A Begginer. Learning Lots. Need Advice.

About a month ago I took over a SEO for a small RV company here in Florida. My responsibilities include:
SEO, Adwords, Video Production, Inventory Update, Newsletters, Social Media, Etc.
I feel a little overwhelmed, but we are a small company and we probably won't be hiring more people.
I'm weak in some areas and strong in others. In the SEO area I'm weak. My question is, in the SEO area, where should I be focusing most?
I break my SEO responsibilities into a couple areas:
- Keyword Research (A lot of competition)
- Back-linking
- Social Media
I know there are more. But where should be my main focus, and how should I go about doing it?
Website is http://www.floridaoutdoorsrv.com
I would kind of like some one to give me an idea of where I am, and what should I do next.
SEOMoz has given me a lot of errors and it's little overwhelming.
Thanks in advance for the advice!
-
I hear you!
Well they are at the "fore front" of the RV industry. And actually I really like some of what they bring to the table, some of the more obvious things like title tags and meta descriptions I have little control over which is frustrating!
We are supposed to get an update to the site here in a week or two, I'm hoping some of this will be taken care of. But we can't switch right now, because honestly they are probably one of the best in the industry as sad as that sounds and we drop in rankings and it's a big pain everytime we switch companies.
I'm going to look into getting their name taken off of our site. It might be part of the contract, I'm not sure.
I have also been trying to make unique content for each page, but I usually do a little at a time. Any advice I welcome from as I'm a beginner at SEO.
So my take aways from you are:
Unique Title Tags
-
One thing that's immediately obvious is that you're having massive problems with your title tags. Every page needs to have a unique title tag, and your title tags should be 55-65 characters long. Rewriting thousands of title tags is going to be a challenge, so prioritize your most important landing pages and do those first.
Duplicate content is a challenge for any e-commerce website. If you have thousands of products on your site, and many of the products are very similar, it would require an amazing amount of time to craft completely unique product descriptions for all of them. Again, focus on your key landing pages.
Also, I don't know how you got hooked up with your web design company, but they have a link to their site in your footer, which is seriously sketchy. Not to mention that their website is a trainwreck. That might explain the CSS problems George mentioned. I would seriously think about working with a different web developer and designer. If your site is poorly constructed, that can cause SEO problems -- to say nothing of user experience and conversion rates.

Okay, I've added a screen shot of my most common problem.
I just got my guys to do a 301 Redirect from
floridaoutdoorsrv.com/index.php to floridaoutdoorsrv.com
Hope that helps!
-
Okay, so I am looking into a redirect for the /index.php page.
I have to work through the CMS company we use, unfortunately!
The article was helpful!
-
It would help if you said what errors you're getting. Duplicate content? Title tag issues?
-
I suggest taking things one step at a time. Your reports from SEOmoz may include tons of errors, but you can often fix tens or hundreds of these errors with one fix. I see some technical updates you can make to your pages that will help clean up the source code and perhaps make your pages load faster which will help.
A couple quick technical tips:
Clean up the inline CSS used on your pages. Use your external CSS files to hold this information.
Don't use relative URLs if you don't need to. You can fix a number of linking issues by just using absolute URLs.
Here's a helpful post from Paddy Moogan:

More to come later. Hope this helps!

Monthly Refreshes Aren't Actually Needed, Right?
We get tons of emails from Network Solutions with the following text: To ensure that your website is easily found online it is important that you submit your website to the major search engines and internet directories, including: | Google™ Google Places™ Google Mobile™ Bing™ Yahoo!® Twitter® | Facebook® CitySearch® Foursquare™ Angie's List® GPS navigation MerchantCircle® | To do so, we recommend you go to each search engine and internet directories web page, locate the instructions and then complete a monthly refresh of your listing. If you would like us to complete this process for you please call us at... Everything I've ever read about modern SEO says this isn't necessary and it's just a solicitation to get people to pay them for something they don't even need. We update our social pages regularly and maintain listings on many citation sites using Moz Local (in addition to manually building citations). Can you guys confirm that this is just more spam from Network Solutions?

