SEO timeline / action plans
-
Hi, My first question here so thanks in advance for any responses. I have built websites / done basic seo for a while but I am now making a real concerted effort to implement everything I learn from seomoz. I am wondering if there is any advice or general timeline of items to implement with existing websites or brand new websites. For example xxx action in week 1, xxx action in week 2 etc A sort of crib sheet or tick lists which I think would help reduce any errors and help schedule items for future planning, especially in larger groups of people . If there is anything or anywhere that might be of help then would be great or if anyone has a rough plan they stick too

Try Asana, damn cool and does the job equally well if not better than basecamp. And its FREE

Thank you

Basecamp is great and not only can you assign tasks to internal staff but also assign to the client for sign-off on each task. Helps keep everyone on track.

If you are going to be working with only a few people, you may want to use Google Calendar to schedule your tasks. I personally use it and I share calendars with other Google users. Also, Google + seems like a good way to communicate for me too.
If your projects involve several people, then you may want to look into a paid service like BaseCamp.com. They have a 45 day free trial. I have used BaseCamp and it's great.

Hi Brett,
I don't know of any specific plans as each SEO tends to work differently, but this might be of help where looking for a list of do's & dont's.

SEOmoz also have a check-list you might want to look over as well:

Looking for an SEO Mentor
I do in-house marketing for a medium sized luxury architectural design firm. I have a good understanding of the moz platform and general SEO but would like to findsomeone to provide regular guidance and answer some specific questions regarding our SEO. Specifically, we want advising on keywords, blog content, and link building. Ideally we'd like to engage a consultant (remotely) on an hourly basis. We'v have had very poor experiences with big SEO firms so that’s definitely not something we’re looking for. Best,

New Subdomain SEO questions
I have a main site - mysite.com. I just created a subdomain - leadform.mysite.com I plan to use the leadform.mysite.com as a 1 page lead form only. I will link to leadform.mysite.com from mysite.com and also from other websites I own (myothersite.com etc.) - filtering all traffic to this form to capture leads. (Note - the leadform.mysite.com has CNAME to other server that hosts the backend of the form) My questions are: How should I link from mysite.com to leadform.mysite.com? With dofollow or nofollow? (mysite.com has 1000's of pages and would link from every page with "get a quote' type button) 2) How should I link from myothersite.com to leadform.mysite.com? With dofollow or nofollow? Any SEO risk linking to leadform.mysite.com from an outside domain? (myothersite.com has 1000's of pages and would link from every page with "get a quote' type button) Does it make sense to build links from outside sites to leadform.mysite.com directly to try to get that lead capture page to rank on it's own? 4) Does it make sense to link back from leadform.mysite.com back to mysite.com for seo value? With dofollow or nofollow? Thanks in advance for any help.

URL structure for SEO
Hi Mozzers, I have a site which is a combination of product pages, and news and advice pages that relate to the products. How would you approach the URL structure for this, following SEO best practice? Approach 1 Product pages:
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | A_Q
www.website.com/product-category/product-page News and advice pages:
www.website.com/product-category/product-page/news-and-advice-story-1
www.website.com/product-category/product-page/news-and-advice-story-2
etc or Approach 2 Product pages:
www.website.com/product-category/product-page News and advice pages:
www.website.com/news/product-category/news-and advice-story-1 (with internal linking to relevant product page)
www.website.com/news/product-category/news-and advice-story-2 (with internal linking to relevant product page)
etc Or would a different approach be better?0 -
Should I increase SEO activity while we are restructuring our B2C service offerings and planning a product relaunch in about 6-8 months?
My company has 2 distinct divisions: a B2B division and a B2C division. Right now we are restructuring our B2C service offerings and pulling back on marketing spend for B2C so that we can relaunch new B2C offerings in about 6-8 months. Our current company website will stay in place but will be revamped right before our B2C relaunch (will maintain the same domain). Currently, our company has little to no SEO presence for both B2C and B2B. I need to know if it is smart for us to increase SEO activity right now for the B2C division, knowing that it can take up to 6 months to get SEO traction so that when we do relaunch we have a strong established SEO presence. Thanks for your sharing your thoughts!

Outbrain Select SEO Implications
A member of our marketing team wants to use Outbrain Select to curate content to augment the original content we have on our site. http://www.outbrain.com/select/how This content would be taken from other pages on the site and shown through as though it is on our site through javascipt. Obviously this page would be setup as a no-index. This seems to me like something Google would frown on. Does anyone know the SEO implications behind using a tool like this? I'm concerned google will see links to a blank page no-index page and find it suspect.

Where Does Blogging Fit Into SEO
I read an article yesterday that said blogging comes under the heading of social media, which is at the top of the so called SEO pyramid. I have taken this to mean less time should be spent in social media compared to other areas of SEO. Yet content creation was at the bottom of the pyramid (more time allocation here). Isn't blogging part of content creation? I would have thought there is a limit to what can be done for service/product & landing pages. Whereas blogs are a great way to produce more unique content for a website. Any clarification would be appreciated. Thanks - Christina

Wordpress Blogs and SEO
So far we have been creating separate blogs on wordpress.com for our sites, and writing there. Today I was told that there was better SEO hosting the blog on the actual domain. i.e. www.widgets.com/blog instead of widget.wordpress.com Is this true? Oddly I have had my WP beat my own URL on one account. So I am not sure if this is valid. Can someone tell me pros and cons of both? Thanks!

Need Guidance On SEO Campaign
Hello, my website is www.mybluedish.com and I am launching an SEO campaign to increase our rankings, especially for the keyword 'satellite internet'. We used to be ranked #5 for this keyword and Google made some changes about 9 months ago that dropped us way back. We have recovered a lot back to #18 now, but have been stuck here for a while. I want to step up our SEO campaign and have come up with the following campaign. Could any SEO's please tell me if you think the following is the make up of a solid SEO campaign or if it should be adjusted? Thank you. 12 new blog articles/month 24 Articles submitted to 10 different directories each (total of 200 article directory submissions)/month 1 basic Press Release from PR.com/month 200 do follow blog comments/month 10 paid blog posts (on other people’s blogs of PR 1-5)/month
