Track shopping cart abandonment?
-
We have an e-commerce site, and we use Google Analytics.
We have created a "sales" goal + the funnel.
Our funnel has the following structure:
shopping cart - register - login - address - shipping - payment method - confirmation - sales
This helps us track "goal abandonment". But we're also interested in tracking "shopping cart abandonment". For example we can see that 100 visitors enter the shopping cart, and 80 of them proceed to register or other steps in the funnel. This means that 20% left the car (shown by a red arrow in Google Analytics).
Is there other way to see how many people left the shopping cart without proceeding to any of the other steps in the funnel, for example, people that closed their browsers or went to a page in the site not included in the funnel?
I know I'm missing something here...
Thanks!

I'm a bit confused by what you're asking, because it sounds like you've answered your own question.
You're looking for shopping cart abandonment, which is the first step in your funnel. You have data that shows 100 people enter, and 80 proceed to the next step. Isn't that what you're looking for? 20% shopping cart abandonment?
Have you looked at the funnel visualizer yet? That might shed some light as well.

Thanks for your reply.
Any other comments are welcome. Does anyone know a way to track only cart abandonment with Google Analytics, different from the one described in my first post.
Thanks!

I had a similar requirement. After some thought I decided to code my own solution for my site.
I wrote a module for my Cubecart Site that recorded Carts as they were populated and then flagged the carts that were checked out successfully thus leaving me with carts which were abandoned prior to check out.
I got some startling data that jump started some UX testing on my add to cart and browsing processes. After some analysis and chatting to customers I managed to sort a lot of issues and my abandonment rate decreased significantly, though I still see a fair few, however I think a certain amount are unavoidable.
Good Luck.

How can I track my rankings on Google Images?
I noticed a small amount of traffic coming from a particular very generic keyword. Being pleasantly surprised that we are ranking for this, and after some digging, I found that we are actually ranking in Google images, rather than in the web results. How can I track whether other keywords are ranking in Google images? I use Rank Checker to track keywords in the main web results, but this doesn't have a function for Google Images. Help please - thanks.

GA: Want to have a profile tracking only 3 out of 4 subdomains only?
Hi Mozzers, I would like to track 3 out of 4 subdomains in a profile on GA. I have 4 subdomains: www.example.com m.example.com subdomain1.example.com subdomain2.example.com I would like to create a profile with only the first 3 subdomains without subdomain2.example.com. Can someone tell me what to do to get this? I also have a profile called combined profile that includes all of them with this filter(attached). Can I add another filter to this profile? if it is the case what should I add and how? if not, creating another profile would be the only other way, right? if it is the case how can I filter it to get Thanks a lot! u4HxY06

What's the final word on Image Search tracking in Google Analytics?
Sorry if this has been answered but I can't seem to get a straight answer to my questions by searching around. How is traffic referred by Google Images counted in Google Analytics? I know it used to be referral traffic from google.com/imgres. A lot of things I have read say that it should all be under google/organic now, but my site still gets referral traffic from google.com/imgres, so that can't be. However I also get traffic as google/organic that I am pretty sure is from image search, because we don't rank for the keyword normally, but we do for image search. What's the deal? How is traffic from an embedded image in a regular result page counted? How can I segment my image search traffic better? It would be great to see image search traffic as it's own medium. I found a script here -- http://jrom.net/google-images-in-google-analytics -- that looks promising, has anyone used it or can recommend another way? I haven't used the GA API very much so I want to make sure the script is kosher and won't screw up my numbers.

Looking for a Drupal module to track conversions...
I don't use drupal very often, so I'm looking for some help. We manage two sites in drupal, and the way they are set up, it creates a new thank you page every time someone fills out a contact form. The thank you page displays the information that was entered, so I assume it is necessary to create a page to do this (this was set up before I came on board). What I'm trying to do is track conversions in analytics by thank you page, but because a different node is created for every page, it makes things really difficult. My guess is that there's some kind of module or shortcut that could make this easier. Do any of you know of something, or preferably, is there something you're using that you'd endorse? Thanks for your help. -Adam
