Goal Tracking in Google Analytics
-
Hi guys,
I just want to ask if you have videos or blogs about setting up goal tracking using conversion page or a "thank you page" in Google Analytics. This will help me to get how many inquiries (from contact form) I am getting and for me to know where they came from using Google Analytics (countries, source/site they used, time on site, category page and landing page, etc.).
#2 question - In case I don't have a "thank you" page, is it possible for me to get these "goals"? Do I need to insert a code in each of the "send" button in my contact form?
Looking forward for a positive response from you guys.
Thanks,
JC

Have you checked out Google's Analytic's training, they have video about how to do this. You should be able to access it from your analytic's account.
Also here is a link to Google Goals: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1032415?hl=en
Not sure if this is what you are after, we tend to set up goals in Google Analytics, we can then match that goal to our lead forms, all thanks to our great web developer.

To answer your question #2: If you don't have a thank you page, you probably want to track clicks on the "send" button and define them as goals. In order to do that, you have to add analytics javascript to the button so it's defined as an event. Then you go to goal setups as described above by Brian and define those events as goals.
As described here: http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/google-analytics-goals-funnels-tips/#Event

You can setup a thank you page in google analytics by doing the following:
- Log into your Google Analytics account and go to the website profile for your site.
- Click on the “edit” button to the right of your site link.
- You should now see an area if you scroll down a little called only “goals”. Click on the first link on the right to “add goal”.
- Once there, name your goal. I named mine “subscribers”. Under Goal Type, select “URL Destination”.
- After that, you should be given more options to input your “thank you” page information. Under “match type” select “exact match” and input your goal url as “/thank-you/” if your whole url was http://www.mysite.com/thank-you/
- If you want to track sales, you can additionally input the value of your average sale too (win!).

Show Unique User Goal Completions in Analytics Instead of Totals
Hello Everyone, Currently within Google Analytics, I have a mostly unfiltered view and several goals setup. One of my goals is tracking the download of an eBook (setup to track visits to the 'success' page of the download). At the moment (as I understand it), that tracks "TOTAL" goal completions. So, if the same user/person downloads the eBook twice, I will see 2 goal completions. What I'm trying to figure out is how to generate a report or view or something that tells me how many "unique" users have downloaded the eBook. Is this possible to do? And, can I do it using past data or do I have to setup a new filter that would only track unique users going forward? Thanks in advance.

Question regarding on tracking
Hi guys, We are tshirts printing company.

We have of course a website and we have around 18k monthly visitors.
We get around 75 daily quotes.
We are not E commerce so we dot sale on the website. We can get all the information from Google analytic regarding to how many quotes we got and from where they came from but we can't know how many quotes was converted. I heard that i can add ref code on the url and then i will see that code in our quotes system and i will know from where that quote arrived.
Another thing that i know i can do is that the system will remember that first url that the visitor enters the site so like that i can know exactly from each url we got the quote and i know that the professional name for this is SESSION. So after all this, the obvious questions here is, Is everything that im saying here is make sense ?
Can i add SESSION to WordPress site ? And how easy is that/or the cost for that ?
For all of you the expert out there, is this the right way to track everything if you are not eCommerce ? Any help are welcome !!0 -
Tracking homepage visits
Hi Mozzers, I run a website that has some buttons on the homepage. These URL's are not unique as they are accessible from the nav bar at the top of the page. I want to see the conversion rate of the homepage buttons. Is this possible? I currently use Crazy Egg to see how many people are clicking on the buttons but I want more information as I'm sure whether they are converting. Thanks, Karl

Non-branded search before branded search in Google Analytics
A lot of organic search phrases contain branded terms. Does Google Analytics provide a possibility to track wheteher the first interactor with the website is due to a non-branded search term? Example: On monday someone search for 'online shoes' and on thursday this visitor search for 'shoestore.com'. Ist it possible in the Thursday report in Google Analytics to see that this visitor has first arrived on the site with the search term 'online shoes'? The same question can be asked for direct/none traffic. is it possible to see whether these visits ca be attributed to an organic search term?

Setting Up Ecommerce Tracking for Google Analytics?
Hello SEOmoz members, this is my first forum post, so i hope that it goes well. my question for today is, How can i set up set up Ecommerce Tracking for Google Analytics, if my website Does NOT use a Shopping Cart tool? I am currently SEO'ing a couple of Translation Service websites, and the Ordering System is a little different from the regular Shopping Cart tool that you would normally find on a Product website. so far i have added the analytics code to all the pages so i can track my SEO efforts, but is there no way to track the sales from each visitor if the website only provides Quotes? the website has a Quote form setup into 3 steps, and at the end of step 3, a general price is generated for the visitor and a CSR is supposed to contact them to completete the order. we can normally see the total orders and clients in our own system, but does anyone have any way to combine SEO with this information, like how google analytics Ecommerce can? if anyone could provide any helpful information, i would be very Greatful. thank you!

How to track PPC conversions?
I use both adwords and Microsoft Adcenter. I am looking to be able to track my conversions from each PPC site. I do not have a "Thank You" or "Check Out" page that I can tag because any sales that I make are through clicks on a link that goes offsite to an affiliate company that I receive commission from. However, the link on my site is a "Buy Now" button, so to get some idea of which source is giving me better conversions I'd like to know whether adcenter or adwords is sending more people that end up clicking this link. Canb anyone suggest a way or a program to set up in this manner? Thanks in advance for your help!
