PDF linkbuilding - heavy or light on graphics since they might print it
-
Hello,
We're writing a PDF on how to choose a product for our niche. We want people to link to the PDF, share it with people, and possibly print it.
How heavily should I use graphics and images in this PDF? The corresponding article is full of graphics, charts, and images.
Thanks.

I think I've got this. Thanks Irving for your good help.

I'm using InDesign and my 72 DPI images are grainy when I export to PDF and the PDF is read at greater than 100% zoom. Other PDFs I've seen are fine. Any ideas on what I can do?

The more attractive the better IMO if you want it to get shared, just use optimized images that aren't bloated. If you think people will be inclined to print it, then light color images, not heavy black that just eats up your ink cartridge.

Nofollow "print" URLs?
Hi there, Apols for the basic question but is it considered good practice to nofollow one of one's own URLs? Basically our 'print page' command produces an identical URL in the same window but with .../?print=1 at the end. As far as I've been reading, the nofollow html attribute is, broadly speaking, only for links to external websites you don't want to vouch for or internal links to login/register pages that together with noindex, you're asking Google not to waste crawl budget on. (The print page is already noindexed so we're good there) Can anyone confirm the above from their own experience? Thanks so much!

Linkbuilding
Hi, I am trying to rank a website in a competitive niche (health related). I am looking to hire someone really good in outreach and good llinkbuilding. I have tried elance and mostly Indian companies on it which couldn't really deliver. I have also checked moz's recommended list and those guys are way too pricey for start-ups. Is there members on the forum who come recommended? I am happy to work out reasonable fees and possibly also discuss equity in the business. Any help would be appreciated.

Glossary index and individual pages create duplicate content. How much might this hurt me?
I've got a glossary on my site with an index page for each letter of the alphabet that has a definition. So the M section lists every definition (the whole definition). But each definition also has its own individual page (and we link to those pages internally so the user doesn't have to hunt down the entire M page). So I definitely have duplicate content ... 112 instances (112 terms). Maybe it's not so bad because each definition is just a short paragraph(?) How much does this hurt my potential ranking for each definition? How much does it hurt my site overall? Am I better off making the individual pages no-index? or canonicalizing them?

Used Alternate Domain for Print Material But not Showing up in SERPs
Used an alternate domain name to send print advertising traffic to so we could measure effectiveness. The domain does not have any content on it and only forwards to our actual domain. The issue is neither domain shows up when people search the alternate domain name without .com. The question is, will putting up content under that domain, including meta data, and submitting the site to Google as well as running fetch as Google make the alternate domain name to show up... it's an extremely unique domain name and there's basically zero competition for it.

I need your brains please - client site dropped significantly in search since hummingbird
I need your support. I've been doing "SEO" for several years - but sticking to sustainable methods. No junk links Decent content Decent site etc The site is advisein.com and it was ranking well for several terms such as: best lsat prep best lsat preparation best lsat course etc. Also there are some youtube videos (with the google thumbnail) that were doing extremely well in search and even those dropped in the rankings. Can any of you tell if there are some glaring issues that I am missing that would make the website and youtube videos drop 30 - 40+ spots in SERP's over the past few months after dominating for the last 3 years? Thank you in advance and I welcome additional questions and any ides....

Guest writer for a magazine that is .pdf?
I was asked to be a guest contributor to an online bridal magazine, but not sure if there would be any linking value on it, as it is a pdf. Of course, there would be readers who might remember me, and come visit our site. But for linking purposes, I don't see any seo benefit. But I am a newbie, so I might be missing something. The magazine's are in a pdf format. Here is a link: http://bridesclub.com/wedding-magazines/Spotlight-NW-Fall-2013.pdf You can also view it online but they redirect to www.issuu.com/ And the links are no followed. Anyone have any advice? Thank in advance!

Since when did Google get case sensitive?
We are currently ranked #2 locally (NJ) for "IT support", and #27 for "it support". This is a fairly recent development - like today. I know "it" is a stop word, but I have never seen this before. The funny thing is that this is the only "IT" search where this happens. Most of my keywords contain "IT". What's up with this?

Our keyword rank fell drastically since our last moz crawl. What gives?
Our site was just crawled last night an we had a number of keywords fall 25% or so, from say # 30 to 38. What would cause such a drastic fall? We haven't taken down pages or changed changed page titles, url or content. One thing we are having trouble with is our meta description and meta keywords for each page. Drupal 7 seems to be giving us trouble and the meta information isn't showing up anymore. Would that cause the fall? Any other suggestions?
