Searching for SEO/SEM with eCommerce Experience
-
I've debated on whether I should ask this on the Q&A forum. Many times I have started to write it, then changed my mind. So today, after sending another round of emails out to potential SEM and SEO consultants and getting zero response, I said what the heck and decided to post it.
I will point the finger at myself and say I must be doing something wrong in my approach and the way I am seeking out consultants or maybe what I am not saying. However, I cannot seem to get SEO companies to return my phone calls or emails. Is my company too small? Are most of the companies recommended here too busy with other work to worry about following up? Is my company and brand not sexy enough to deal with? Am I coming across wrong in my emails and phone calls?
With that being said, I decided to write a post here and clearly state some basic and general requirements in hope someone interested will respond. I would be more than happy to answer and specific questions about my company, budget, etc. in a PM.
I am looking for an SEO firm or consultants who:
-
Will deal with small businesses with revenue under $2M. I have budgeted for this and am ready to start a project immediately.
-
Have experience and a successful track record working with eCommerce sites who sell a large number of products.
-
Interested in a long term relationship that will produce long lasting, durable results.
-
Try to understand my business and what it will take to make grow my ONLINE profitability.
I look forward to speaking to anyone interested.
Jake

A nice little whiteboard friday, that you may find of value jack

Thanks Everyone who responded. I got two PM's and two companies to get it touch with.
Thanks again.

Hi Jake
We are a UK SEO company that has worked with eCommerce companies both from a point of view of training people on how to complete the SEO on their website themselves as well as completing the SEO project for them to help them achieve their business goals.
We would be delighted if you would consider us. Our email address is [email protected].

Hi Jake,
I am new to using Moz as a product, and SEO is a continued learning experience for me.
I would be happy to work with you so that you can come back to this question and tell these guys how I helped you, not just because I am a kick ass SEO but a customer service ninja.
I am not concerned by your budget, but interested in your current approach and the results you are receiving.
Kind Regards
Jeremy

I don't think your company is too small at all. Revenue under 2 million?! Please and thank you!
Goodness.. Are SEO firms truly that busy right now? Or is it laziness? What's goin on here, people?!
-
Thanks Jesse.
Hey, I accept that my approach in how I am communicating could be way off. Maybe people could respond and let me know that a company as small as mine just isn't worth the response but I am surprised.
I have written emails to approximately 10 different recommended companies, whether through a direct PM or through the contact us page on their website and have gotten ZERO responses over the last 4 days.--sounds like I am in the wrong business!
-
Oh sorry
As Jesse says, that's surprising to hear ...
-
Hi John and thank you for the response. I was not very clear in my post but my frustration stemmed from querying companies on the recommended page.
-
I don't have any suggestions to offer you at the moment, but I'm baffled that you are having this much trouble. You are willing to pay for a service... that should be all it takes! I work in SEO for a company, not an SEO company. Therefore I can't help you. But if I were freelance or working for a marketing consultant I would have replied to your email within an hour of receiving it!
What in the world is going on...! Good luck to you. I think posting your query here was a good move, ultimately. At least no harm can come of it.

SEO - Ecommerce Small Business Quick Wins
Hi I have a few hurdles I need some help with. I work on an ecommerce site, it's huge but I'm the only SEO. I've identified areas where we can make progress in rankings - we already have pages appearing for those terms, but they still need help to be pushed higher. My issue is - if it's a product listing page & we have all the SEO foundations here already, how can we push this even further? No one in the company wants too much content on this page taking away from products & I've tried adding a small amount - with no results. I know UX is something to be looked at, but I need support from others so this will be slow. Does anyone agree that writing user guides, hub pages & articles that this is a good next step? My only worry is - these pages will also be new and take time to rank so will they help the category pages enough? How can I maximise them? I'm also the only SEO, so really need to pick my battles. Thanks Becky

Should /node/ URLs be 301 redirect to Clean URLs
Hi All! We are in the process of migrating to Drupal and I know that I want to block any instance of /node/ URLs with my robots.txt file to prevent search engines from indexing them. My question is, should we set 301 redirects on the /node/ versions of the URLs to redirect to their corresponding "clean" URL, or should the robots.txt blocking and canonical link element be enough? My gut tells me to ask for the 301 redirects, but I just want to hear additional opinions. Thank you! MS

Pagination & SEO
I have the WP-Pagination plugin and I am wondering how to handle duplicate content issues and what's best for SEO. My developer initially downloaded the plugin to speed up loading for the home page. Now my home page has 21 pages of paginated content. But the pagination continues with each of my categories as well. Should I be placing a canonical reference to my home page, or category main page? My site name is gracessweetlife (dot) com

Is this Negative SEO?
Hello Everyone, I have just spent the past 9 months designing, engineering, and manufacturing our first product. We just opened our web store and started selling product. http://miveu.com. I have spent zero time doing any kind of SEO. We haven't even put up a sitemap yet or any redirects. I'm just now starting to take a look at things. As soon as I start digging, I find that it appears that someone is at least attempting to do some kind of negative SEO against us. It seems to have started about a month ago. Check this out. https://www.google.com/search?q=miveu&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-beta#q=miveu&hl=en&client=firefox-beta&hs=bo2&tbo=1&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&prmd=imvns&source=lnt&tbs=qdr:d&sa=X&psj=1&ei=AGgBUJfJNK650QHW8YW-Bw&ved=0CE0QpwUoAg&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=335379d2f3ac2208&biw=993&bih=637 At first I was thinking this isn't so good, but it seems they are just trying to build crap content about our keywords and make it relevant to us. After taking a closer look, I'm thinking maybe this isn't all bad. They have targeted all of our exiting YouTube videos and created new videos that use all of our keywords, titles, people, etc in an effort to make our existing videos irrelevant. They have have also done the same thing with articles that were written about us, awards we have won as well as started negative campaigns about us and people who have said good things about us. Here are my thoughts. While the content is really crappy, it seems like they are actually building keyword relevance to us and our products. They have all the right keywords, the content is just crappy. "There is no such thing as bad press". I don't know if anyone has ever said this before, but I'm going to refer to their effort as "White-Hate SEO" because it doesn't appear to be a real dark effort. Am I missing something here, am I way off base? My bigger worry is that their campaign may include some much darker efforts that I just haven't found yet. I'm pretty sure I know who is responsible for this. They have made it clear that they really do hate us. Frankly, I'm not interested in retaliation, I just want to get my own house in order with some good old-school whit-hat SEO. I'm really curious to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks!

What are the bing only SEO tactics?
Recently we realised that our client's SERPs were almost always lower on Bing.com and Bing (canada) when comparing with Google.com and Google.ca We want to know if there's different ranking or blocking factors for Bing and if someone had similar expriences. It would also be appreciated if you have releavent and trusted information on this topic, from blog posts, forums, etc. What are your thoughts on this?
