What is the best way to get links now ?
-
I have been working for a long time in the industry now and I was away for some time. It seems that now after the google updates..It is difficult to do link building. I used to do quality white hat link exchange to very related sites. For example, I own a travel site about Paris (www.simplyparis.org) and I would exchange links with other travel sites about France or/and Paris. It was good for the visitors and SEO..
Now what is the best link building technique ?
What should I do to promote my site now?

Take a look at this White Board Friday video, it is relevant to the travel industry and contains some good ideas about content and what 'not' to do since Penguin. It may also help with idea generation!

It is, and always has been, marketing quality or exceptional content.
If you can produce something for your website that no Paris travel website has done before, or if you can take an idea and make it your own, then you can a lot of links and social signals over a long period of time. You can also market your content for other sites (guest posts/infographics etc) which can earn you individual links, but there's nothing like earning multiple links to a page on your website that you created. The way to do that is to create something exceptional.
It's hard work and it takes time, but it's the longer and harder tasks that get the best rewards. Quick fixes (of which link exchanges could be seen as one) are never as powerful as they can't accrue these links over a long period of time.
If you're in it for the long haul, start creating things that make your website stand out.

What is the best way to seek out good incoming links?
I get "form letter" type requests for links all the time from companies whose product has absolutely no relationship to mine. I always decline them. But I really want to build up link juice, and I'm wondering how to begin. Is the "form letter" all right to send or should it be more personal? I sell tablecloths; I assume I should go to home decor companies? Thanks in advance!

Links from Real Estate Websites Link Page, Do or Don't?
It seems that real estate sites have at times been under heavier scrutiny from the search engines. But real estate agents get networking, which makes acquiring those links a little bit easier. Plus with localization of search, I think real estate sites may give off a good GEO scent. Should SEO's go for links from real estate websites? Does a reciprocal link devalue said links?

JavaScript is crawled by search engines, isn’t it? Does it mean that links embedded in JavaScript pass link juice?
I wonder If links embedded in JavaScript from an external Website pass link juice to the linked page and thus have a positive effect on google rankings. I read that JavaScipt is craweld. Does it mean that also the link juice is passed? I'm looking forward to your answers.

Why Google is not getting many of the links to my site?
Hello, I have a website for cosmetics, selling and a lot of information (http://www.vipcosmetica.com). For about half a year I've been working also in seo for several google keywords. My question is about the external links to my site. Using different tools, including those of SEOMoz, I see just a few links to my site, however there are plenty, because I've been putting them myself, in public directories, related blogs, industry websites and so on. Alexa shows 5 links only, OpenSiteExplorer shows 4, and Market Samurai 9. I thinks theres should be like 50-60 links, minimum, in pages with good google PR (Youtube, Vimeo, Vulka, Hotfrog, Digg, Flickr, etc.). In Alexa, recently two more links appeared, from two blogs that have copied some content from my site (priveta policy) without changing the original links that point to other pages on my site, and those are the links that Alexa shows now. What could be the reason the rest of the links do not appear at all? Thank you very much

SEOs and web developers frequently leave links to their site in the footer of their clients' sites. Does this negatively impact the site with the links?
Does this provide any SEO value to the receiving site? Has anyone experienced problems doing this?
