301 redirect a set of pages to one landing page/URL?
-
I'm planning to redirect the following pages to one new URL/landing page:
Old URLs:
http://www.olddomain.com/folder/page/1
http://www.olddomain.com/folder/page/2
http://www.olddomain.com/folder/page/3
http://www.olddomain.com/folder/page/4
http://www.olddomain.com/folder/page/5
http://www.olddomain.com/folder/page/6
New URL:
http://www.newdomain.com/new-folder/new-page
Code in .htaccess that I will be using:
RedirectMatch 301 /folder/page/(.*) http://www.newdomain.com/new-folder/new-page
Let me know if this is correct.
Thanks!

Hi guys,
The redirection rules are working well but the landing pages are showing special parameters like the following:
http://www.olddomain.com/folder/page/1 TO http://www.newdomain/new-folder/new-page?cmd=divisionsMain&group=2&country=1&category=1&page=1
http://www.olddomain.com/folder/page/2 TO http://www.newdomain/new-folder/new-page?cmd=divisionsMain&group=2&country=1&category=1&page=2
http://www.olddomain.com/folder/page/3 TO http://www.newdomain/new-folder/new-page?cmd=divisionsMain&group=2&country=1&category=1&page=3
http://www.olddomain.com/folder/page/4 TO http://www.newdomain/new-folder/new-page?cmd=divisionsMain&group=2&country=1&category=1&page=4
http://www.olddomain.com/folder/page/5 TO http://www.newdomain/new-folder/new-page?cmd=divisionsMain&group=2&country=1&category=1&page=5
http://www.olddomain.com/folder/page/6 TO http://www.newdomain/new-folder/new-page?cmd=divisionsMain&group=2&country=1&category=1&page=6
http://www.olddomain.com/folder TO http://www.newdomain/new-folder?cmd=divisionsMain&group=2&country=1&category=1
Thanks in advance!

Hi guys,
Sorry for the late response. We will now test the mentioned redirect rule. I'll give you an update after.
Thanks!

I responded to one of his recent queries and then he pointed me to this question that he posted long time back that has been lying without being answered.
-
As long as you make sure this is placed in the correct tags, it should work fine.
This question was asked nearly a month ago - how did it turn out?
-
Hi friend,
Yes, the code you mentioned should work the way you expect without any issues.
Best,
Devanur Rafi

Back links to pages on our site that don't exist on forums we haven't used with irrelevant product anchor text
Hi, I have a recurring issue that I can't find a reason for. I have a website that has over 7k backlinks that I monitor quite closely. Each month there are additional links on third party forums that have no relevance to the site or subject matter that are as a result toxic. Our clients site is a training site yet these links are appearing on third party sites like http://das-forum-der-musik.de/mineforum/ and have anchor text with "UGG boots for sale" to pages on our url listed as /mensuggboots.html that obviously don't exist. Each month, I try to contact the site owners and then I add them to Google using the disavow tool. Two months later they are gone and then are replaced with new backlinks on a number of different forum websites. Quite random but always relating to UGG boots. There are at least 100 extra links each month. Can anyone suggest why this is happening? Has anyone seen this kind of activity before? Is it possibly black hat SEO being performed by a competitor? I just don't understand why our URL is listed. To be fair, there are other websites linked to using the same terms that aren't ours and are also of a different theme so I don't understand what the "spammer" is trying to achieve. Any help would be appreciated.

Question about "sneaky" vs. non-sneaky redirects?
One of my client's biggest keyword competitors is using, what I believe to be, sneaky redirects. The company is a large, international corporation that has a local office. They use a totally unrelated domain name for local press and advertising, but there is no website. The anchor text in the backlinks automatically redirects to the corporate website. Is this sneaky or not?

Duplicate keywords in URL?
Is there such a thing as keyword stuffing URLs? Such as a domain name of turtlesforsale.com having a directory called turtles-for-sale that houses all the pages on the site. Every page would start out with turtlesforsale.com/turtles-for-sale/. Good or bad idea? The owner is hoping to capitalize on the keywords of turtles for sale being in the URL twice and ranking better for that reason.

I need de-spam help/advice
For one of my sites I am working on I outsourced SEO about 3 years ago. One of the "tricks" the SEO used at the time was to pay for several Blog posts to be "sponsored" by this web site using exact match keywords for the domain. 1 Where do I look to determine the spammy links pointing to this site? 2 Have you had success getting rid of these bad links?

Passing page rank with frames - Is this within Google Guidelines?
It appears this site is gaming Google for better rankings. I haven't seen a site do it this before way before. Can you tell me what enables this to get such good rankings, and whether what they are doing is legitimate? The site is http://gorillamikes.com/ Earlier this year this site didn't show up in the rankings for terms like "Cincinnati tree removal" and"tree trimming Cincinnati" etc. The last few months they have been ranking #1 or #2 for these terms. The site has a huge disparity in MozRank (8, very low) vs. Page Rank (6, high). The only links to this page come from the BBB. However, when you look at the source code you find 100% of what is displayed on the site comes from a page on another site via a frame. The content is here: http://s87121255.onlinehome.us/hosting/gorillamikes/ When I go to onlinehome.us I'm redirected to http://www.1and1.com/. I'm only speculating, but my guess is onlinehome.us has a high page rank that it is passing to http://gorillamikes.com/, enabling Gorilla Mikes to achieve PR of 6. Does this make sense? In addition, the content is over optimized for the above terms (they use "Cincinnati (Cincinnat, OH)" in the first three H2 tags on the page. And all of the top menu links result in 404 errors. Are the tactics this site is using legitimate? It appears that everything they're doing is designed to improve search results, and not in ways that are helpful to users. What do you think?
