Installing WordPress on a site OR just adding a blog page on the site - Which one is better and why ?

Thanks Guys. That's helpful !

WordPress is way more than blogging software and is a fully fledged content management site that you can use to manage your entire site.
I can think of lots of reasons to use WordPress for the site + blog component in one package and hardly any to use one CMS for the main site and then another for the blog (doubling up your work).
- Use one system (WordPress)
- Make sure it is optimised (Yoast WordPress SEO Plugin a good start)
- Have a blog category in a subdirectory /blog
Ultimately, unless there are very specific requirements then I tackle this from a 'are there any reasons NOT to use WordPress' for this site perspective.
So, less work, great results, ease of publishing, a wealth of extensions and plugins and a generally out-the-box SEO friendly platform make for a fairly convincing argument.
Hope that helps

Hi Vikas_Rana
This will depend on who is going to be managing the site. Installing Wordpress throughout your domain is ideal because everything is there already. All the tools and plugins are available in a heart beat.
Some admins prefer to use pure HTML websites because they can customize it according to how they want it, but it does require a little more effort and development ability.

Hi Vikas,
To host a blog on your website there are numerous approaches. You can have Wordpress installed on a domain in its root folder or you can install Wordpress in a sub-directory (domain.com/WP/, you can re-name WP to blog so that it becomes domain.com/blog/ ) or you can install Wordpress on a sub-domain (blog.domain.com) etc. Personally I have had great success with installing Wordpress on a sub-directory. This way, I am not separating my blog content from its root and moreover adding strength to the root domain in terms of all SEO goodies. Hope this helps.
Best regards,
Devanur Rafi.

Why add .html to WordPress pages?
A site I may take over has a plugin that adds .html to the pages. I searched online but I’ve only found how to add it rather than why to add it. Is it needed? If I remove it, I’ll have to be careful with SEO / indexed pages and redirects. The site is running 3.x.x and 90% of the plugins have not been updated in over 5 years including this one. Before I update to 4.7.x, I am trying to understand the landscape (pros / cons) on why something could be used and if I need to find a suitable replacement for it.

Help Setting Up 301 Redirects from Coldfusion Site to Wordpress Site.
I have created a new website and need to redirect all of the previous pages to the new one. The old website was built in coldfusion and the new site is built in wordpress. One of the pages I'm trying to redirect is www.norriseal.com/products.cfm to http://norrisealwellmark.com/products/. This is what I have in my .htaccess file <ifmodule mod_rewrite.c="">Options +FollowSymlinks

Site splitting value of our pages with multiple variations. How can I fix this with the least impact?
Just started at a company recently, and there is a preexisting problem that I could use some help with. Somebody please tell me there is a low impact fix for this: My company's website is structured so all of the main links used on the nav are listed as .asp pages. All the canonical stuff. However, for "SEO Purposes," we have a number of similar (not exact) pages in .html on the same topic on our site. So, for example, let's say we're a bakery. The main URL, as linked in the nav, for our Chocolate Cakes, would be http://www.oursite.com/chocolate-cakes.asp. This differentiates the page from our other cake varieties, such as http://www.oursite.com/pound-cakes.asp and http://www.oursite.com/carrot-cakes.asp. Alas, fully indexed in Google with links existing only in our sitemap, we also have: http://www.oursite.com/chocolate-cakes.html http://www.oursite.com/chocolatecakes.html http://www.oursite.com/cakes-chocolate.html This seems CRAZY to me, because wouldn't this split our search results 4 ways? Am I right in assuming this is destroying the rankings of our canonical pages? I want to change this, but problem is, none of the content is the same on any of the variants, and some of these pages rank really well - albeit mostly for long tail keywords instead of the good, solid keywords we're after. So, what I'm asking you guys is: How do I burn these .html pages to the ground without completely destroying our rankings for the other keywords? I want to 301 those pages to our canonical nav URLs but, because of the wildly different content, I'm afraid that we could see a heavy drop in search traffic. Am I just being overly cautious? Thanks in advance!

Wordpress: Tags generate duplicate Content - just delete the tags!?
Asking people, they say tags are bad and spamy and as I can see they generate all my duplicate page content issues. So the big question is, why Google very often prefers to show in SERPS these Tag-URLS... so it can't be too bad! :)))? Then after some research I found the "Term Optimizer" on Yoast.com ... that should help exactly with this problem but it seems not to be available anymore? So may be there another plugin that can help... or just delete all tags from my blog? and install permanent redirects?

Why do I get duplicate content errors just for tags I place on blog entries?
I the SEO MOZ crawl diagnostics for my site, www.heartspm.com, I am getting over 100 duplicate content errors on links built from tags on blog entries. I do have the original base blog entry in my site map not referencing the tags. Similarly, I am getting almost 200 duplicate meta description errors in Google Webmaster Tools associated with links automatically generated from tags on my blog. I have more understanding that I could get these errors from my forum, since the forum entries are not in the sitemap, but the blog entries are there in the site map. I thought the tags were only there to help people search by category. I don't understand why every tag becomes its' own link. I can see how this falsely creates the impression of a lot of duplicate data. As seen in GWT: Pages with duplicate meta descriptions Pages [Customer concerns about the use of home water by pest control companies.](javascript:dropInfo('zip_0div', 'none', document.getElementById('zip_0zipimg'), 'none', null);)/category/job-site-requirements/tag/cost-of-water/tag/irrigation-usage/tag/save-water/tag/standard-industry-practice/tag/water-use 6 [Pest control operator draws analogy between Children's Day and the state of the pest control industr](javascript:dropInfo('zip_1div', 'none', document.getElementById('zip_1zipimg'), 'none', null);)/tag/children-in-modern-world/tag/children/tag/childrens-day/tag/conservation-medicine/tag/ecowise-certified/tag/estonia/tag/extermination-service/tag/exterminator/tag/green-thumb/tag/hearts-pest-management/tag/higher-certification/tag/higher-education/tag/tartu/tag/united-states

Optimizing one site for multiple countries
I am working on a project, where we have one website, with a country specific domain, which is currently ranking well in local search. The client now wants to expand his business into two new countries (all english speaking) and would like to rank for the same keywords in these two new countries. The customer do not want to create new websites for the new countries. Because its a local domain and the website is setup for local search in GWT with locally hosted server, i expect challenges in optimizing for new countries without impacting the current local ranking. Question 1: What would be the recommended approach for maintaining their existing ranking on local search, while optimizing for the new countries.
