HTML Improvements is not updated
-
Hi,
I am using Google Webmaster to check 'HTML Improvements' errors and found that I have many Duplicate meta descriptions errors. I think that they occurred because I have change some **old URLs **to **new URLs **and then use redirect 301. This lead meta description of **old URLs **duplicate with meta description of new URLs. For example: old URL: www.abc.com/this-is-a-url--1.html and new URL: www.abc.com/this-is-a-url.html. And then use redirect 301 from www.abc.com/this-is-a-url--1.html to www.abc.com/this-is-a-url.html
Who did face this problem? Please help me how to fix this? Thanks

No, I'd just wait for it to drop out on its own and not try to inadvertently mess things up.

Should I remove www.abc.com/this-is-a-url--1.html from Google use Remove URL - google webmaster tool?
Thanks

HTML Visual Sitemap
Hello, Can anyone suggest the best tool for a visual HTML sitemap? I want to show what a website looks like architecturally before and be able to drag pages around visually to show an enhanced site architecture. I have looked at a few tools online but would like to try before I buy and also get recommendations. Any ideas?

Your tactics on improving organic search for a site in a struggling industry
We work with a client of ours with organic search initiatives. The problem is: the industry (e.g. the core of the business) is sagging. It has been for a couple of years. And they're finally feeling these sagging losses. Google Trends support this and shows it quite nicely. It pretty much mirrors organic search referrals as well. The industry (e.g. the core phrase that the company and its competitors have historically hit very hard) as well as Google Trends for the client (middle of the pack) and their two big competitors are attached. Wondering if anyone else has had this type of circumstance with their clients and some of their go to tactics that helped them stop the skid (and even make it start going up). Duplicate Content aka 301 redirect from .com to .com/index.html
Moz reports are telling me that I have duplicate content on the home page because .com and .com/index.html are being seen as two pages. I have implemented 301 redirect using various codes I found online, but nothing seems to work. Currently I'm using this code. RewriteEngine On

RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^jacksonvilleacservice.com
RewriteRule ^index.html$ http://www.jacksonvilleacservice.com/ [L,R=301] Nothing is changing. What am I doing wrong? I have given it several weeks but report stays the same. Also according to webmasters tools they can't see this as duplicate content. What am I doing wrong?0 -
Crawl Diagnostics Updates
I have several page types on my sites that I have blocked using the robots.txt file (ex: emailafriend.asp, shoppingcart.asp, login.asp), but they are still showing up in crawl diagnostics as issues (ex: duplicate page content, duplicate title tag, etc). Is there a way to filter these issues or perhaps there is something I'm doing wrong resulting in the issues that are showing up? Ryan

Diagnosing and improving usability
So my overall bounce rate is around 70% and the average time on page is around 2 minutes. Obviously, this is no bueno, but I feel like I've been staring at my own website so long that I have trouble viewing it from a fresh perspective. Are there any tools to I can use to diagnose the usability of my site? Would the SEOMoz community mind taking a look a my site from a fresh perspective and giving me some pointers on how to improve those metrics? Html text versus a graphic of a word
Hello, How much better for rankings is an html text heading (H1 text of a word at the top of a page) than a graphic of the word with an alt tag? Thank you!

Dynamic pages on a static html pages websiite
Good evening everybody. I am new on SeoMoz that I find very helpful in my work. I am not a web developer so please excuse me if my technical language is poor.I have an issue that maybe you can help me to solve. I work for a company who has a website, which is old and very well positioned on google for the most important keywords for the field of the company I work for (dentistry). It is a website made some years ago and it's made of static html pages.I would like to add a section in my website where I can post articles, like a blog (I think of a wordpress-style website) with daily posts (so with a dynamic page). Is there a way to do this without modifying the structure of the website and without losing pages, urls and ranking? We're on the first google page for many keywords of interests in our city and it would be a great damage for us to lose those positions.Thank you very much!

Status of Ajax and SEO? Changing navigation from plain HTML to AJAX.
We will change an old school HTML drop down navigation for an AJAX drop down one. What's your experience in regards to Google indexing AJAX? I know that Google is now able to read more stuff than in the past, but I need some stories "from the trenches" if you're willing to share. Thanks in advance.
