How can I find all my "nofollow" back links?
-
I have reason to believe we're being penalized for having to many links with keyword anchor text, and these links are typically no follow. I wouldn't normally think a nofollow link could do this but I've exhausted all other options. Any idea how I can find these links?
-
Yah we've been starting to focus more on that, also upped our Facebook campaign for "likes". We were historically hovering right around 5 than boom down to 15ish. So you're probably right it was Penguin, thanks for the tips.
-
I'm not sure what would cause that drop if it wasn't penguin..
However, it looks like you're not competing on the first page for a few reasons
-
WIth the exception of 3 domains, all domains have a domain authority of 60+ (yours is 41)
-
All page 1 domains have 1K+ Linking Root domains (you have ~100)
My recommendation:
I would recommend that you focus on gaining high authority links to your driveway alarm page as well as the homepage, coming from separate root domains. You could do a guest posting campaign and focus on domains with a DA of 50+ over the next 3 months and try to get ~50 links and see how it affects your rankings.
Your anchor texts do not necessarily need to be overly optimized, just ensure that your on-page is as good as it can be (there could be some improvements there possibly) and aim for increasing authority, then the rankings will come.
Hope that helps some. Let me know if you have any questions.

I'm not positive, it was about that time. But it was only a 10 place drop, and from other Penguin stories it seems like Penguin would have been a more serious drop if that had been the case.
-
When you say "the key phrase we're being nailed on is "driveway alarm" " do you mean you were recently affected by the Penguin update?
-
Thanks, any suggestions how to go about fixing this?
-
Yeah it looks like there are a couple of issues going on.
-
Looks like you are over optimized for exact anchor text links to that page for "driveway alarm"
-
You also have a high number of total links, but a low number of separate linking root domains (according to OSE)
-
Some of the links have low value/authority
I've attached the OSE report with all of the noFollow links to your site. Looks like there are many to the other pages, but not to that specific page.

On Open Site Explorer
it specifically states NO FOLLOW before the title of the URL
it reads (nofollow) Twitter as an example
-
http://www.absoluteautomation.com/driveway-alarm.html - and in case you can't the key phrase we're being nailed on is "driveway alarm"
-
What's the URL, I'll try to pull a report
-
I thought I had from Open Site Explorer but I didn't see the NoFollow links in there?
-
Have you pulled a full report from Open Site Explorer or Majestic?

"Fake" backlinks indentified on Webmaster tools. How to remove them?
Hi…We noticed a huge number of “fake” links to our site a couple of months ago through Webmaster Tools. After identifying that, we tried to disavow the links, but it hasn’t worked. It looks like a registered domain that has duplicated our entire site. All links are coming from worldstudy.concretecorp.com.br and when you go to it, it redirects to our site. These crazy links keep increasing (over 637,000 now!). What would be our options to get rid of them? Thanks

Is there a downside to "closing" a domain and 301'ing to to your main domain?
We have a domain which was optimized for a specific keyword. It does very well for that keyword, but seems like it has in turn caused our primary domain to be penalized (back to page 3) for that same keyword (We think they've figured out the connection). The optimized domain (only one page) has links on it to our primary domain, so I don't want to delete it as that's where our traffic currently comes from. But if I deleted it and 301'ed it to the primary domain is there a downside? Alternatively I could disavow it, but if the search engines know it's the same owner will they hold that against all domains? Or, alternatively again. Should I turn it into a more substantial website? Which could in turn remove it's "spamminess". Any suggestions are welcomed!

Link Relevance vs Link Authority ?
Hi guys, I have a quick question regarding some low quality links my site is getting. From the information in Open Site Explorer, the website Im talking about has a page authority of 16 while the domain authority is 11\. These are very low quality scores in my oppinion and Im thinking of removing them with Google Disavow Tool. The thing is that, although the domain is low quality, the links have relevance as they're in the same business sector as us. More exactly, the name of the domain is taxisavona and the company I work for is also a taxi company. So, now I`m thinking, should I disavow the link because of it's low scores or should I leave it because it is relevant to our business ? Thank you in advance! Best regards, Tiberiu Iavorenciuc

Why aren't links to my site from YouTube showing up in my link reports?
Our company is paying for a service to create hundreds of videos/month for us with links back to our primary domain. If I go to YouTube I see the videos with the links, but YouTube does not show in my link reports. Why not?

Why does my site only have 4 internal followed links/internal links?
When using Open Site Explorer my site is winning in many categories but lacking in others as compared to competitors. I intend to improve on this but am a little confused by the extremely low number of "internal followed links" and "internal links" at just 4. My competitors have much more than that. Does this mean links to the root domain? Total internal links? I have many internal links so I'm having a hard time figuring this one out. What four internal links are getting noticed? I just went through and changed all the links that went to index.html to link to the root domain at www.njlimocarservice.com as I just found a Q&A that indicates this was better. So as of Wed at 5:45 PM all my links to the homepage went to index.html and not the root which is no longer the case. Not sure if this matters. At the same time I also just put a 301 from index.html to redirect to www.njlimocarservice.com. Any help appreciated! h9QuF.png

How might Google differentiate between an artificial link exchange and partners linking to each other?
Hi, All! Artificial link exchanges (contacting a vaguely connected site and requesting to exchange links to increase your PR) is, as far as I know, considered an outdated, not-so-smart technique, as Google might devalue them. Yet, for real business partners to exchange links seems to be an entirely accepted and encouraged technique. While that would be intuitive to a human who's viewing the pages. how might Google detect when two sites that link to each other are linking because they are trusted business associates (valuable) as opposed to when they are doing a link exchange (devalued)? Thanks! Aviva
