Is business related directory paid links OK for SEO?
-
I heard paid links are not good.
My business is wedding related e-commerce. There are some wedding directory site out there and I need to paid them in order to put my links there. Are these directory links also count as paid links? Is it bad for SEO? I saw some popular wedding sites put their sites there too.
BTW, is Yahoo , botw or business.com directory treated as paid link?
Thanks,
Hon

First of all by getting your website listed in some Paid directories, you are just making your website more vulnerable to Penguin as the process violates Google’s guidelines. However, what I believe is that if you are getting your website in some chosen directories like Yahoo Directories etc, you may not be in trouble as Google is well aware of their existence.
So, rather than wasting your SEO dollars on things so uncertain, I would suggest you to do something more fruitful like investing in content marketing, designing create inforgraphic and then using it as a link bait.
However, if you wish to do it as a promotional purpose, you can go ahead; just make sure that you are adding no follow attribute against them.
_Hope that helps. _

The best answer for this question in my opinion is to ask yourself, "Would I pay to be listed in this directory if search engines did not exist?" It is not always bad to be listed in a directory if it will drive traffic. This does not mean it will help nor hurt you in Google though either.
Yahoo, BOTW, etc are considered "white hat" paid links.

I would say its very tricky situation because in one way it is paid link, but some of the directories are really of high quality, you can check moztrust, Page Authority and Domain Authority through mozbar tool.
If authority is good and as you said its in your similar field so should be ok I guess.

Link from a directory
Hi, im submitting a clients website to some directories. They are a dental practice and I'm adding them to this website http://goo.gl/Tvyabd Once i added the business to its directory it asked me to add a link (in so many words) back to its website from my clients website. Is this ok to do or is it seen as spam? Im confused about this as sometimes directories are free and sometimes they ask for a fee for it to be fast tracked to put it on the website. I always check the Domain authority of the websites and make sure they are relevant to the industry that I'm working in but again not sure if this would be seen as "paying" for links. Thanks Ade

Paid Directory Links
To my surprise, I couldn't find a clear answer to the questions "Do paid directory links violate Google guidelines?" I know Matt Cutt's recently had a video on paid links, but it didn't really cover paid directory links. Are well-curated directory sites that charge for inclusion violate Google's guidelines? A good example would be the business.com directory.

Removing Links From Spammy Directories
Hi all, I just wanted to check with you all about removing links from spammy directories. We have 100s of links from directories like this http://www.groundanchors.co.uk/ all the same layout and registered to the same person. I just wanted to know if our rankings will be affected in any way by removing these links - bearing in mind there are 100s of them. Many thanks.

What do you consider a low authority link directory
Dear All, I would like to weed out the low authority link directories that harm my site. Can someone explain me how you determine a low authority link directory? Do you look at "page auth." and "domain auth"? And do you consider all the links pointing to your site with a "page auth." and "domain auth" lower then - let's say 40 - as a low authority link directory? Thank you for your answers in advance! Regards, Thomas

What are your views on link submitters / directory submitters?
I have no real opinion on them to be honest, I don't really have any experience with them personally: eg: http://www.fastdirectorysubmitter.com/downloads.html http://www.thelinksubmitter.com/ http://www.dumpblaster.com/ I presume they will be negative or a waste of time?

Question on Links from Directories…
Hello,
Link Building | | inhouseninja
When I do an OSE back link analyses of some sites that are listed in some directories we are considering, for almost all the directories and companies in them, the directories are listed in the OSE report, listed as followed, and usually have decent domain rank and page rank. So this means that the link from the directory is obviously being picked up by OSE and it’s listed as a followable link. My question is just because the link is picked up by OSE does that mean that the search engines value it too? Or could Google see the link ok but throw it out of the equation, presumably because it does not “like” the directory? Hope this makes sense
