Moving from a dynamic site to nopcommerce
-
Hi,
First question since becoming a member so be gentle with me ;o)
We are moving from a site using a dynamically generated ecommercetemplate to a nopcommerce site.
I have two questions about this
-
I know that 301 redirects are the best way to pass "link juice" but with the site being dynamically generated a lot of these links will simply disappear when we move to nop, meaning that they wont actually be there in order to add a 301. Any advice on this would be appreciated.
-
How can i get a list of the pages on my current site which have the best rank in order to create the redirects. Unfortunately due to some technical issues we had with google analytics we were unable to install it so dont really have any analytics to give us some extra info. I was hoping that there would be somewhere within seomoz where i could be directed.
Many thanks
Chris

Hi Greg,
Thanks for the reply
A site:http://yoururl search produces 51800 results, however google webmaster tools shows 5607 indexed url's
An example category url is
http://www.morpethmobiles.co.uk/categories.asp?cat=781
An example product url is
http://www.morpethmobiles.co.uk/proddetail.asp?prod=%2FNRVSTT%2F21554T-White&cat=790
As you can see they are about as untidy and unsightly as they can be, hence the move to nop
Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris,
How many URLs does Google have indexed for your site?
(a quick 'site:http://yoururl' search should tell you)What's the current URL format for the dynamic URLs?
Can you post an example or two? Thanks,
Greg

How do you get your web site recrawled with Moz without waiting for a week?
My initial crawl was screwed up because of a no follow that needed to be removed. I would like Moz to recrawl the site right away so I can find any other errors.

Open Site Explorer & SEOMoz Bar for Chrome Showing Different Numbers
When I run a report on OSE checking for linking root domains, the number is always different from the number of root domain links that the SEOMoz bar shows in Chrome. For example on OSE a site shows 88 root domain links, but in the SEOMoz bar, it shows 110 root domain links. I've tested this issue with several sites and there is always a discrepancy in the number of root domain links. Does anyone know which one is actually correct and why this might be happening? Thanks.

What's Happened To OSE's External Links For My Site?
Hi, I'm just taking my first steps with Open Site Explorer. I've hit a problem that I'd be really grateful for some help with. I'm running a website (that I didn't create) and want to get a clear picture of the inbound links. When I enter the URL into the OSE search bar, there are no external domains listed under the 'Inbound Links' and 'Linking Domains' tabs. Only internal site links are registered. Setting the filters, "only external" + "pages on this root domain", under the Inbound Links tab, does bring up a list of external sites. But I haven't had to enter filters just to see a list of inbound links with any other sites. Also, the breakdown under the Linking Domains tab remains the same - only links within my site are shown. Does this ring a bell? Any ideas what I might be doing wrong, or what might be wrong with my site to cause this problem? Cheers for helping, Josh

Very confused on site.com/ or not using a /
I'm wanting to put the rel="canonical" tag on my homepage but I'm not sure which to use? How would you know what to use and always links to, http://www.site.com or http://www.site.com**/** Personally I never knew there was a difference until I used the seomoz tool and I wasn't using the tag.

Site not showing data in Open Site Explorer
I have run open site explorer for a couple of sites but I am getting the "no data available for this URL" message. I have read the reasons listed on the error message but none of these apply to the particular sites I am looking for data from. Any thoughts as to why this might be? Thanks, Kwan
