Link profile improvment

I need some guidance on how to improve my link profile, on the whole it's a strong profile compared to my competitors. Yet they rank higher then I do, with seems odd to me.
My competitor scores are: www.frontrangecounselingcenter.com/marriagecounseling.html
Domain Metrics:

Though I am fully aware of the fact that the design of a website has got little to do with the ranking, I believe that you need to change the look and feel of your website. Probably, the interface is causing people bouncing back. So, please let us know the bounce rate of your website.
- 1. __ - this is not the correct way to represent Title tag – it should be this –
<title>Counseling Denver, Broomfield, Westminster, Thornton Colorado – Home</title> - 2. I would rather suggest you to get rid of keywords tag
- 3. _Fivestarcounselingservices.com has got the following number of pages indexed - 24, Frontrangecounselingcenter.com has the following number of pages indexed – 157. _
- 1. __ - this is not the correct way to represent Title tag – it should be this –

Few notes,
- They have the term "marriage counseling" in their URL which improves their rankings
- They have more content on their website (each of their services has a lengthy, unique page of content)
- Your content is very similar to each other (8/10/12/14 week marriage counseling content has a lot of overlap)
I would try to create more unique content pages for your site and see if they improves your rankings. Aside from that, keep building strong backlinks. Check out their profile and see which links you want and can get - then do it!
Cheers,

Oh how I wish Google used SEOmoz data in their algorithm!
Unfortunately this isn't the case, so there are many other metrics we need to be looking at. The first redflag on your site that I saw is that your a local marriage counselor and that you have THAT many links. Over 6k links to a locally-focused site isn't completely unbelievable, but it seems excessive. Upon looking into it, it would appear that the domain has a ton of directory submissions and if I looked futher, I'd guess I'd find some low-quality article submissions (I apologize if that is not the case).
If you're not ranking well anymore, it's a fair bet that you have too many low quality links. I would look into doing some higher quality link building like infographics, industry-specific and local directories (different than what you have) and guest blogging.
While your current website might not be a problem, that doesn't mean it's the best that it could be. I would look into a redesign or getting it up on something simple like WordPress. I would imagine your bounce rate is pretty high (just an assumption). There are several on page conversion aspects that you're missing such as a readily available phone number, no forms or calls to action, trust factors and just overall appearance.
Does that help? I can elaborate on parts if you'd like.
Good luck, Robert!

Relaunching a site that has had thousands of posts linking to the same 20 articles. How to properly setup internal linking?
I'm in the process of relaunching a music news site (www.prefixmag.com) that once did quite well in search (over a million monthly search visits in its prime). The site got crushed by Panda, etc. and we stopped updating it. I'm starting to do more research but one thing that I noticed was we have modules in the right rail (desktop) that are found on all of our article pages that point to the same posts. (Edit: Added attachment. The links in the right rail under Editor Picks, Features, News, Media, etc. are found on every page of the site). In other words, we have thousands of posts that all link to the same 20 or so articles. Should we not do this if we're not trying to emphasize these posts in Google? Assuming this is the case, what is the proper way to do internal linking? Do we simply setup a sitemap and link to it? I'm hoping to have the thousands of articles we've published over the years have a chance to rank in search again. Also, we have a number of posts that are thin in content should those pages not be submitted in the sitemap? Thanks in advance! 2KmX0

Link from a directory
Hi, im submitting a clients website to some directories. They are a dental practice and I'm adding them to this website http://goo.gl/Tvyabd Once i added the business to its directory it asked me to add a link (in so many words) back to its website from my clients website. Is this ok to do or is it seen as spam? Im confused about this as sometimes directories are free and sometimes they ask for a fee for it to be fast tracked to put it on the website. I always check the Domain authority of the websites and make sure they are relevant to the industry that I'm working in but again not sure if this would be seen as "paying" for links. Thanks Ade

Will removing a 301 re-direct from an old spammed URL drop the links from our profile?
Essentially there is an old page that has been the target of an old school link building agency. There is a 301 re-direct from the old page to the newer version. if I drop the 301 re-direct and update our sitemaps. Will those links be removed from our profile? The old URL passes nothing in actual value & a link building campaign has been running on the new page for over a year.

Does the ratio of external nofollow links to external "do follow" links matter in terms of SERPs ranking?
My site has an external link nofollow:dofollow ratio of approximately 1:1 That is, there are about as many nofollow external links as "do follow" external links. I have an impression that the ratio of no-follow to "do follow" links is a factor in the way that our website shows up in SERPs. I have the impression from reading a variety of sources, and from looking at Seomoz, that calculate "trust" factors as if they mattered (in SERPs), that seem to value a relatively low nofollow:dofollow ratio. Am I correct about that? Thanks,

Are Directory Links a Good Source of Branded Links?
I am trying to increase the number of branded links for a few of my sites since the links are too heavily weighted on anchor text. If so, would you recommend a service like Directory Maximizer?

Reciprocal Links Or One Way Links?
After reading a recent blog post on guest blogging and ways to build relationships for link building purposes, I began to wonder about something. It is my understanding that one way backlinks are superior to reciprocal linkage, but reciprocal is better than no link at all. So is it still worthwhile to do reciprocal guest blogging, and will the value of the links be worth it when completed? Or should we just be of the opinion that: One Way Link > Reciprocal > No link

Different Link Titles Linking to the same page
So I'm doing a lot of link building but my question is how do search engines treat different link titles to the same page. For example, my main page is www.musillawfirm.com If I have 20 links from 20 sites linking to it as Melbourne FL DUI Lawyer and 20 more linking as Melbourne FL immigration Lawyer and More linking as Cocoa FL DUI lawyer etc... what happens? Do the search engines just rank me higher for all the terms or would it be better to always just link to separate landing pages? Thanks in advance
