Geo-targeting

Hi all,
If I had a global domain but with local country pages on it, i.e.
What's the best way to ensure that the relevant country gets the relevant pages. I.e. the /uk/ pages show in the UK, /usa/ pages in the USA, /au/ pages in Australia. etc. etc.
Is this a Google Webmaster tools setting?
Thanks!

Hi Matt,
Thanks for your reply - this very aptly timed blog was written on the subject yesterday: http://moz.com/blog/hreflang-behaviour-insights.

Actually what you're looking for is called hreflang.
https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/189077?hl=en
You set the default (for most of our clients that's US) and then you tell Google which pages to serve using which languages.
If you're doing this in a CMS where you'll need to set every page in a template, set it up like this:
" hreflang="x-default" />
" hreflang="en-au" />
" hreflang="en" />The request_URI section adds whichever URL the user is on, ie. your /about or /contact pages. Add this code (with your info) into the header section of your HTML template for all pages and you're good to go.

How good is Google at reading geo-targeted dynamic content -- Javascript?
We are using a single page application for a section of our website where it generates content based on the user's geographical location. Because Google's Search Console is searching from Virginia (where we don't have any content), we are not able to see anything render in Google Search Console. How good is Google at reading geo-targeted dynamic content? Do we have anything to worry about in terms of indexing the content because it's being served through JS?

Keyword Targeting / Cannibalisation
Hi Guys We're about to launch a very large website for a flooring company and would like to find out more about _key word _cannibalisation - to put my mind at rest. I know Rand posted a Whiteboard Friday early last year about this topic and mentioned using part of the same keyword was ok to use. All our keywords are specifically geared for "user intent" meaning each keyword has relevance and the content to back up the keyword. We've ensured the keywords are located within each url, placed at the start of the page title, h1 etc.

Website URL Structure - keyword targeting on homepage vs internal pages
I have developed a few websites before where the homepage contains the content for the keywords I was targeting. This has been reasonably successful as I have found it easy enough to get links to the homepage. I am considering a new site in a totally different industry that I am thinking about structuring like this: mybrand.com (not necessarily targeting any keywords) mybrand.com/important-keyword-1/ (definitely want to target) mybrand.com/important-keyword-2 (equally important as 1st keyword) There will be several (30-ish) other pages targeting keywords but they are not as significant as the two mentioned above, more so they are about publishing informative information. The two important keywords are quite different but industry related. My questions are: should I be careful targeting keywords away from the homepage when the homepage gets the most links? Would I be better off building 2 different websites where the keyword content is captured in the homepage? Thanks,

How to resolve duplicate content issues when using Geo-targeted Subfolders to seperate US and CAN
A client of mine is about to launch into the USA market (currently only operating in Canada) and they are trying to find the best way to geo-target. We recommended they go with the geo-targeted subfolder approach (___.com and ___.com/ca). I'm looking for any ways to assist in not getting these pages flagged for duplicate content. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Geo-specific SERP Rank Tracker that is good for hyper local results?
We've had a lot of success using Raven Tools, as well as some other tools for SERP Rankings for our clients; however, most only go down to the country level. We're researching into some good hyper local trackers (down to the city/zip level). Does anyone have any suggestions?
