Ranking history

I am having trouble on getting a ranking history for some of my keywords. Is this feature still working?
thanks
-
Hi Timothy - the rank tracker tool has been working the past few months, but is, sadly, once again down for maintenance (as per http://www.seomoz.org/dp/rank-tracker-update).
That said, the PRO web app - http://pro.seomoz.org - is still working and can show keyword rankings history. If you're looking for a purely free, on-demand rank tracking tool, we recommend SEOBook's: http://www.seomoz.org/dp/rank-tracker-update
Cheers!

The last thread here was June, and its still down. Do you have an ETA?
-
Hey Mauro,
I got an ETA of 2-3 weeks from my engineers about 1.5 weeks ago. So it shouldn't be too much longer and we'll have everything squared away.
Cheers,
Joel.

Hi Kenny, do you have any updates regarding the history issue with Rank Tracker?
I need to monitor many different websites for just a few keywords and Rank Tracker has been the tool I've been using for quite a while...
Thanks!
Mauro

Thanks!

Ahh... The standalone Rank Tracker is a different tool than I have been referencing. It does appear to be having issues displaying the chart. I'll put in a support request for our engineers to look into this.
I do recommend that if you have keywords that you need to track historical data for that you use the rankings tool inside of a campaign. This is the preferred way to track keywords over time. I suggest, when possible, to strictly use the rank tracker tool for one off rankings collection.

Kenny,
The rankings history chart is broken. It can not be viewed.
If I go to http://ranktracker.seomoz.org/ and click on a keyword and then click "ranking history" a pop-up window appears. However it is empty.
I have done this in firefox, IE and Chrome.
This charts are fantastic if they work, however, they have not worked for me for the past few months.

We will store data from your weekly rankings updates and allow you to view this history for your keywords. You can only see historical data back to the point in which that keyword was added to your campaign.
Unfortunately, we can not pull data from before that keyword existed in your campaign.
Hope that helps!

I am asking how can I have a ranking history.
-
Thanks for helping @shiftins
Rankings only update on a weekly basis. The date your rankings are updated is shown on the either the campaign overview page on the rankings module, or on the rankings page at the top of your keyword's table.

Changed from www to non-www lost all rank. Will it return?
My web site used https://www.domain.com for the past 18 months. We finally got to #3 position for our top keyword. We changed web servers and our wordpress admin section somehow got changed to https://domain.com. As you can imaging I'm not too happy. We do have 301 redirects installed. Yesterday I noticed that our site was not ranking anymore. In fact, all our pages and our site URLs at https://www.domain.com have been de-indexed. I assume because that no longer exists. Using site: all the web pages under https://domain.com (which were identical to the old www) are now listed. All of them. However, none are showing in searches unless we search for the business name. They are not appearing under keyword searches. I would assume that the 301s (which are installed property) would make the site keep it's rank, as the pages are all identical. Will we ever get our rank back? Should we switch back to www? Or do the 301s just take time to hit? How long if that's the case?

Counting Places LIstings in Manual Rank Checking?
Hello, When doing manual keyword lookups, are people counting Google Places listings in their rankings? E.g. If the website's places listing is the "5th" item on the results page, do you count that keyword as "5"? -- even if the organic listing comes up first at, say, position $20? On one hand I'd be in favor of including them in order because "who cares" if the user sees your website first, or the Places listing that points to your website first? But then again, it's my understanding that places listings are highly variable, so that they should be skipped entirely in calculating rank positions. So what are others out there doing? And by places of course I mean Google + Local/Plus or whatever they are calling it this week. Thanks!

Branded vs Generic keywords - is Google treating their rank equaly!?
Several times I have noticed that website receiving sort of a rankings drop penalty for certain wrongly built on-page strategies that involves keyword stuffing, wrong keyword density(too much) etc. The question is - how you guys think - is branded keywords receiving the same treatment from Google then generic ones? And here is why - for one popular brand I see that they ranking for their brand keyword very high(1th) but keyword density is awful - more then 10%. So, my guess is - if this keyword density you would apply for generic keyword you will end up nowhere to be found for it! Is that could be truth? Any experiments info about that? thanks and regards, Jungles

What's the best way to find ranking keywords and phrases?
What's the best way to find ranking keywords and phrases? I have tried Google Keyword Tool but it just doesn't do the job for me (or I'm using it wrong). My main focus is people who are looking for energy saving tricks, but I'm not sure if this is the right keyword / keyphrase. The goal of this question is not to get other people to do the research for me, but rather to find the right tools and usage of those tools for the job.

Are keywords rankings a zero sum game for our site?
We’ve made pages with resources for our customers. These pages have been well received and gotten us some good traffic. But these pages only target our main keywords tangentially. If we continue to build up pages like this -- that give us traffic from our customers, but don’t directly target our main keywords -- will our target keywords -- and the pages that focus on those keywords -- suffer? Is it a zero sum game for our web site? Does increasing rankings and pages for certain keywords mean that other keywords / pages decrease as a result?

Should I be optimizing for Keywords that we already rank for?
When selecting which Keywords to optimize for, should I choose all words that I want us to move up for? Like that my company appears ranked for 5, 10, 42, 44, etc.? Or should I select a mix of some that rank well (top 1-2 pgs in Google) /rank near pg 5/ and some that aren't showing up in the top 50 yet? I don't want to waste my time optimizing for words I don't need to. Thanks!
