Downloading Meta Data
-
I'm about to do a site audit, and as part of it I need to download all the metadata so that I can see what is ok, and what needs to change.
I've seen tools that allow you to do this a million times, and even used a few. But today for some reason I'm drawing a blank. Can someone help me please? Best case scenario, the tool is free, but I'm not opposed to paying if it's going to save me a lot of time.

As Phil and Blu42Media said, Screaming Frog is such a terrific tool. Love it. Can't beat the ability of that tool. It's terrific.
Looks like you are a Pro member, in which case I also recommend using the Crawl Test tool at http://pro.seomoz.org/tools/crawl-test

Thanks guys. I have that in my toolbox, but for some reason couldn't think of it today...If you ever need help with Spanish work, don't hesitate to ask!

Check out Screaming Frog ... good stuff

You can get that information from Screaming Frog (hooray for a free tool!) or from SEOmoz (if you happen to be a paid member).

Meta description not showing in search results
Hi, One of my client's websites is not showing its Meta descriptions in search results. I've looked at the html and have noticed that they are using ' rather than " around the description tag (see below) <meta name="<a class="attribute-value">description</a>" content='<a class="attribute-value">Student Accommodation in Portsmouth or Southampton - Fully Furnished Studios, Close to the Universities. All Inclusive Rent with WiFi. Going Fast, Book Now!</a>' /> Is this likely to be the problem, or am I missing something very obvious? The website is http://www.unilife.co.uk/ Many thanks, Ben

Do you have some solution/advice for the issue? Tx so Much

I do not want all my META descriptions to be unique.
Hi, I have maybe 20 categories (new) that I really like to have the same Meta description for all of them. The category names call out the use of their respective products. but, all of these categories are related to a much bigger global initiative. I don't have enough space in the title to discuss the individual terms as well as the broader project, so I would like the META to say something like "Products related to <this thing="" my="" customers="" care="" about="">from</this> However, I am extremely paranoid about adding 20-25 meta descriptions that are identical, because Google. Am I overthinking this and being paranoid about Panguin and Penda?

Same Meta Description on all pages harmful?
As the question title suggests, is it harmful (on Google) for a site to use the same meta description sitewide? On every single page. If not, is there any particular benefit to crafting a unique meta description for every page besides CTR on google searches. What do you think? Thanks in advance!

Global Meta Data and Titles
I am working on an e-commerce website with Volusion. I have 1 main keyword that I am really trying to focus on for my home page. Last week I was in position #7 for this keyword, and I have never been off the first page of Google for it. Using Volusion you can Globally set a Title and meta description for any pages that do not already have a title or description. I noticed my Global title had the same keyword as I was using for my home page and thought that, that might be taking away some importance from my keyword, so I changed the Global Title to a different keyword. When I looked at my SEO moz rankings today, which crawled last night it said My keyword was #24 on Google. I checked and as of now I am in position #11. Like I said before, I have never not been on the first page for this keyword. Does anyone think that changing the Global title may have been the cause for this??
