W3C My site has 157 Errors, 146 warning(s) Is it an issue?
-
Is having this number of W3C errors & warnings an issue and will be impacting my site's performance?
When the site was built 6 months ago my developers told me that it "was nothing to worry about", but I have read that any errors aren't good, let alone the huge number my site has?
Your advice please
Thanks
Ash

My website that is ranking well has errors too:
Result: 59 Errors, 4 warning(s)
So far the site is still ranking well so i am not very worried.
But i know my friend who engaged in an India SEO company to solve his problem. -
"On the other URL checker you gave me the site scored 3 F's & 3 A's but i am not sure whether that is good or bad."
I use that test mainly to test the load times 1st and reload times, here are your results:
http://www.webpagetest.org/result/140208_3Y_B5M/
This was run for 1.5DSL connection from London, UK. 18sec and 10sec is def on the slower side, and caching could definitely help. As you want to aim for 2-5sec loads.
But roughly looking at the validation errors I didnt spot anything that would decrease your performance, in your case the performance is mostly likely not due to the validations. Again I just did a rough look through, so dont take my words for fact. Maybe others can chime in if they see something out of the ordinary with the errors.

Hi Vadim here is the URL for the W3C results
On the other URL checker you gave me the site scored 3 F's & 3 A's but i am not sure whether that is good or bad.
I queried these issues with my developer when they launched the site but was told not to worry about it, but as my knowledge has grown I am not sure whether i should be worrying about it or not!?
I have posted other questions on Moz recently about why i can see x2 menus when looking at google cache of site & why you can only see the site in text and not the full version?
Plus using SEOTools crawler tool it shows me all the HTML coding aswell as body text when i do a keyword search?
Hopefully the W3C results will help you or someone shed some light on whether i am ok of not?
Thanks

Hi Ash,
Most would say the validator is at times too strict or in some ways moving slower to the changing technology. A good example is doing a validation for facebook.com still yields 45 errors, and 4 warnings.
Now 156 errors may be significant, depending on the errors. But assuming your developers did a good job, those might be things that may or may not be significant. For example nytimes.com has 500+ errors. Does that mean their site is slow or broken, not necessarily. It is interesting that you are asking about this 6 months since this issue was brought up and not right then and there
The first check I would run, is actual performance check on your site here is are good options for you: http://www.webpagetest.org/
You can test various browsers, internet connections, and locations, to see if the results are reasonable for your situation. Also posting your error codes here would help and one of us can help you and actually tell you if your errors are a big deal or not!
Hope this helps!

Large Global Site Structure
Hi, I have a question about the advised structure for a website that I'm currently building. It's a large international brand with it's main office in the UK. The main website is the .com but there is a growing international franchisee network. I've built the .com site on Wordpress but I'm not sure if I the best way forward would be to create each international website on a separate hosted site or just include it in the .com Wordpress structure using the The WordPress Multilingual Plugin. So to sum up... should I build the entire global network on one domain and then use WPML plugin or should I build separate websites for each International franchisee? Hope some one can educate me on the best route to take. Thanks Moz Community

Is it better to redirect a url or set up a landing page for a new site?
Hi, One of our clients has got a new website but is still getting quite a lot of traffic to her old site which has a page authority of 30 on the home page and has about 20 external backlinks. It's on a different hosting package so a different C block but I was wondering if anyone could advise if it would be better to simply redirect this page to the new site or set up a landing page on this domain simply saying "Site has moved, you can now find us here..." sort of idea. Any advice would be much appreciated Thanks

Does Google have problem crawling ssl sites?
We have a site that was ranking well and recently dropped in traffic and ranking. The whole site is https and and not just the shopping pages. Thats the way the server is setup, they make whole site https. My manager thinks the drop in ranking is due to google not crawling https. I think contrary, but would like some feedback on this. Site is here

Image sliders & site speed
We are having a new website designed using WordPress and the Genesis framework. We wanted to include header image sliders on a number of internal site pages, but our designer says that sliders on more than just the home page will slow down the site significantly. How much could they slow down the site, and what can be done to minimize their effect on site speed?

How to serve a Mobile & Full Site using one URL?
Hello, Does anyone know of any resources or tutorials that outline how to serve a smartphone-formatted website using the same URL as the full site? I know that one solution is using media-queries to serve a seperate CSS stylesheet, but you still have the full HTML source code. In other words, I might want to serve a smartphone & desktop user different content, but under one URL. WP Touch (Wordpress Plugin) is a perfect example of what I mean, but how is it technically achieved? It serves two different sets of HTML for smartphone & full, but using one URL http://www.bravenewcode.com/store/plugins/wptouch-pro/

Are tables OK in e-commerce sites?
I know that for best results with search engines, tables should not be used. However as I look to redesign our older e-commerce site, I find that not only our website but many other e-commerce sites use tables. Is it acceptable to use tables in e-commerce or am I just viewing outdated e-commerce sites. Could you recommend a good shopping cart solution? We currently use volusion. Thanks for your time and see you in Boston next week!
