Blog Commenting good or bad?
-
I spend a good amount of time on SEO forums and I found a thread about building links within comments.. I personally don't see how putting my keyword in my name place and linking it to my site will benefit me, I feel like google is already on to this and no one is going to click on it. Is this a waste of time?

Hey Donnie,
Yes, from a pure link building standpoint commenting on blogs is worthless (in most cases).
However, the best way to get links is to have other bloggers notice you. There is no better way to be noticed than by commenting on blogs. The owner needs to approve the comment and more often than not they visit your site to see what you're all about before approving.
So, no those links with your name as the anchor text pass no juice to your site but, the potential of another blogger's link will. If the blogger shows up at your site and sees interesting content, he will link.
NOTE: Be sure that your comments are thoughtful and they add to the conversation.
Another Note: Yes, people do click on your link, if and only if, you are commenting in a thoughtful and interesting way.

Is it better to have micro-sites with good content or redirect domains?
I have a domain with a lot of content and it is an eCommerce site. I've just been told that we have another 12 domains that are inactive and do not redirect. I don't know what to do with them as they haven't been used for ages and do not direct or have any content (max of a DA or 4). Therefore which is better for SEO? To have really good content with perhaps a few regular blog posts on each of the 12 domains, or to redirect all of the domains to the one main domain? I would take 1 domain and put a lot of content on and optimise is.. spending a few weeks on one and then move onto another, all while posting on each blog on each domain. Thank you for any help! 🙂

Other than social media, where are good places to post content from ones website?
I am trying to build links with my content. I always post to social media (Twitter, Facebook, Google + and sometimes Stumble Upon) What are other good choices that may have more staying power?

Is it a good idea to create a blog that offers quality content but also passes PageRank to sponsors
I am a part of a business networking group that has lots of members who services home owners (a/c repair, plumber, home inspector, etc.). I am thinking of starting a blog to help home owners be better informed how to care for their homes. I would like to ask for sponsorship from the people in my group. I would also like to invite them to post on the blog as a way to improve their SEO. Would posting on this kind of blog hurt, help or not affect their SEO? Would this violate Google's policy of selling links that pass page rank as described here: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/66356?hl=en.

My homepage is ranking great but my blog posts have dissappeared
It all happened a few weeks after Penguin 2.0 was released so I'm not sure if it is in any way related. My home page robt.info currently ranks really well for relevant key words like kids author. This has lead me to believe that 2.0 didn't negatively effect my site. I'm not in the business of anything remotely black hat related and purely focus on content. But, if you search for individual blog posts (which are extremely unique), they are nowhere to be seen. For example, one post I did was a story titled 'Fairy Floss For Brains'. Up until the second week of June I ranked extremely well for these really weird and unique blog posts. But now, they don't rank very well at all. Not even in top 100. They are indexed and in my sitemap. Can anyone please help me resolve this issue? Is there something I have done wrong that anyone can see? EDIT: I was able to utilise feedback from my question to resolve my issue. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP GUYS!

Reposting my articles on other blogs - good or bad?
Hi there! Our blog is full of really good articles on consumer finance topics. Recently we established contact with some local media and even government agencies who said they will be happy to repost our articles on their sites. Question: is it ok to repost our articles as they are and link back to us, or shall we rewrite them to make them 100% original? The media doesn't insist on original content, but I'd like to get SEO benefit from it (the sites are really good). If original content gives us more SEO value, we're happy to do it Please advise. P.S. Using rel=canonicals is not an option (it's government websites and some old school media - they are very not tech savvy).

What makes a good back link profile ?
Hi Now forgive me as I know this question has been asked on this and other sites thousands of times over, but since the recent algorithm changes to Google what would you consider to be A good backlink profile for a regional window, doors and conservatories firm For example looking at a leading SEO firm in the UK and in detail at one of their clients – the backlink profile for a team of 40, is nothing better than an experienced freelancer could achieve. For example they are mainly directory listings, css design galleries or comments on blogs not relevant to the target site What should this contain, but please bear in mind there is no budget to develop games, widgets to gain viral back links Most peoples responses are just great quality content, which although the correct answer they do not go into any detail on what form this should take, where it should reside, how people will find it etc I was thinking of the following Web Directories - if yes - which ones should I target and which ones to avoid (UK) Competitions - Is this a good means of gaining backlinks from the likes of loquax, prizefinder etc - or is it just a short term boost Forums - Answer questions on the likes of DIYNOT with the web address in my signature response Suppliers - Get a link from suppliers and the likes of Fensa Local Search - Yelp, Qype etc Social Media posts - Facebook, Google+ and Twitter any thing else I have missed?

Pay Per Post Blog Reviews - Does It Work?
I have come to realize that several SEO companies are basing their entire link strategy on paying bloggers to write a review about their client's website that also includes a link back to their website. I am thinking about adding this as part of my link building campaign. I am thinking about acquiring approximately 15 links a month from PR 2-5 blogs that pertain to my industry and target audience. I am thinking of using the network payperpost.com to find good blogs. First question: Does this type of link building work well? Second question: Is 15 links a month from PR 2-5 blogs (writing on my subject matter) enough to help out?
