Am I blind or has Google finally shut down its "Related Searches" option?
-
I know I just used this a few days ago, so I was surprised when doing keyword research today that I could no longer access the "Related Searches" feature in Google search.
Has anyone else noticed this? It's a pity if it's gone, although I think Google announced it was going to shut this down over a year ago. They said the same thing about the "Patent" search too, but it is still available.
I know using "Related Searches" was really popular with SEOs so I am wondering if anyone else is as sad-faced as I am? Or perhaps was it just bumped today so Google could have fun with their April Fool's beta test of Google "Nose" ?

Donna Keegan just wrote a post in Site Pro News Saying the "Related Searches" feature is gone.
It isn't gone. It's just been moved. That's why I thought they'd taken it down.
Google has moved Related Searches out of the tool bar options in the drop down box and is now automatically including them at the very bottom of the first page of search results. I am including a screenshot so everyone can see what I'm talking about.
Donna's post is here: http://www.sitepronews.com/2013/05/08/google-removes-more-search-features/ - I have already left a comment letting her know that, indeed, Related Searches are alive and well, they just aren't hidden in the drop down menu any more.

What are you seeing now, Dana?
-
Hi all, I just wanted to check in and say I have checked for the "Related Searches" option every day since I posted this and they have not reappeared for me, regardless of browser and regardless of whether I am at work or at home.
Anyone else seeing the same?
-
I still see related searches.
Try Google Trends for your search KW - http://www.google.com/trends/
Scroll down the page, right column - shows a list of related searches...
-
Hi James, yes there are other ways to make kw research but I found google suggest really helpful in the past. Also because users were used to click on them during their first days.
If google is getting rid of them probably users doesn't find them so attractive nowadays.

Thanks Nakul!
-
Thanks James! I'm going to keep an eye on it and I'll post back here when and if I see it return to my options in search.
-
Thanks Max - I must be experiencing a Google test (I hope!)
-
Dana. As of right now, I can confirm I can still see the related searches in Houston, TX.
-
I still see related searches showing, but I have noticed Google has been playing around with numerous tests in this space recently.
That been said if they take it away it is not the end of the world as some of this data can still be taken from KW research and also auto suggest.
But yes their have been some "tests" by Google in this area that is for sure.
-
Hi Dana, that would be really sad I use related searches a lot to find good related terms to expand my keywords. I still see them in the bottom of the serp.
Maybe is because I'm in Spain but I see both in Google.com and google.es
-
I saw it this morning. Sometimes they will split test some users in order to get fresh data on how certain product features work/don't work. This could be what you're experiencing.

My page was removed from Google search result, any idea why?
URL: http://id.gamesinasia.com/review-smartphone-xiaomi-mi3/ Hi, So last week I wrote a review about a smartphone and after a couple days my post was at 6th (first page) in google search result. But yesterday it was suddenly disappeared from google search result (not even in 10++ page). Normally I just have to wrote title page + games in asia, like "review xiaomi mi3 games in asia" and google will show me the post but now it wont even show. In fact two other site that simply scrap my content was showing on 1st and 2nd result! More info: All the content was original, including the image. We are also Yahoo (Indonesia) content partner so my review also ends up in yahoo site ( https://id.berita.yahoo.com/review-xiaomi-mi3-sebuah-angkatan-baru-dunia-smartphone-121537236.html) I'm not expecting a super high ranking, but google is punishing the page and I have no idea why. Thanks!

Filler words like "for" in keyword phrase
Hey, I wonder what the effect of filler words like "on" or "for" is when I try to rank for a certain phrase. Here is an example, lets say i try to rank for "best apps iphone" but the grammatically correct usage in the headline or text is "best apps for iphone". Is there any difference or should I use the exact keyword without "for"? Thanks!

Why does google's autocomplete not align with google's keyword tool?
Is google autocomplete based solely off keyword search volume? Or is there some other factors i am missing here? Here's an example: Auto complete suggestions for 'storage toronto': [storage toronto cost] [storage toronto downtown] [storage toronto rates] [storage toronto leaside] [storage toronto prices] [storage toronto dupont] [storage toronto laird] [storage toronto eastern ave] [storage toronto ontario] Google adwords keyword tool results for these: <colgroup><col width="151"> <col width="129"> <col width="169"></colgroup>
Keyword Research | | adriandg
| Keyword | Global Monthly Searches | Local Monthly Searches |
| [storage toronto cost] | 0 | 0 |
| [storage toronto downtown] | 36 | 28 |
| [storage toronto rates] | 0 | 0 |
| [storage toronto leaside] | 0 | 0 |
| [storage toronto prices] | 73 | 73 |
| [storage toronto dupont] | 0 | 0 |
| [storage toronto laird] | 0 | 0 |
| [storage toronto eastern ave] | 0 | 0 |
| [storage toronto ontario] | 0 | 0 | So here is what i find confusing: If [storage toronto cost] is the top suggestion for [storage toronto...] then why does google say it has 0 monthly searches? Why isn't [storage toronto downtown] the first suggestion? or better yet, why isn't [storage toronto prices] the top suggestion? So either: 1) google adwords keyword tool is wrong. or 2) google suggest isn't based on just volume?? I've run these same keywords through Bing's Excel keyword information spreadsheet query and it came back saying all keywords had 0 searches ever, except for...drumroll: [storage toronto prices] with 7 monthly searches, once, in august, and 0 all other months. Now i assume that bing/yahoo numbers are significantly smaller, but this does show that that the same keyword is the most popular, so in some way suggests that google's keyword is accurate. So i guess this brings be back to my confusion, what other factors is google's suggest based on, because it obviously isn't primarily search volume. And yes, i have made sure to clear caches, and disable personalized search and search history, and tried the query in several browsers, just to double check i wasn't getting a personalized list, so we can rule that out. Thanks, Storwell.0 -
Do the search engines kind of test you out at a higher ranking for a short period of time?
I ranked very well for my keywords. They are not competitive. Nonetheless, I got convertible traffic to my blog. Suddenly, I run a search for the keywords and there is this other website ranking higher than me. it seems to be a new website. No data on opensiteexplorer. So, the only thing that I can conclude and which I've been thinking that google does is to test new webpages out for a bit higher up on the rankings. If the bounces are lower than average, then I suspect that they will give you better rankings in the future. Is this somewhat how it works?

The same keyword has the same search volume for 6 ways to type it. How should I behave?
the google keyword tool gives me those results: 5 x 1000 60500 5 per mille 49500 cinque per mille 49500 5 per 1000 49500 5per mille 49500 5permille 49500 The google results are different for every typing. Let's say I decide to bet first on "5 per mille". should I neglect the other ways of typing, or shoul I use them all while writing the content and the metadescription of the page?
