carefully saw the example below.
Suppose a there is a company name abc.com who is in the field of mobile development field. If they want to advertise the company through a video or they make a video showing their working culture then it is not sufficient that they only put the video on their website only. But they have to put the video on the social networking websites or they upload the video on the you tube to increase their web presence in the field of software development or in order to promote themselves & we all know that the best measure to promote anything is the search engines & social media.
I hope that you will find the solution.

Hi Miguel,
Essentially it depends what you are trying to achieve. If you're trying to get Google to crawl your videos and offer you a video result in the organic SERPs, then you should self-host the videos, or use a third party hosting company such as Vimeo Pro or Wistia. Youtube is great for seeding your content to a wider audience and there's nothing wrong with embedding YouTube videos on your site if you can provide valuable supporting content. YouTube videos also typically rank well in the SERPs - but obviously this wont help the SEO of your main site.
What sort of content do you have? - Hopefully i can help to offer some more specific advice.
Thanks,
Phil

My question is more effective: should google give more importance for a video based in my website, or there is no problem to use youtube?
Is more in the side of the content. Putting the video inside my website, this is more content?

Hi Naghirniac, Before investing in services from an SEO company you should be aware of the goals you are trying to attain and the audience you are trying to reach. Here are some quick pros and cons of both types of SEO.
Local SEO
Focused on your local cities, counties, statesPros
Less competitive
Less expensive
Quicker resultsCons
No national exposure
Less overall website traffic
Rank for fewer keyword phrasesNational SEO
Focused on your country and global searchesPros
Increased overall website traffic
Great for marketing a shopping cart of other ex-commerce related website
Rank for more keyword stringsCons
Long time for results
More expensive
Less quality leadsBy analyzing the all above you can proceed with video marketing too.

A lot depends upon your goals and the level of competition. Do you want your best videos next to ads for competitors or your competitors' videos?
I plan to do some of both. I would not want YouTube to outrank my site for the more unique content which I believe will convert better. (Similar to Egol's reminders about not giving your best content to article hubs or even guest postings). I'll accept the traffic from the YouTube videos and try to steer viewers to the complete video library available only on wwwmysitecom.

Dealing with negative SEO
Interested to know people strategies for detecting and mitigating negative SEO. Previously I've used link monitoring tool and kept an eye on all new back links coming in to any page on the site. I have then manually assessed each one again using some tools and actually visiting the website. However, this always leaves me with one dilemma. Regardless of my assessment how do search engines see that link? I run three lists a white list, grey list and blacklist. White list - very relevant and have a lot of authority. I.e. leading industry blogs and forums. Grey list - out of topic/industry, directories Blacklist - sites de-indexed by Google, illegal content or absolute spam (i.e. one page filled with hundreds of links to different domains) Do you have any thoughts? How do you assess if link is bad?

Embedding Video for SEO? YouTube, Vimeo, or Wistia?
I believe Vimeo has the advantages of being able to embed your video on your website without advertising and the ability to brand the player with your company name. Can't do that with YouTube. However obviously Google give a bit more weight to YouTube videos in search results. But I'm talking about ranking the website, not the video. If the objective is to provide the biggest boost to the website's ranking (not the individual video), is it best to embed the YouTube video or can you post the video on both YouTube, Vimeo, and Wistia and embed the Vimeo or Wistia video? My gut feeling is that Google would see the direct linkage between the video on YouTube and the website it's embedded on and potentially that would have (albeit probably small) more benefit in the website's ranking than embedding the Vimeo or Wistia video? HOWEVER, re the SEO claims on this Wistia page true? Would the best strategy be to use Wistia for embedding and then also post the videos on a YouTube channel for maximum exposure? From Wistia: _Vimeo, like YouTube, is a powerful domain for SEO, but when you host your videos on these platforms, you are not doing your website's SEO a favor. When you upload your video to Vimeo or YouTube, the search engines are indexing the original url, not your website's. In contrast, when you embed a Wistia video on your website, your website gains all of the SEO benefits. Vimeo videos are ranked to drive traffic to Vimeo to keep users on their platform. Wistia videos drive traffic to your website—not ours._

Django and SEO - Multicountry site - Is Django really SEO friendly?
Hi Everyone, Our client is requesting that we use Django for her project. I am really uneasy about this for several reasons. The client wants a multi-country site that is completely SEO friendly. I love Wordpress and if I had to do this project it would be a Wordpress site with WPML + Yoast plugins site. Questions Is Django SEO friendly and what "plugins" should I be using? Is there a multi-country plugin for Django that keeps or adds typical SEO features? Can you recommend any great articles? Any example sites would be GREATLY appreciated Thanks

Any quality Local SEO tools with good reports?
We have used BrightLocal for some time now. With Bright Local we do not like the reports from a qualitative point of view in that the information is often wrong.

Technical SEO issue
Hi Everyone, I have encountered a major issue in one of my clients website(kitchen appliance website). This client has 2 main websites (A & B) linked with each other representing 2 different categories of appliances. We are trying to create some brand pages that this store carries. One brand page has been created and when searching for it on SERP, the results found should be under URL A but it is under URL B. I don't know what is going on? Can someone explain me what happened? Thank you,

Indirect SEO boost from links
I have 2 ecommerce sites, each with a blog. I am increasing my linkbuilding efforts, but I don't want to build too many links directly to my 2 sites over a short period of time. I have decided that I will add a certain number of links to sites/pages that are already linking to my main sites (for example, a blog post on my blog, guest post on another blog, article submission, etc.). How much of a benefit can I expect in terms of rankings? Has anyone tested this out or experimented with something like this? What are the pros and cons? I appreciate thoughtful comments.
