WHAT IF YOU ARE NOT IN THE BUSINESS OF PRODUCING CONTENT
-
A lot of SEO is focusing on content these days and having unique blogs and articles. I understand how this would be great for a search engine, but doesn't that leave out businesses that are not there to make content but only want to advertise their services?
-
I believe that there's a general misconception of what content is. Infact, people tend to think at is a "written content".
But it not so.
Video and audio (both better with transcripts), photos, graphics (and infographics), and, yes, written posts are all contents.
As Adams said, the secret of succes of any enterprise blog happens when it is able to become a relevant and authoritative voice in its market.
-
You might be surprised at the amount of content you do already have, but don't think of as content. Things like:
- Brochures and flyers that explain your business that you have in your lobby or you mail out to people.
- Outgoing emails to potential/existing customers, where you are answering the same questions over and over.
- Telephone scripts for inbound or outbound marketing.
Look around for what types of unique things you already have developed outside of the web, and see if you can use that on the web. You've already done the work involved in vetting the content, etc. Now let it work for you, and have people be able to find that answer on your website, without having to write the same email for the 50th time.
-
Why not add a blog to your website and focus on producing some really great content for it? This can be a great way to not only get rankings but establish yourself as an industry expert to sell your services.
-
I guess they will just have a harder time ranking well than. Of course they can still build links through their partnerships, referals, directories, clients etc.
It's not really a matter of 'making content' for the sole sake of getting links; it's also about educating potential customers, getting your knowledge out to people facing similar problems, being seen as an authority in your market, receiving business opportunities because people are landing on your website with long tail search phrases etc.

References for Healthcare Blog Content?
Hey everyone, We have a couple B2C medical/healthcare clients we produce content for and I was wondering what the industry stance is when it comes to giving references at the end of a blog, assuming there were no statistics or direct quotes used in the content. A lot of our content is written via research on a specific condition/treatment and doesn't really dive deep into specific medical nuances. Things like risks, recovery timelines, questions to ask, etc. are written about mostly. Still, should we be providing general references at the end of blogs to sites like WebMD, Medscape, etc. Thanks for any input!

Duplicate content problems, so why does WordPress post onto Tumblr?
Hi Everyone, Basically I know that if you have duplicate content your ranking is effected! This I understand, so why is it that WordPress has the option to post your blog entry straight onto your paired Tumblr account? Surely if this can be done, I can have the same content on the company website but also on WP and Tumblr? Or is there some sort of method to how it works specifically for those 2 websites? Thanks in advance.

Archive older, low ranked content to help new content in Panda 2.2?
After watching the white board friday re: Panda 2.2, it got me to thinking about old content. One of the sites that I work with generates 3-10 new articles/day (movie reviews, interviews, guides, event previews, etc) and has been doing so since 2005. Now, they have almost 10k articles, 7k of which are indexed. The quality of the content varies, and much of it is dated (movies, events) much of the amount of older content gets 0-5 pageviews/month, made in the days BEFORE the site was using Google News + social tools to spread the word (and backlinks). Note that those older articles also of course tend to have 100% bounce, and small/zero TOS. Is this hurting the site? With 75-100 articles/month being published, I want to make sure they get maximum exposure. I'm also concerned that crawlers get sucked into the site chasing down old BS content, and that is hurting it as well. What to do with this content? Should I unpublish unpopular, dated content and get it off the internet? Or, do I leave it on, but NOINDEX it so Google won't crawl it?