Doing SEO for a Classifieds Website and need help
Hey All! I'm going to be doing SEO for a classifieds website (cars only). But I'm struggling to dream up an effective strategy. They have a reasonably popular blog that I could definitely use to publish content for link bait, and some opportunities for guest blogging. But in terms of straight up link building (think craigslist), I'm really at a loss as to where to start. If anyone has any experience working with Classifieds websites or can recommend any strategies that you think will work I'm all ears! Really appreciate any help that anyone has to offer! Cheers 🙂

Need help with huge spike in duplicate content and page title errors.
Hi Mozzers, I come asking for help. I've had a client who's reported a staggering increase in errors of over 18,000! The errors include duplicate content and page titles. I think I've found the culprit and it's the News & Events calender on the following page: http://www.newmanshs.wa.edu.au/news-events/events/07-2013 Essentially each day of the week is an individual link, and events stretching over a few days get reported as duplicate content. Do you have any ideas how to fix this issue? Any help is much appreciated. Cheers

Can we really learn from the best?
Hi All, When I started my site (an eCommerce site) I copied (or tried) a lot of things from the best eCommerce sites I thought were out there. Sites like Zappos, ZALES, Overstock, BlueNile etc. I got hit pretty hard with latest algo changes and I posted my question at Google Webmaster Help forum I received answers from Gurus that we are keyword stuffing etc. (mainly with internal links to product pages but other issues as well). My answer was a link to Zappos and other sites showing that what we do is nothing compared to them. I also showed dozens of SEO "errors" like using H1 tag 10 times per page, not using canonicals and many other issues. The Guru's answer was "LOL" - who am I to compare myself to Zappos. So the question is... Can we take them for example or are they first simply because they are the biggest?

Do my redirects on my homepage need to be 301?
Our domain name is something like www.I-am-cool.com but most people just type in iamcool.com After doing some research I found that those are 302 redirects and I think they should be 301. If I am correct do I need to redirect www.iamcool.com and iamcool.com or just one or the other?

Need help/insights. Site SEO = OK, Authority BLs = OK, Rank page #1\. How to reach pos #1?
Hi there! Some doubts are confusing my head and need some assistence from you to get on the right track. I'll explain my situation and want to hear from you what do you really recommend for med/long term permanent results. 1 - I have a PR2 (.com.br) domain; 2 - I'm talking about little/med competition micro-niche keywords; 3 - I got all pages I want to, indexed (I have a well SEO constructed website with internal link building); 4 - If a keyword has average competition, I'll already start ranking in page #3 on the SERP's; For a few low competition keywords I start on page #1; 5 - I do a little whitehat link building, 1 or 2 backlinks on authority sites and then like 15 days later I came to page #1, generally on position 9/10; And then I got stucked 🙂 No more authority sites where I can get backlinks... I do some posts on the company twitter/facebook page's, but they are no follow, so I don't really now if this can help. (never see a SERP result). I did some "blackhat" stuff to see if it really work: I can say for sure the "profile backlinks" that we can buy from some sites doesn't work (maybe it's just for me). I can't see it on webmaster tool and neither my ranks changed since I bought a pack of 100 links (the links are working, I see it one by one) to test. Maybe the problem is about the domains, cause my site is .com.br and I'm buying .com profile links. I guess google understand backlinks from .com.br more valuable for my sites. Back to whitehat: I wrote some articles and posted it the right way, of course on .com.br articles sites, got it indexed and can see the backlink on webmaster tool, but no change on SERP's. (maybe this can be a long term result and I'm not seeing it yet). I'm really "scratching my hand" to do some blackhat stuff, but I don't want to lose what I already have done... I heard a lot about scrapebox but doesn't fell confortable to spam as hell a lot of blogs. I really want long term permanent results (my sites are totally whitehat/corporate sites). Can you expert guys give me some point to where I need to "walk" now to improve the SERP's? I never reached top #1 and want to try to rank at least one time to understand how this can be made... I'm thinking now to pay someone to rewrite 20 copies of an article and up it on some sites, to see if 20 can improve something. But still no confident, because it will cost like $100 for a good writer do it for me on my language. Maybe I can do better things with 100 bucks. I guess I did the path right: Internal SEO -> got indexed -> backlinking from authorities -> new articles backlinks to me (is it ok at this position or no?) -> (what next ?) I know SEO is a hard/never ending work, but what I'm trying to get cleaned on my head is the path of the work (if a right path really exists). Every word will be apreciated. What do you can suggest to me to try now? (please give me a hint to see SERP's results 🙂 if I feel that something worked, no matter how it can cost to me, but I'll pay for the work happily) Sorry if I'm a little confusing, english isnt' my first language. Thanks.
