Using comment boxes for building links (the right way)
-
Some people see this kind of link building as spammy mainly because of automated systems I guess making it spammy.
But what if you use your company name linking to your site to indicate who has posted it and then actually contribute some good discussion.
A lot of these are no-follow (although I have got it into my head even though they are no follow not passing juice I still think Google counts the link and it does something).
So I want to start doing some of this, for example squidoo.
Lots of lens with great content that I could quite easily comment on with 50 words+

If you are comparing link building through blog commenting with link request, link bating, infographics and similar stuff then yes it is indeed a low quality idea but I might disagree when you say it’s a waste of time…
On a ground reality, If you write great comments on industry relevant blogs that actually contain value then you do get links that pass quality link juice. To prove my point here is a small example:
http://kikolani-com/ (convert '-' with '.') A blog own by Kristi Hines is a do follow blog where you can add a keyword if you can produce some valuable comments… (Kristi is a great content producer who holds a great value in the industry as a front link blogger for blog and social media marketing)

I think it is a waste of time and resources. Focus on quality content link building and fresh content. You will see better results spending your resources there.

WOW! This is a whole lot of a debate… I mean being honest I have tried this type of link building activities as well…
I think link building through blog commenting is very much hacked by spammers and low quality discussions but if you find some great blogs (there are great do follow websites search and you will find!) where you can add some great posts and discussions then it’s not bad at all.
I mean just consider SEOmoz daily blog and see the amount of people discuss and share their perspective… it’s not bad at all it’s healthy…
About using your keyword/company name in the blog, it’s quite controversial… I mean some bloggers are ok with it (these is a comment luv plug-in that allow you to add your company name with your name) but some bloggers are not happy with it…
So it’s about a choice of a bloggers to accept your point of view as a comment… but I am sure if you comment is worth including you will be included even with the company name on a do follow blog…

Internal Linking
Hi I've been looking over my pages and it says for this page for example http://www.key.co.uk/en/key/1-6kw-halogen-heater I have too many links, I think it was about 178. These links are from the menu and bottom of the page - how much of an issue is this for internal linking structure? I wouldn't want to remove the menus or change them too much. Thank you!

Review site using canonical tag in a puzzling way.
Have just been looking at a review site and they're using the canonical tag very strangely, to me. For example, they may have several pages of reviews of the same item - they use the canonical tag on page 2/3/4 to point back at page 1 - and yet there is no duplication between the pages. Any idea why they might be doing this?

Would looking at my competitors back links help me? What would be the recommended amount of back links created per week? Also how many blogs entries should we aim to create per week? Google displaying a content box above the listing link for top ranking listing in SERPs
Hi, In the attached Google SERP example the first listing below the paid search ads has a large box with a snippet of content from the relevant page then followed by the standard link. Does anyone know how you get Google to display a box like this in their SERPs? I checked the code on the page and there doesn't appear to be anything special about it such as any schema markup. It uses standard list code. Does this only appear for particular types of content or sites, such as medical content in this case? Is the content more likely to appear for lists? Does it only appear for high authority sites that Google has selected? We have a similar medical information based site and it would be great to try to get Google to display a similar box of content for some of our pages. Thanks. Damien ZmPJVSl.png

Permanently using 301 for internal link
Hello Folks, Tried going through the 301 answers but could not find any question similar to what I had. The issue we have is we have got a listing page with the products like this: /used-peugeot/used-toyota-corolla As you can see this URL is not really ideal and I want to redirect it to /used-toyota/corolla using mod_rewrite. The redirect will be 301. My concern here is the URL in the listing page won't change to /used-toyota/corolla and hence the 301 will be 'permanently' placed and I was wondering if this will lose some link juice of the 301ed URL. Now with 301 being a 'permanent' redirect one would assume it should not be an issue but I just wanted to be sure that I am correct in assuming so. Thank you for your time.

Link masking in WordPress
in Wordpress, I want to block Google from crawling my site using the primary navigation. I want to use anchor text links in the body and custom menus in the sidebar to make maximum benefit of the "first link counts" rule. In short, I want to obfuscate all of the links in my primary navigation without using the dreaded nofollow. I do not want to block other links to the pages - body text, custom menus, etc. . This would be site wide. I'd rather not use Ajax or any type of programming unless it's part of a plugin. Can anyone make a simple, Google-friendly suggestion?

How should I handle these links?
I recently purchased a site which is in the same niche as my personal blog. MANY of the keywords which I want both sites to rank for, they are already ranking well for (Eg I rank #1 with one site and #5 for the other). I haven't started linking the two sites to each other yet (waiting to announce the acquisition before I do). I have 2 questions for you all... How powerful do you think linking between these sites could be? How do you think I should handle the linking between these two sites?
