PR2 vs Page Authority 65
-
Looking at a website that has a Google Toolbar rank of 2. Moz Authority is 65. Why would there be such a huge difference? Site has been around since 2000 but has not been updated. Mosst of the links are from 3000 links all owned by the same person.
-
With this type of discrepancy, that's often the case. Either the site has been penalized or the linking sites have been devalued in some way (say, a link network). DA/PA basically model the raw strength of the link profile, but they don't account for some quality factors.
Of course, that assumes the toolbar PR is up-to-date and accurate, which is a fairly big assumption these days, IMO.
-
Ok...let me rephrase...
In general what reasons do you usually see for such a wide discrepancy from Da to PR?
Thanks for your help.
-
I'm not assuming anything, but wanted to just make you aware of how we calculate things.
-
So since the Da is so different that the Toolbar PR you are assuming it is some type of spam penalty? Perhaps because almost all of the inbound links are from the same domain owner?
-
Moz currently doesn't have any type of spam score when looking at the DA of a site, so that could be another factor -- Google has dropped the toolbar PR because of spam, yet we don't take that into account.

Hi Ebetc,
Mostly look at the frequency that both metrics gets updated. PageRank hasn't been updated for months and before that update not for over a year. Moz's metrics have been updated on a monthly basis and are a bit more accurate and compare it most cases quite good to a PageRank equivalent.

Hello,
The Google PR has been deprecated, the time in time it is updated by Google, when I'm looking for good links, I prefer to see other indicators in this order:
1. Google PR (only if it is PR=0) - site potentially penalized.
2. Domain Authority / Page authority.
3. Alexa Rank (give an idea about the site traffic and its authority).
I hope it helps

On page report card - small niggle
I've been carefully making page corrections and trying to get each age in line with SEOMoz recommendations. However, under the section marked Optional (and I realise I could just ignore it!) it tells me to "Avoid Using Meta Keywords Tag". However, none of the pages have any meta keywords in. They have a meta description, but no keywords. I have also removed any global keywords. Is the software wrong, or are there some more hidden somewhere.... website page is http://www.forktruckexpress.com/Hire/rossendale-forklift-hire.html Thanks in advance

What is more important, page authority or linking root domains?
I have 2 pages in my report that are identical: www.ferringway.com (more page authority......21 vs. 1) www.ferringway.com/index.php (more linking root domains...... 40 vs. 21) Which one should I delete or should I do something like a 301 redirect? Your help is greatly appreciated! Sheryl

"Too many on-page links" warning on all of my Wordpress pages
Hey guys, I've got like 120 "Too many on-page links" warnings in my crawl diagnostics section. They're all the pages of my WordPress blog. Is this an acceptable and expected warning for Wordpress or does something need to be better optimized? Thanks.

OpenExplorer vs Majestic results...?
I'm checking one of my competitors out, dubdubdub ny maids com, in both OpenExplorer and MajesticSEO. The former is showing about 2600 links from 850 domains (historic), while the latter is showing 58 links from 20 domains. I don't see that SEOMoz has a historic feature, which is vague to begin with, but even the 'fresh index' of MajesticSEO is showing more backlinks than SEOMoz. Could someone explain this dramatic difference in services? And could they also comment on how strong of an actual link profile they have? It's clearly a very old domain, which I realize has some weight, but with so many services showing such different results, I'm having a tough time discerning what it would take to dethrown them. Thanks everyone.

UK vs GB
When selecting which search engines to monitor for a campaign both Google and Yahoo offer 2 very similar options. "Great Britain" and "United Kingdom" Bing only offers "United Kingdom" From a technical point of view, what is the difference between these options and which is the better to use?

Has SEOMoz Domain Authority calc been updated recently
As ever, my apologies if this question's been asked before -- I searched for it, and didn't find it. But, our SEOMoz 'Domain Authority' has recently really jumped (from 67, where it was for many months, to 77). And, our number of Linking Root Domains increased as well, from 1,986 to 3,349) Of course, none of this has translated into Google goodness, but if any of it's true, maybe it WILL in the future? Any thoughts/ideas? Thanks, Dave (www.TeachStreet.com)
