Select Keywords Strategy
-
Hi, when planing a strategy for the keywords i am looking at the following parameters: 1. Using Google Analytics i check what are the queries that cause my website to appear in search results 2. I am trying to understand what is the message the website (the company) want to deliver 3. I am trying to find the best keywords that will have lower competition to minimize the costs The Q 1. Any other parameters that i missed? 2. What will be the best way for me to check the competition and the costs for each keyword before i select it? Thank you very.... SEOwiseUs

I don't select a category (industry) - I prefer to allow Google to bring back a variety of results so I can make the industry evaluation without relying on their system to figure that out for me. Other than that, I also don't just put in one phrase at a time - I usually put in a few - up to five or six, that I have already identified as related from my previous process.
But other than that, it's the same as what you do

Thank you Alan, What do you mean " i run these keywords thru Google keyword tool" I am using this tool - the way i use it is: i write my keyword, select category(industry) select region and language. and press "search" The results are - monthly (local and global) searches for this keyword, competition. And bellow - a list of suggested keywords from google Do you use the keywords tool in a different way? .

I take the keywords I think the site should rank for (understand the market, think "what would a prospective visitor/customer/client use to search for this"), as well as similar top level phrases on the site (home page, top category page or top services pages). I then run a few of those at a time through the Google Keyword tool. I export the results into an Excel spreadsheet and do that for each batch I run.
I then review the results to see which ones that come back have the highest volume of search volume but that are also closest in match to the true focus of the site.
You can then sort those out by competition difficulty.
Sometimes it helps to also go into Google during the process, do a search for one of the phrases, then when you get the results back, below the search box in Google, there's options for web, images, maps, etc. on the end of that row is a "search tools" button. Click that and you can then use the middle drop-down to show "related searches".
That gives you more ideas to work with based on popular search variations.

"Not enough data for selected time period" - Google My Business Insights
Hello All, Has anyone come across the following message "Not enough data for selected time period" when they choose a time frame in Google My Business (GMB) for one week. It seems to be consistent with "Customer Actions" and "Where Customers View Your Business on Google sections. I'm confused because I am pulling in a minimum of 500 searches a week according to the "How customers search for your business" section. I can scroll over top of each day in these areas and manually write down the results, but what's the point of offering a 'one week" insight if it won't calculate for you. If anyone has had the same issue or knows what's going on, please let me know. Thanks!

Impressions skyrocketed 10x in few days on just one keyword and I don't understand why.
Hi everyone, I found this 'anomaly' in my google search console data. As you can see from the picture the impressions skyrocketed in a few days and then sort-of plateaued. The clicks remained almost the same because the keyword is highly informational (Wikipedia takes all the traffic). The keyword has around 650 000 searches per month. Btw. We are not doing off-site SEO. I would like to hear your opinion on what could have caused this. A Google update maybe? 5lERKef

Why do WMT's Search Analytics & GA's Real Time Keywords Differ?
I took a screen shot of the keywords from Google Analytics Real Time Keywords for Google / Organic. Then I waited a week and filtered Google Webmaster Tools' Search Analytics for queries with those keywords. None of them showed up. Why not? What I missing? Why do some keywords show up in Google Analytics RT for Google / Organic while most others are in Not Provided? I see WMT's Search Analytics says that it doesn't always show queries that "are made a very small number of times or those that contain personal or sensitive information." But most of my queries are like that. Anybody know any patterns / criteria that leads WMT to show some but not others? Thanks

How to Access Keywords in Old Adword Account
Where can the keywords that go with a specific ad be found in Google adwords? Right now the only keywords we can find are all the collective keywords used across the 10 ads in the campaign. We need to which individual keywords are associated with each ad. Is that information available, and if so, where? Appreciate your input. David

Where to find "Keywords that Sent Organic Search Visits" in Google Analytics?
Hi everyone, Tried searching for this answer but couldn't find it. In the new analytics, I can see that there is a graph that shows the number of unique keywords that brought traffic to our site sorted by weeks. I can't seem to find this data in Google Analytics. I can only find the number of visits but not sorted by how many keywords, instead it is just # of visits from all of the keywords. Thanks in advance. SZ

Traffic by keyword- phenomenon
I have several keywords that seem to bring visitors in but when I look at my rankings it shows that I have no ranking authority at all. Are these just robots or some non human click? Or how do I even get these visitors?

Use Google Spreadsheet for Top Keywords Report
I've been using the super-awesome Google doc described here http://www.seomoz.org/blog/custom-reporting-using-google-analytics-and-google-docs for all kinds of reporting and I've customized it quite a bit. But I can't figure out how to feed text-based fields from GA into this doc. For example, can I make it so this doc spits out top 10 keywords? Thanks!

Interpreting Keyword Difficulty Tool results
I have been running various reports using the Keyword Difficulty tool. The columns are color coded - are there one set of signals that are more important than others? I am trying to analylze why we are ranking where we are and where our competitors are weak enough to overcome in a short term. I cannot seem to find a formula for the top indicatators for moving up in ranking. One of my sites in ranking number 5 but is neck and neck with the number one site for results. The other site is number 6 for the same term but has virtually no strength in the data like links, mozrank, trust, Social, etc...The sites 7-10 are much stronger on data. Maybe since they are from the same C block that helps? Any advice or experience would be helpful.
