Google is Really Slow to Index my New Website
-
(Sorry for my english!)
A quick background: I had a website at thewebhostinghero.com which had been slapped left and right by Google (both Panda & Penguin). It also had a manual penalty for unnatural links which had been lifted in late april / early may this year.
I also had another domain, webhostinghero.com, which was redirecting to thewebhostinghero.com.
When I realized I would be better off starting a new website than trying to salvage thewebhostinghero.com, I removed the redirection from webhostinghero.com and started building a new website. I waited about 5 or 6 weeks before putting any content on webhostinghero.com so Google had time to notice that the domain wasn't redirecting anymore.
So about a month ago, I launched http://www.webhostinghero.com with 100% new content but I left thewebhostinghero.com online because it still brings a little (necessary) income. There are no links between the websites except on one page (www.thewebhostinghero.com/speed/) which is set to "noindex, nofollow" and is disallowed to search engines in robots.txt. I made sure the web page was deindexed before adding a "nofollow" link from thewebhostinghero.com/speed => webhostinghero.com/speed
Since the new website launch, I've been publishing new content (from 2 to 5 posts) daily. It's getting some traction from social networks but it gets barely any clicks from Google search.
It seems to take at least a week before Google indexes new posts and not all posts are indexed. The cached copy of the homepage is 12 days old.
In Google Webmaster Tools, it looks like Google isn't getting the latest sitemap version unless I resubmit it manually. It's always 4 or 5 days old.
So is my website just too young or could it have some kind of penalty related to the old website?
The domain has 4 or 5 really old spammy links from the previous domain owner which I couldn't get rid of but otherwise I don't think there's anything tragic.

Ok great then, maybe I got concerned too soon.
Thanks for your input!
-
At a month old, that's not unusual.
-
The traffic is actually climbing on the new website but I have a hard time having Google crawl some of the pages.
Out of 63 pages submitted (and I mean pages, not posts), only 5 pages have been indexed.
It also seems like Google doesn't get the latest sitemap often. To this day, I always had to resubmit it manually.
-
Live or not, I don't think there's a difference in the impact thewebhostinghero.com has on webhostinghero.com at this point. So long as they're not linked, whatever is done is done.
-
Yes I did notice the PR thing too and I don't get it either.
At some point, webhostinghero.com was redirecting to thewebhostinghero.com (at the domain registrar level).
Could it be that the PR for webhostinghero.com is the one from thewebhostinghero.com?
I think the best thing would be to completely shut down thewebhostinghero.com but webhostinghero.com isn't profitable yet. Thewebhostinghero.com still brings me a little income.
Jeez I'm stuck on this one...

It's just that the very first search I did with a piece of your content showed results for duplicate content. I'd did a few other checks after that did, in fact, come up clean. By the way, something seems a little off regarding your pagerank--it's kind of strange to have that kind of PR with the back links I see in OSE.

What do you mean by "questionably original content"? Apart from 2 of these 3 tools (http://www.webhostinghero.com/tools/). The rest is 100% original content. No spun content at all. Of course it's going to be similar in a way because both website are about the same topic but other than that, I didn't rewrite anything, it's all new.

One month old is very young to be expecting search traffic. On the other hand, being so closely connected to a triple-penalized site, being a month old, and having questionably original content, isn't going to give google the warm fuzzies about the quality of your site. I'd be making sure my content was spotlessly authentic and more than that, I'd be figuring out how to create some engagement with it--that's what would really speed things up for you. Your content may be providing relevance but authority is going to come from engagement.

No images in Google index
No images are indexed on this site (client of ours): http://www.rubbermagazijn.nl/. We've tried everything (descriptive alt texts, image sitemaps, fetch&render, check robots) but a site:www.rubbermagazijn.nl shows 0 image results and the sitemap report in Search Console shows 0 images indexed. We're not sure how to proceed from here. Is there anyone with an idea what the problem could be?

Website Indexing Issues - Search Bots will only crawl Homepage of Website, Help!
Hello Moz World, I am stuck on a problem, and wanted to get some insight. When I attempt to use Screaming Spider or SEO Powersuite, the software is only crawling the homepage of my website. I have 17 pages associated with the main domain i.e. example.com/home, example.com/sevices, etc. I've done a bit of investigating, and I have found that my client's website does not have Robot.txt file or a site map. However, under Google Search Console, all of my client's website pages have been indexed. My questions, Why is my software not crawling all of the pages associated with the website? If I integrate a Robot.txt file & sitemap will that resolve the issue? Thanks ahead of time for all of the great responses. B/R Will H.

Why are some pages indexed but not cached by Google?
The question is simple but I don't understand the answer. I found a webpage that was linking to my personal site. The page was indexed in Google. However, there was no cache option and I received a 404 from Google when I tried using cache:www.thewebpage.com/link/. What exactly does this mean? Also, does it have any negative implication on the SEO value of the link that points to my personal website?

As such the main website will no longer be handling the new service. Service 1
Services 2 (301 to new site)
Service 3 New Business Site This worked well, and within a week his new site was gaining traffic for the service keyword. However, we have now had a un-natural link wartning in webmaster tools. The old page on the old site had minimal links to it (around 400). It had a page authority of 42, and 142 linking domains. The new website has been live a few weeks now, and has had 3 links to it, all genuine. He was on page one for the new business name, and is now page 6. Has anyone else ever seen this happen, and how should we deal with it. We could of course remove the 301 redirect and put in a recon-request, but the 301 seems like thje right thing to have done, and is genuine. Any advice greatly appreciated.0 -
How to remove wrong crawled domain from Google index
Hello, I'm running a Wordpress multisite. When I create a new site for a client, we do the preparation using the multisite domain address (ex: cameleor.cobea.be). To keep the site protected we use the "multisite privacy" plugin which allows us to restrict the site to admin only. When site is ready we a domain mapping plugin to redirect the client domain to the multisite (ex: cameleor.com). Unfortunately, recently we switched our domain mappin plugin by another one and 2 sites got crawled by Google on their multsite address as well. So now when you type "cameleor" in Google you get the 2 domains in SERPS (see here http://screencast.com/t/0wzdrYSR). It's been 2 weeks or so that we fixed the plugin issue and now cameleor.cobea.be is redirected to the correct address cameleor.com. My question: how can I get rid of those wrong urls ? I can't remove it in Google Webmaster Tools as they belong to another domain (cf. cameleor.cobea.be for which I can't get authenticated) and I wonder if will ever get removed from index as they still redirect to something (no error to the eyes of Google)..? Does anybody has an idea or a solution for me please ? Thank you very much for your help Regards Jean-Louis

Google + under Google business domain email account
Hello there, I have a quick and straight question and I am hoping to find answer here. What do we do with a G+ profile that was set up through a business domain's email account that is used by more than one person? We want to use the company name, but we can't as it is considered personal email account although it is under business domain verified by Google. Is there a way that we ask Google to change it and allow us to use the name of the company or should we just deactivate it? Thanks in advance!

Link to Google Places, or Google Maps?
On our contact page, we offer a link to view Google Maps for directions. I'm wondering should we be linking to our Google Places page instead, or just stick with the Google Map link? Thanks!
